Finished To The Grave yesterday (having trouble finding the link for this). Just started The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. This is only my second attempt at reading a paperback since getting my kindle. So far it's not putting me off, but I find I am less likely to carry it around the house with me to read or take with me when I go out.

Hmmm. Putting Shakespeare's Cuthbert back in the TBR as I have downloaded Dylan Morgan's Hosts - so many books, so little time!

I have finished Fifty Shades Freed - E.L. James. Now I am reading Quenched, A Paranormal Romance - Z.L. Arkadie.
I've finished reading The Client by John Grisham last night and now I'm reading Island of Lost Girls by Jennifer McMahon.
Just finished A Fatal Thaw which I thought really got going in the second half and I ended up enjoying. Now into a really fascinating book by a former warden of the Poison Garden at Alnwick Castle Is That Cat Dead?: And Other Questions about Poison Plants , an entertaining and informative book about plant fact and folklore. Just don't chew those apple pips, ok?
Just finished The Reckoning and then found out that this is second in the series.Doh.Just startedThe Calling of the Grave.
i finished both Recycling and Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops last nighti set aside my percy jackson book as i just wasn't feeling YA lit atm
Just finished Play Dead and The Prophet Motive both of which I enjoyed and have started Dead Man's Footsteps.
Finished In the Blood and started A Long Time Dead It seems it is obvious what is happening but I will continue and see if I am right. I hope there is a surprise in store but I am not holding my breath.
I've finished reading two books by Talli Roland - Build A Man and Construct A Couple; I enjoyed both of them.
Then I read a novella which was free the other day,Tea with Emma, it started really well and I was enjoying it, but the ending was very heavy handed and preachy.
Now I'm reading Hilda Hopkins, Murder She Knit.

Read Office Life by various authors. Not all the stories grabbed me but there were enough that did.Still proof reading so my other current read is on hold.
i read The Battle of the Labyrinth and The Last Olympian last night.that is one series i was sad to leave!!

With a title like that, Hilda Hopkins, Murder She Knit I just had to have it! and it's free at the mo. Thanks Kew.
I finished Hunted Down by Charles Dickens on Fri, it hasn't been converted very well, it is named Detective Stories but there is only one. I wasn't overly impressed. Animal Farm next, can't wait for the month to be over
Louise-Lesley (Elle) wrote: "I remember hating that book with a firey passion Desley. Good luck :P"Animal Farm?
I loved it!
I did it in school too. But I read it the first time when I was probably about 12 so I loved it before dissecting it killed the joy. It's a shame that studying a piece of literature can suck the joy from it. A good teacher will make you love the book even more or, if you don't love it, find the joy within it.
That's what happened to me with Watership Down. Can't say I found it stunning but my teacher was so passionate about it, I found the good bits.

Fortunately for me all the books that we read for exams were all finished before the final year - that was the year that we had a different teacher. I did not get on with that teacher and that year we studied poetry - that is what has given me my enduring dislike of poetry of any description.
I did pass my English Lit - but I was one of only four out of the whole year that didn't take English A level.
Thank goodness she didn't kill my love of reading.
The one book I truly loved that my English teacher made even better was Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry.I need to find that book and re-read it to see if I love it still - I'm sure I will. I was so memorised by the techniques used to describe that world + the story!
I loved Frankenstein and Crow even more after my English A level, but my GCSE in English Lit killed Lord of the Flies for me, perhaps forever. And I've just finished Smallworld and just started Shada
I still love To Kill a Mockingbird after reading it at school. The same teacher also lent me The Bell Jar which i enjoyed but ruined Dracula for me!
Morning,I've just finished The Chemistry Of Death. I was dubious because it was recommended which rarely goes well in my experience but it was very, very good.
The pace is great throughout, lifting when necessary to increase the drama and it's graphic but again only when required. The description, characterisation and dialogue are all very good too.
The only negative is the ending which, compared to the rest of the book, is a bit drawn out and predictable. After all, once the killer is revealed then what else do we need to know? But I'd read more from Simon Beckett, top work.
I'm just about to start Up and Down Stairs: The History of the Country House Servant. Looks good! I'm struggling to find my next fiction read though.
Just finished Hosts by Dylan J Morgan. Classic horror - if this is your scene you'll love it.Just started No More Tears by Andy Barrett. This is the last in his Dead Trilogy (which I loved so far) and no one can say this man's books start slowly!
This morning I finished Quenched - Z.L. Arkadie. Now I am going to carry on the saga with The Fifth Sister, A Paranormal Romance - Z.L. Arkadie.
I finished The Real Walt Disney: A Biography which I really enjoyed but the average person probably wouldn't. I was reading When God Was a Rabbit but then my screen broke when I was halfway through so I picked up my brothers copy of The Five People You Meet in Heaven which I finished on the flight home. I shall have to raid my bookcase for the next one now.
I set aside Hilda Hopkins, Murder She Knit for a while in favour of a regency romance (I do enjoy those). Damaskcat had recommended Carola Dunn and I noticed her regency romances are under £3 at the mo, so I tried one! A Lord for Miss Larkin. I enjoyed it very much - a nice piece of light hearted escapism. Now I've nearly finished reading Hilda...

Can you get a kindle reading thingie for your somputer Jud?I've just read The Farda Short story and it's free today. It's a little gem!
Yea I have it on my laptop but just not a big fan of reading on my computer. I have a few paperbacks I still want to read so this is a good excuse :o)
I've finished reading Island of Lost Girls by Jennifer McMahon and now I'm a couple of chapters into Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James.
I gave in, I finished When God Was a Rabbit on my laptop last night and have started The Interpretation of Murder
I finished Animal Farm last night, I really enjoyed it. I am now trying to get into The Old Curiosity Shop. If I can't, not sure whether I should just finish reading a Sherlock Holmes book (but not sure it classes as a classic), The Legend of Sleepy Hollow or some MR James Ghost Stories.
Thanks Lorraine and Mo, glad you liked Cruel justice and Foul Justice.I'm in the middle of I Have a Secret good book but I've had little time to read lately so it's taking a while to get through. :-)

Actually Elle, we read it about 18 months ago for the village book club and I was bored to tears with it.
I'm having a run on regency romances at the mo. Have read two lately - this wicked man - a regency novel, which wasn't bad, and The Reluctant Lady which I enjoyed but was spoilt by the number of typos. I've noticed how much more careful the authors in this group are at proof reading and correcting typos - shame others don't do the same..
I'm not sure whether to read another regency romance as I have a few more books by Alicia Rasley on my kindle, or to read something completely different. I'm spoilt for choice....
