What Cozy Did You Just Finish Reading??? (Archive)
Sarah wrote: "I just finished
. The main character was extremely likable and believable and the ending wasn't too predictable although I am sure some could have figured it out ..."I loved this one, too. One of my favorite cozies for this year.
Susie in KS wrote: "Melodie wrote: "Susie in KS wrote: "Just finished Chapter and Hearse and really enjoyed it."I'm glad you liked it. It just irked me to no end!"
Was it because of Tricia that ..."
Yes. Tricia just drove me totally up the wall. I don't like her anyway and she was especially bothersome in this book. (I got the book!! Thanks!)
Good morning all! I just finished two Ann Purser books.Murder On Monday ,Terror on Tuesday. I really enjoyed them. She brings life to all the characters and reality to real village life. I'm buying the rest of the series today. Can't wait!!
I just finished
and while at first I did not seem to care for this one it ended up being okay. I do hope that some time in the series Natasha ends up dead. She annoys me to no end.
I just finished The Persian Pickle Club by Sandra Dallas. This is about a group of quilters in depression era Kansas. While it does have a mystery, and one of the quilters attempts to solve it, it is much more of a cozy. I enjoyed the story because of the time period information and the relationship of all the women.
Miki wrote: "I just finished The Persian Pickle Club by Sandra Dallas. This is about a group of quilters in depression era Kansas. I loved her other book
- have you read it?
Maryalice wrote: "Good morning all! I just finished two Ann Purser books.Murder On Monday ,Terror on Tuesday. I really enjoyed them. She brings life to all the characters and reality to r..."Glad to hear you liked these! I have 4 from this series sitting in the TBR pile ;)
Heidi I wrote: "I just finished
and
and enjoyed both."The Ice Cream series just really appeals to me for some reason. Have thoroughly enjoyed both of them!
Susie in KS wrote: "Maryalice wrote: "Good morning all! I just finished two Ann Purser books.Murder On Monday ,Terror on Tuesday. I really enjoyed them. She brings life to all the character..."I know that some people really don't like this series. I think it has to do with the main character, Lois. I like the series.
Finally finished
by Michele Scott. This one took a lot longer for me to get through than the others. Not sure if I just read too many of hers in a row or what the deal was, but I struggled with this one.
Just finished The Long Quiche Good-bye and Unzipped. Both were good, but Unzipped was my favorite of the two. I've already ordered the rest in the series. :DI'll definitely look for the sequel to long quiche goodbye as well.
Heidi I wrote: "Miki wrote: "I just finished The Persian Pickle Club by Sandra Dallas. This is about a group of quilters in depression era Kansas. While it does have a mystery, and one of the quilt..."I haven't read any more by Sandra Dallas. Is this one good? I enjoyed Persian Pickle.
Heidi I wrote: "Miki wrote: "I just finished The Persian Pickle Club by Sandra Dallas. This is about a group of quilters in depression era Kansas. While it does have a mystery, and one of the quilt..." You might also like her book Prayers for Sale about two women (they make quilts too) in a Colorado mining town in the 1930's
I finished Ghost of a Chance and gave it 3 stars. This was the first witchy-ghosty book I've read, it was pretty good, and I would recommend it.I thought it was a cozy given the series title, but it did have some sexual scenes and some parts that might be scary for some readers.
Heidi I wrote: "Sandie & Miki you must read
by Sandra Dallas. It was excellent!" Thanks for the heads-up. I'll add it to my TBR stack.
Finished The Ghost and Mrs. McClure this evening. Loved it and wish I had book two so I could continue on with the series, but no - I only have books three and five. Sounds like a good excuse to hit the library used book sale this weekend... *grin*
Heather L wrote: "Finished The Ghost and Mrs. McClure this evening. Loved it and wish I had book two so I could continue on with the series, but no - I only have books three and five. Sounds like a goo..."I love this series Heather! I'm patiently waiting for the newest one to be released (March 2011).
Susie in KS wrote: "Heather L wrote: "Finished The Ghost and Mrs. McClure this evening. Loved it and wish I had book two so I could continue on with the series, but no - I only have books three and five...."Reading your posts make me want to read this series!
Susie: Book six is out in March? Ooh...something to add to the birthday list. Thanks! *G*
Caitlin: Hehe... we do aim to enable around here. *VWG*

Just finished Dead Man's Chest by Kerry Greenwood. I'm biased because I love this series, it's one of my all time favorites. This one did not disappoint. I'm not usually a fan of books within a series that take place 'elsewhere' - a mystery while the protag is on holiday, etc. But Kerry greenwood did a very nice job with this story, keeping me from missing the regular secondary characters. It is depressing to think I now have to wait another year...
Dru wrote: "I finished The Double Cross: A Someday Quilts Mystery by Clare O'Donohue and Murder at the PTA by Laura Alden and both were very good."I really liked Murder at the PTA too. I'm looking forward to the sequel. I need to start The Double Cross tomorrow. Glad to know that you liked it.
Heidi I wrote: "Sandie & Miki you must read
by Sandra Dallas. It was excellent!"Thanks, Heidi and Sandie. I will look for both these books by Sandra Dallas.
I finshed Buzz Off this morning and I've got to say that in the end I enjoyed it. I will read the next one. I just skipped over the bullet points and pretended they weren't there. I don't think I missed much of the plot by doing that. Plus she didn't mention the feet anymore and she and Ben became buddies. The mother thing continued to bother me..but I guess some people just have bad relationships with their mothers. I don't think it has anything to do with the first born though as I am the first daughter and me and my mom are best friends!
I also finished Keepsake Crimes yesterday and will continue with the series. The only problem I had was sometimes I felt like the characters were talking a different language...and that took some of my concentration away from the story.I finished Trouble in Mudbug just now and really enjoyed it. I don't read supernatural books as a rule...but occasionally throw one in. My only problem now is that the 2nd book in the series is hard to find. On amazon and bn the used ones are over 10.00 on ebay over 15.00. I've got it on my wishlist on PBS so I guess I'll just have to wait for it. Ugh...I wish I had seen that prior to reading the first one and I would have waited.
Yeah Leslie! I really liked Trouble in Mudbug as well. Sorry Mischief in Mudbug is hard for you to find. My library has a copy :(
Not your typical cozy (because the protag is a part-time deputy and part-time funeral director),
is a great read! A solid story with characters you will love and care about, this is the fifth in a series that was originally intended to end after the fourth book. How fortunate for readers like myself that Mark was prompted to write another on in the Buryin' Barry series. Mark de Castrique's books are ones that I keep because they can be read and reread without losing any of their flavor! Definitely recommend you check out this series.
Leslie wrote: "I also finished Keepsake Crimes yesterday and will continue with the series. The only problem I had was sometimes I felt like the characters were talking a different language...and ..."I have the opposite problem - I picked up Mischief in Mudbug at a used book store last week but don't have the first one in the series. Does it need to be read in order?
I was up half the night finishing
. Add me to the list of fans who love this new series. I will be looking for the next one right away.Earlier this week I finished
- the latest flower shop mystery. I really enjoyed this one too. Her series is a favorite of mine.
I just finished
. It was okay, a two star book. Yes, it had a murder, but it didn't feel like a mystery. At the end, it was just like, "Oh, here's the solution" because I feel like ending the book. The ending was abrupt and felt tacked on. Luckily, I got this from the library. If I had bought it, in hardback, I would want my money back.

The only common character is the mother in law ghost who is quite demanding :)

I have both of these nearing the top of The Pile. Hope to get to them soon!
Melodie I think you will really like Truely Madly. Finally I found a cozy I read before you! You've read everything!
Heidi I wrote: "Melodie I think you will really like Truely Madly. Finally I found a cozy I read before you! You've read everything!"If you liked it, Heidi, I probably will, too!
Just finished Murder at Longbourn: A Mystery by Tracy Kiely.Loved this book - thought it was a great, fun read. Almost all the characters were easy to like and the setting was very well described. As a fan of Jane Austen, I got a kick out of the quotes from her various books, but if you don't read Austen, I don't think they'll stand out beyond the formality of the speech.
I've ordered the second book and I'm looking forward to diving into it. :)
Not a cozt, but I finished a great rom suspense over the weekend, Wyoming Manhunt by Ann Voss Peterson. It started off strong and the mystery behind the opening scene kept me up last night until I had finished it.
Sandy wrote: "I just finished
and not a cozy but a pretty good mystery
"Glad somweone else likes the loon lake series as well, agree its not a cozy but more a police procedural with interesting and some quirky characters!
I just finished
for the October paper craft theme. I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. I am not into card making, but I enjoyed reading about it and the store. Aunt Lillian is a great kookie side kick and I hope she is in the other books. I think there are only three or four books in this series and I may look for the next book.
