Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12619 comments Have finished Just after Sunset by Stephen King - don't think it is his strongest collection of shorts. Now about to start Black Book by Ian Rankin - i don't seem to have had much time for reading so far this month so am hoping that will change now

M.A. Comley (melcom) I'm a third of the way through Children of the Fog, now my Mum has pinched my kindle to read it. If you haven't read it yet it honestly is a real page-turner. The dog scratched at the door to be let in earlier and Mum was at a very tense part, no kidding she leapt in the air! LOl

I loved it. Hope the next in the series is out soon.
Another author for me to follow!

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Finished Mist by Mary Fitzgerald.Terrific.
Finished The Waster's Tale certainly wasted my time.
Then started and finished Diamond Jubilee Apocalypse by Stewart King and it was terrific.I got it yesterday for free, and can definitely recommend it.
( sorry some of the links not available)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Mary Fitgerald is such a good writer isn't she? I had a look at the 'Look Inside' for the Waster's Tale. I found the Glaswegian impenetrable. I'm prepared to give that sort of thing a go and I did get deeply into Ian's Abide with Me in spite of its vernacular but Waster's was an accent too far for me.

Interesting so far. I seem to be in a 'space' mode at the moment.

I enjoyed Mist back awhile too. Excellent read.

I've finished reading Crime in the Community which I quite enjoyed but not overly. Now I'm reading the next in the series and I am enjoying that more as I have got to know and like the characters - Reunited in Death.

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Started and finished Earth Magic and really enjoyed it.

Started and finished Stealing Jenny not so good,a tad too much preaching in it for my taste.

Hope to start The Hunter Inside tonight.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Finished Bang: Memoirs of a Relationship Assassin by David Wailing. Really good stuff. It has layers of meaning, I think.
Part way through The Hunter Inside by David McGowan. It's one of those thrillers that won't let go! I think you'll enjoy it Sarah.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12619 comments Just about to start Rage of Angels by Sidney Sheldon - has been a while since I read one of his

Judith Starkston | 27 comments There's been a lot of discussion around Goodreads of Madeline Miller's The Song of Achilles. It's a fascinating way inside that most iconic of heroes. I found the book so engaging I asked Madeline for an interview in case anyone wants to hear this bright and deep-thinking author speaking out about her book.

message 2615: by [deleted user] (new)

I've just finished reading Reunited in Death which I enjoyed much more than Crime in the Community, which is the first in the series.

Now I'm reading book three - A Reformed Character.

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've finished reading Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell last night and I absolutely loved it! Today I've started A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard.

message 2618: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments I'm working through last year's downloads at the mo, so have at last read Debbie Mack's Least Wanted which was a quick read but, to be honest not engaging (and a little light on the reality of child prostitution) and have now almost finished her Identity Crisis which I'm enjoying a little more. Can't wait to get my hands on Hilary Mantel's new one though. Real meat!

Colour me completely surprised that I enjoyed it so much.

message 2622: by [deleted user] (new)

I've just finished A Reformed Character and am now reading the last in the Pitkirtly series, Death at the Happiness Club. I'm really enjoying this series, so when I've finished the last one I plan to pop a thread into the recommendations section.

Pat () | -245 comments Reading Spirit Horses by Alan S. Evans Like it a lot. A gentle story, neads a little polish to really shine. Formatting goes a little strange part way through.

That sounds refreshingly different, Pat. Might give it a go. Love horses.

Won't get round to reading it for a while yet, unfortunately, as I'm determined to finish all last year's downloads first!
Have now finished Debbie Mack's Identity Crisis, which was ok but didn't really grab me. And have started Maureen Lee's Duskwhich is a bit slow getting started, but will persevere for now.

message 2627: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just finished The Hunter Inside by David McGowan. Really good thriller/mystery with supernatural overtones. Just one plot thing that I couldn't get over. Damned good read though.
Then I read Timeline by David Wailing. Another really unusual and compulsive short story by the lad.
Just started a book of flash fiction by Will Macmillan Jones which doesn't appear to be on here. Strange little stories but the formatting is mad.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Just finished One Hundred Years of Solitude I found it a bit confusing to begin with as everyone seemed to have the same name but I got it worked out in the end (once we got past the 17 Aureliano's!).

I tried One Hundred Years of Solitude years ago, but gave up and decided that real solitude was better and less likely to short-circuit my brain :)

Reading The Aeneid at the moment - it's for a genre challenge in another group and the only way I could face War...
