What Cozy Did You Just Finish Reading??? (Archive)

I've just finished
for the challenge around the world. I'd already read it, but I didn't remember it and it has been interesting.

Glad I'm not the only one having problems with this book. I so wanted to like it and it's just OK. The writer seems to be "throwing" stuff into the plot to see what sticks. I should finish it today and not sure if I'll read the next one.
I just finished
. I absolutely love this series so I can't wait to check out the final book in the series.

This series was getting to be habit, but I think APPLE TURNOVER and the story in GINGERBREAD COOKIE MURDER may have effectively broken the habit!

I used to love reading this series, I agree with others that the Apple Turnover book has helped me stop in this series.

This one finally broke me of the Goldy Bear Schulz habit. I still love Diane Mott Davidson, just not this series.

Good to know! I have it coming up soon!

I just added the first one to my pile as it looks cute.

Finished Red Delicious Death by Sheila Connolly this evening. I liked this one a lot better than I did book two. Not as much focus on the murder in this one, but I liked seeing the community come together as one.

I read this one a couple of months ago and really liked it, too. One of the better books in the series. I was a bit disappointed with the one before this, but this one was back on track.

Gilbert Morris writes Christian mysteries. The Mermaid in the Basement is the first book in one of his series- it's set in Victorian England. Radine Trees Nehring writes Christian mysteries set in Arkansas- great also if you're doing the 50 states challenge. If you can't find them at the library, most Christian mysteries, at my library at least, are found in the large print section. I believe Thorndike publishes most of the large print Christian titles at my library.

Based on the plot, it would seem there are 6 more books to look forward to and it's going to suck waiting another year for the next one!

I just finished

I was debating on whether or not to get this one, but it sounds like it was pretty good, so that may be next on my to get list!

Murder on Astor Place by Victoria Thompson ***
You Bet your Life by Stuart Kaminsky ****
With Way to Murder by Shirley Damsgaard ****

Melodie - I don't know what it is with these books - I get to the middle of one and swear it's the last one I'm reading and I'm done with the series. Tricia doesn't bother me nearly as much as her sister who I'd honestly like to smack upside the head sometimes, but Tricia acts like the walking wounded throughout most of the series and it's just boring. She has no fire or spark.
But I like the premise of the series and there are likable aspects and by the end of the book the author has me thinking "maybe the next one will be better". It seldom is, and I do know that the next one will be at the bottom of the pile if it makes it there at all...
I have finished Buzz Off and I've got mixed feelings. It has not been bad but I don't like too much the main character (and I distaste the mother a lot). I'll give another try, however.

Caitlin, you're missing out on a good series of books by not reading the first three! I love this series!

Do they have to be read in order? Or could I start back with the first one?

A mystery corpse, stolen jewels, a code to decipher, very atmospheric.... all great engaging reading ...
I would thoroughly recommend it ... up there with Moonstone (my all time favourite mystery)

I found this one very disappointing also. Too many really good books out there to continue with it.

If you keep on with these 2 series, you pretty much can't miss!!

This time it was more the story. Mike wasn't in it much, but Norman was. I wish she'd just pick him and get it over with. The story was REALLY bland and so easy to figure out. There wasn't even a recipe that jumped out and grabbed me. Didn't care for the Laura Levine story. That series just got too silly after the one where Jaine was on a cruise. The Lucy Stone story was just okay and I skimmed parts of it. I don't know if these 3 story collections are just too short to tell much of a story, if I'm just getting cantankerous!
