Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments I know you like your fantasy so you must try the book I'm reading at the moment - Leiyatel's Embrace - I'm loving it!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments That does sound right up my street Stu. (Who told you about my fantasies?) ;)

message 2405: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments And Clive S. Johnson is not only a Goodreads author but an Independant one and a fine Yorkshire fellow to boot!

I am far too polite to comment upon the fantasies of another. A few more swigs of this wine and my gallantry may dissipate however!

Ah - thank you Ignite :)

Maureen (Mews) (mews) | 711 comments Just finished Mark of the Dragon Queen. I've deliberately avoided YA novels since for years I seemed to be the only person I knew who didn't "get" Harry Potter. I assumed it was a genre thing. Glad though this was picked as one of our monthly reads because I loved it and would probably not have read it otherwise.

Now reading Saturday Night at Eddie's. So far I am loving this too.

message 2409: by [deleted user] (new)

I've just finished reading Puppy Love and I was disappointed with it. I found the puppy irritating to start with although I did get fond of him eventually. I didn't like the ending, it was very rushed.

Now I'm going back to our authors and having a genre change. Haven't read any mystery for ages so I'm going to read Death in Spigg's Wood.

I've got side tracked. Just downloaded Steven's book which is free today and am reading that instead. It's a kid's book but I'm loving the way that it is written and am enjoying it so far. It's fun.

message 2416: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments After using the very clever 'compare your books' part of the site I realised that Patti and I are about 75% compatible with our books so went for a recent one that she enjoyed! Just started Dark Seduction plus I had to find out what all the penis talk was about :-)

The woman in Black by Kerry Wilkinson

Good read, worked out the plot, but enjoyed it

message 2421: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments Finished Never Too Late by Jay Howard which was a nice read. The only problem was that it followed the reading of Abide with Me by Ian Ayris which is full of colorful characters. 'Never too late' had some great characters, but some just blended into a general niceness. A good book to unwind at night to and it kept me interested :)

It's jumped the queue a bit but after the excitment of having a mysterious author in our midst I've started reading The Virgin Student by Virgin Student .

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I waded through a few freebies in the past couple days.

Let's just not talk about them...

I've now started

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_s...

I read the whole series years ago and LOVED it. I recently got the series dead cheap on kindle and am hoping I enjoy it again as much as I did the first time.

Oh, and it'll be the first book I read on my new baby kindle. I'll let you know how I get on with it...

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Gave up on Bio of a Space Tyrant last night as it just wasn't holding my attention as I needed it to.
Started Death in Spigg's Wood instead.

message 2433: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 75 comments Just finished The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley and loved it. I usually stay well clear of any historical books but this is more romance and time travel. Will definitely read more of this author. Just about to start Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison an author I haven't tried before.

Glad to hear that your A/C is working at last, Patti!

Now I've just started The Runaway Actress

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just decided to start The Imperfect Tense by Mary Fitzgerald. I really enjoyed Richard Wilde and felt (as I often do) that I had arrived late at a book many people were raving about. Might get in a bit earlier with this!

message 2439: by Judith (new)

Judith Starkston | 27 comments For those of you who like Greek mythology, there's a fascinating and quite beautiful book out, The Song of Achilles, that focuses on the love between Achilles and Patroclus. Madeline Miller has interpreted the heroes of the Iliad in provocative and engaging ways. This subject means a lot to me so I read it with great interest and I recommend it highly. Here's my review

message 2440: by Maureen (Mews) (new)

Maureen (Mews) (mews) | 711 comments Finished Saturday Night at Eddie's. Really like this guy's style of writing. Will definitely read more from him. Just started my first non-indie for a few months The Sisters Brothers.

I love that sort of thing Judith. I read a great book about the quest for the golden fleece many years ago, told from Medea's point of view by her handmaiden. I really wish I could remember the title as I'd love to re-read it.

I'll have a look at Song of Achilles. Thanks for the reccie!

message 2443: by Jacquie (new)

Jacquie | 99 comments Just finished Loisaida -- A New York Story which I did not enjoy and The Man From U.N.D.E.A.D. - Zombie Apocalypse Now which I enjoyed and plan to buy others in the series.

Have just started an old favourite Diana by R F Delderfield.

message 2444: by [deleted user] (last edited Apr 24, 2012 01:12AM) (new)

I've just fnished reading Victoria Connelly's latest book and loved it, The Runaway Actress, a real feel-good escapist book set in a quaint little village in Scotland - I can just see it as a film. If you want a bit of light relief this book provides it!

I'm not sure what I will be reading next...too many choices so little time...

;0)

message 2445: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Finished Death in Spigg's Woods today. It started well but then I felt like the same ground was being gone over again and again so I found myself skimming.
Didn't really 'connect' with any of the characters either.

Have started re-reading a book that I loved when I read it a while ago. It's not been released yet so I had to stop myself from sharing a bit that made me laugh out loud to my Facebook page. I've saved the highlight though. ;)

Ha! I'm chortling thinking about it!
