I've just finished I'd Sooner Starve! which I quite enjoyed but didn't find hillarious.

Now I've just started Mary Fitzgerald's new books, The Imperfect Tense and it's looking very good so far!

:0)

message 2354: by Nansi (new)

Nansi (nansic) | 6 comments I've just started the new Mary Fitzgerald too - in fact I broke off mid-way through The Book of Human Skin to start it. Mary is one of my favourite authors so I couldn't resist and as Karen (Kew) says, http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13... is looking good so far!

message 2355: by Nansi (new)

Nansi (nansic) | 6 comments I should add that I was enjoying The Book of Human Skin very much and I've recently finished
David Copperfield in honour of Charles Dickens' anniversary.

message 2356: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm on chapter four now Nansi and I think the book is up to her usual standard - it's beautifully written and a joy to read so far!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just started (even though I'm in the middle of another book) Jon Rosenberg's Pantheon of the Dead. I think his writing style has matured even more. Hmmm. Enjoying this.

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Just finished The Other Daughter which I enjoyed. Just about to start Dead World

message 2359: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm 64% into The Imperfect Tense now but I have to stop for a breather or I will be reading this all night. This is one of Mary's best books, up there with Richard Wilde. I can really recommend this!

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments Finished Fake Kate by David Wailing and was quite disappointed with the end, but quite enjoyed the book still. Then read Death in Spigg's Wood by Linda Gruchy which was a fun book. Not sure what to read next...

message 2367: by [deleted user] (new)

I finsihed Mary Fitzgerald's lastest novel this morning, The Imperfect Tense and I think that it is one of her best. Doesn't quite knock Richard Wilde off the number one spot, but is a very close runner. I'm not sure how to describe it - it's a love story but not romance, there are darker themes and mence running through the tale, but it is beautifully written. I loved it and it's one that I will definately read again and can whole-heartedly recommend.

Then I read a novella/novellette (whichever is longer),A Fine Woman, which I also enjoyed. This is a historical novel set during and just after world war II. Another one which I can recommend.

I have now finished and enjoyed "Best Foot Forward" and reviewed it on 3 Amazons and Goodreads:

Susie is a Goodreads author.

Reading "The Recruiter" by Roger Weston but it is not up my street really. Much too far-fetched.

Vic Heaney (vic_heaney) | 689 comments I couldn't get on with "The Recruiter" so have ditched it and I have now started "Sendero" by Max Tomlinson.

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments The Wizard of Time by G.L. Breedon Great fast-paced story. A fantasy for all ages, though geared toward young teens. One of the best indie books I've read so far!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I've just finished Jon Rosenberg's Pantheon of the Dead which was a brilliant story. It's spoilt for me though by the many small (and a few bigger) errors. He reckons to be issuing an update but not for a couple of weeks so I shall have to hang fire with a review. :(

message 2376: by [deleted user] (new)

I finished reading Pied and Prodigious last night and I can recommend it as an entertaining read if you need a laugh! I giggled most of the way through it and laughed out loud a couple of times. There is even a Dicey (Darcy) moment with a swim in a pond...

Now I'm reading Puppy Love which I bought in one of the daily deals. I think that I will enjoy it - I've only just started it.

message 2377: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Jon Rosenberg has uploaded the new version of Pantheon of the Dead and I've added my review. It's really a powerful bit of writing. Very good indeed.
Just started Dark Tidings by Ken Magee. Two parallel stories so far but very nicely and humorously told.

message 2378: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 75 comments Hi Ignite. Did you have to ask for it or was it some sort of automatic thing as that might be my next book? I downloaded it tithe day it came out I think so it will definitely be the older version.

Yes you'll have the older version. It was altered overnight. Go to 'help' - right hand on the top of your Amazon screen and click. Half way down is a button saying 'contact us' click that then whenever there's a choice go for Kindle, and Kindle content then use the email box to ask. Mention the book and the author - I usually mention the ASIN too - it's in the product description. It only take a couple of hours and you'll get an email back.

message 2389: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm struggling a bit with Puppy Love, so I had a break and read short a free romance which was a bit naff - Her Sister's Keeper, now I'm trying again with Puppy Love - I find the little dachshund a little irritating, although he's sweet, he talks too much! I shouldn't have strayed away from "our" authors because I've read some cracking stuff that they've written. I'll keep going a bit longer with Puppy Love, then I'm going to read something else by one of our authors!!

:0)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments You're alright DM I had to stop reading yours cause apparently my kindle doesn't like a bath. I'm now reading the DTB Tiger Hills by Sarita Mandanna . Got about halfway through Pied and Prodigious by D.M. Andrews though and was very funny least I can still read it on my laptop when I'm at home

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Ah, there's your mistake: should've been a pond, not a bath. ;)

Oh dear. Have you read The King's Speech: How One Man Saved the British Monarchy? I found that fascinating - it's not a book of the film, but is written by Lionel Logue's grandson using original diaries, papers and newspaper cuttings that his grandfather had saved.
