Coca-Cola cake is wonderful! My grandmother used to make it and I use her recipe! (I'm a Coke-a-holic!)

As an aside, I met Donald Bain at a writer's conference a year or so ago and I said "My father (who was a HUGE MSW fan!) always talked about Jessica Fletcher as if she were real." and Donald replied, "So do I!" He and his wife (co-writer) are charming people. How was the latest book? I haven't snagged it yet...
I don't know if it counts as a cozy or not, but I finished
late last night (early this morning? LOL). Some of the violence/killing seemed a little ... too much? ... for a standard cozy, if that makes any sense. I don't want to say too much and give anything away to those who've not yet read the book. (view spoiler) that said, I really liked the book and have already added the net in the series to my to-read list.["br"]>["br"]>

Good to see someone enjoying this book. I read it last year and was generous when I gave it 2 stars. It has some really good sounding recipes, but the story didn't do a thing for me. Thought about trying the 2nd one to see if I liked it any better, but haven't so far.
Vicky wrote: "I just finished

Just finished Death by Bikini
by Linda Gerber. The story is okay but I have problems with the plot and the actions of the heroine =_=||
Two down, one to go in the Magical Dressmaker Series by Melissa Bourbon Ramirez. I just finished
and liked it very much. Again, I didn't guess who done it lol. I've started the third and am reading it now.
Let It Sew by Elizabeth Lynn Casey. Although I read it after the Christmas season was over, I still enjoyed it tremendously. This is a great series.
Just finished The Walled Flower by Lorraine Bartlett. While the mystery was good, the main character's go it alone attitude annoyed me. She withheld evidence from the police and ended up endangering her life and several others.

I made it as far as the second chapter of book 3 and then threw it across the room. Her mother is a witch with a capital B.
Finished If Walls Could Talk -- really liked this one. Now to get my hands on the next book in the series!
Not quite sure if this series could be considered a 'cozy' as it's a bit 'tougher' in some ways than most cozies. Perhaps police procedural with cozy tendencies? At any rate, I've enjoyed the main character very much and the small town police department is very well done. Three books in the series, starting with
and all three are excellent.
I just finished
which is the third in the series. I liked it as I do genealogy and the main character is a whimpy, shy genealogist who always ends up in deep do-do.
Biblophile wrote: "I just finished The Last Queen of England which is the third in the series. I finished The Intrigue at Highbury: Or, Emma's Match last night. I haven't yet read Emma so I had a bit of trouble in the beginning keeping all the characters straight, but it was a fun read!
I just finished reading
. There was a lot going on in this book which made for a nice, entertaining read!
Just finished
and enjoyed it. I like the old folks doing the detecting. Also, I don't much care for the author's other series, but like this one.

I've read the first two books in the Deadwood Series. Great reads! Looking forward to the third book!NB: these skirt the line between cozy and soft-boiled: lots o' language (the second book includes two usages of that penultimate of female insults) and not explicit sex, but there are sex scenes. Also, the final scene of the first book is NOT cozy at all. Not graphic but - well, ick!
Just finished
. Gave it 2 stars solely because it was just too incredible even for a cozy. Too bad because I liked the characters.

I read these books a while back and was disappointed there were not more, but I saw today where there are two more coming out. One on Feb. 19th and another on May 21st, but they are only as e-books, haven't seen anything about print books.

I really like this series, too. I pre-ordered the one that comes out on the 19th for my Fire. I REALLY hate spending that much on electronic books when I have nothing tangible to show for my money and can't really do anything with the "book" once I've read it. Hope it's as good as the print books were.
