This series gets tiresome REALLY fast. I read some of them and finally had all I could take of Magdalena's "wailing"!

Miki,
Most of have read the Tamar Myers series and are in pretty much agreement about the series...we're over it. And like Melodie said, it's mostly because of Magdalena's wailing. The series just got so absurd. Her Den of Antiquity is only slightly better and I stopped reading that one after the 7th or 8th one.
Finished reading French Polished Murder by Elise Hyatt this evening. For the most part I liked it. There were some truly funny laugh-out-loud moments. However, the editing--or apparent lack thereof--was seriously irritating my internal editor (as I know it would Denise as well), especially when the author suddenly forgot, in the space of only a couple of pages, what road her characters were racing down. One moment it was Fairfax, the next it was Colfax, without ever turning a corner. You would think, with the number of eyes that see a book before it goes to print, that mistakes like that would be caught. *Sigh* Would definitely read another in this series, but hope the next is better edited.

I liked the Den of Antiquity series better but I think that's over now.
Martha, I have no grandkids (or kids) so that means even more time for reading. Someday, my friend. LOL

Glad you've liked it. It's the next one I'm going to read (i don't know when, however, because I go a week to the beach and I think I'm not going to read a lot ;) )

Hope you'll have a wonderful vacation, Marisa. :-)

I've read Too Many Crooks Spoil the Broth, and, just recently, The Hand that Rocks the Ladle. The latter was better, but doubt I read any others. Just does nothing for me.

I'll give this series another shot. I read this book as the first in the series (even though it's not) for a "Christmas in July" challenge.

I just started reading this one.

This book defies the cozy mystery genre in some ways. The protagonist is definitely an amateur sleuth and the setting is small town. However, this book would fail the "grandmother" test. There was pretty explicit sex scenes and there was some deviant sexual encounters happening around town.

Red Dress Ink is more Chick Lit than romance. They ususally publish in quality paperbacks.

I really like this series, even if there are only 2, so far!

Kari - I loved the Passport to Peril series. A lot of fun. Sorry it's done.
I just finished

I really like this series and thought this one was quite good.

Oh my, that brings back memories! I loved Trixie when I was younger.

I don't know the timeline, but it's my understanding that the series will be coming back with a new publisher.

I added it to my PBS wish list yesterday, but hadn't read any reviews yet. Glad you liked it Heather!

I can't wait to read this one too Leslie. I really enjoy this series!

I couldn't make it through the first book. Now I don't feel so bad for quitting so quickly ;)

I didn't care for the first one, but thought I'd give this one a try. Now maybe I won't!

I couldn't read the first one either...so, I won't be trying this one either.

Ya know, I didn't much care for the first in this series and was waiting to see what everyone thought of the second. Sounds like I won't bother!

This is a series that if I can get it at the library, for free, I'll read. But, probably only after a lot of other books in my TBR pile.

Thanks, Susan. I'm happy your enjoyed the series. Jo and her friends are still very much alive in my imagination, so who knows? Maybe they'll reappear some day.
