Thanks Melodie...another one to add to my list :)

Chuck | 285 comments Just finished Murder Buys a T-shirt Murder Buys a T-shirt by Christy Fifield I liked bluebeard, the mystery was good for first in series. I did figure out who the killer was half way through

Bandmama (aka Lucy) - Claiming Mitch as mine | 121 comments Just finished The English Breakfast Murder (A Tea Shop Mystery, #4) by Laura Childs by Laura Childs. While I've enjoyed the series overall I was a little let down with this one. I'm sure I will read the rest of them but may take a break for a while.

I read the second in this series, The Walled Flower, earlier this month and had mixed feelings about it. Don't know if I'll read the next one. Though I am planning to check out her Booktown series.

Joanne | 45 comments I just finished reading Brownies and Broomsticks (A Magical Bakery Mystery #1) by Bailey Cates , the first in the series, and really liked it! Katie, the heroine, is very down-to-earth and I enjoyed the mystery. Very nice cozy! (And yummy descriptions of all the baked goods, with two recipes in the back of the book!)

Barb | 1192 comments I *just finished One Hot Murder by Lorraine Bartlett , and really enjoyed it. Not sure what's up next, I need to check library due dates before I decide :)

message 5358: by Zoe (new)

Zoe (bookwormfromathens) | 712 comments I finished Dead Man Waltzing yesterday but I was quite disappointed with the ending; I thought it was a bit far-fetched and the way Stacy came up with the murderer's identity didn't convince me. I like this series, however, and hopefully the next book will be better. We'll see...

Mary (Biblophile) | 4610 comments Just finished How to Survive a Killer Seance (Party Planning, #3) by Penny Warner and really enjoyed the subject matter of a seance in the Winchester House. This is the first one I've read in this series. Might go back and do the previous two.

I like this series, too. I'm thinking it might have ended though, as I can't find anything about a new one anywhere.

Susie Fevella (susieinks) | 821 comments I just finished 6 1/2 Body Parts (Body Movers, #6.5) by Stephanie Bond . It was a "novella", but a fun addition to this series.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Just finished Every Trick in the Book. Meh. Not as good as the first book. Many moments of me saying to the book "Oh, are you kidding me?!" Main character, Lila, has become a bit of a melodrama queen and her love interest, Sean, too puppy eyed...

Joanne | 45 comments I just finished reading Rumble on the Bayou by Jana Deleon , and really enjoyed it. Guess I'll have to make a new category, though - "steamy cozy mystery!" A fun read with a smart heroine and quirky characters in Gator Bait!

Jill | 4 comments Just finished Sisters of the Sari by Brenda L. Baker , I enjoyed this book very much. I recommend it to anyone.

message 5366: by Nell (new)

Nell | 1223 comments Read There Goes the Bride (Agatha Raisin, #20) by M.C. Beaton There Goes the Bride. Post blizzard where my town got the highest snowfalls in the region followed by two days without water, Agatha's acerbic wit was just the tonic.

Mary (Biblophile) | 4610 comments Just finished If Fried Chicken Could Fly (Gram’s Country Cooking School Mystery #1) by Paige Shelton and was disappointed. I know lots of people loved this one, but I found it flat and lifeless. Even halfway through I still didn't care about the characters or the story. Doubt I'll read any more in this series.

I was not in love with it as others either but I got book two from the library so I plan to read it and then decide about the series.

I read the first one in this series and wasn't crazy about it. I picked the new one up at Target last week, so am giving it another shot!

Mary (Biblophile) | 4610 comments Just finished Let's Play Dead (A Museum Mystery #2) by Sheila Connolly and it just so-s0. Rather slow and plodding. Been hitting a real slump in the books I've been picking lately.

message 5376: by Linda (last edited Feb 20, 2013 12:13PM) (new)

Linda I just finished A Novel Way to Die. It was absolutely one of the best cozies I've ever read. The role that the cat plays is both fun and unusual, and by the end I realized what an intricate and clever puzzle the whole thing was.

message 5378: by Lesley (new)

Lesley (laparks) Just finished Strawberry Shortcake Murder (Hannah Swensen, #2) by Joanne Fluke Hannah Swenson Mystery #2 by Joanne Fluke

It was my first Hannah Swenson mystery and I thought it was pretty good, although the recipes were starting to make me very hungry!!

I'm putting the series down on my library list and will read another one someday. (might be soon, might not be, who knows!)

with such a strong recommendation I will have to try this one, Linda. thanks.

MaryJo Dawson | 857 comments finished Singing Sands by Josephine Tey. I loved it! it is unusual, much of the story is about the main character, Inspector Grant himself, as he goes to Scotland to recover from a meltdown brought about by overwork. you aren't sure if the victim was murdered, and when you do find out, it isn't too long before you suspect who did it. but the whole story was fascinating to me, taking place decades ago in a Britain that really doesn't exist anymore. Tey has wonderful observations and a wonderful sense of humor.

I know! I've found myself thinking I'll have to look out for buttons next time I'm at a vintage shop/sale... :P

Shirley (shirleythekindlereader) When fabric stores were closing in the 70's I bought huge amounts of zippers/ribbon/lace/buttons and fabric which I have used through the years. So when you said vintage it reminded me of my wonderful stockpile in the garage bins and a trunk.

Terri (mrsjtbrown) | 12 comments I just finished The Park by Shane Jeffery . I would not classify this book as a Cozy Mystery. I'm not sure how to classify this book at. The book is very twisted and about a very Taboo subject. I started reading this b4 I joined Goodreads and this great group! I recommend anyone thining about reading this book to read the reviews on Amazon first.

Me too! Right now, I'm playing catch-up on the books in the series that I missed during a portion of my life when I wasn't doing much reading. By the time Widow's Tears is released, I'll be ready for a China fix!

message 5400: by Nell (last edited Feb 24, 2013 05:12AM) (new)

Nell | 1223 comments Read two Agatha Raisin mysteries, Busy Body and As The Pig Turns, in the last few days. The mysteries were good but I was annoyed by the inconsistencies between the two stories. A supporting character introduced in Busy Body had a significant and unexplained change in his background in the next book. And a significant development between Agatha and Charles was just dropped. Made me wonder if the same person wrote both stories.

Busy Body (Agatha Raisin, #21) by M.C. Beaton As The Pig Turns (Agatha Raisin, #22) by M.C. Beaton
