Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) | 942 comments I've finally given up on Halfhead - Stuart MacBride

"I am sorry to say that I have given this as much energy and time as I can, but I still can't get into the storyline. I have no idea the characters are like the way they are. Not sure where the story is going with a prolific serial killer not doing much as it is and why the police officer is just sat in a pub moaning.

Oh well, I do love Stuart MacBride's books. But I really couldn't get my head and teeth into this Sci-fi style book".

David Hadley I've just started The Comedy is Finished by Donald E. Westlake . I've been reading Westlake's books since... oooh, the 70s, probably, and always liked them a great deal. This is - apparently - one found amongst his stuff after he died.

I'm jealous - I'd love the time for a 5 hour bath, and also to read a Kerry Wilkinson book, I bought one in I think the Christmas sale, the first 3 for 99p but not got round to reading them yet.

I'm nearly half way through both my paperback and kindle book, good job as I'm 9 books behind again!!

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) | 942 comments Morning all, now on to Book 3 Crave - Marina Anderson.

I understand they are not everyone's cup of tea, but these are really good mini series kinda books lol. Shame I only have 5 to review, but will definitely be thinking about the other 3 to finish the series lol.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just finished Angel of Rosetown by Jennifer Hanning. Not what I was expecting - a bit sweeter. I was looking for a different sort of 'supernatural' I guess!

message 6112: by Karen (new)

Karen | 40 comments Finished The Abomination - well written, and a gripping story - it's made me want to read the rest of the trilogy as soon as they're launched! Currently reading Diary of an Assassin - not as good as I thought it would be if I'm honest, but I'll persevere in the hope this improves.

Natasha Holme (natashaholme) | 832 comments Just finished The Robots' Rebellion by David Icke, which was first class, walloping entertainment. My review.

Just started The Queen and I by Sue Townsend.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I just finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows I can't remember when I last cried so much, there is something very satisfying about it though.

Also read Eddie's Shorts Vol. 2 which were ok.

message 6119: by Michael (new)

Michael Brookes (technohippy) I've just finished reading The Third Rule - Part One: Atrocities and it was an excellent read.

I'm now onto Level Zero and it's off to a good start.

message 6120: by Natasha (new)

Natasha Holme (natashaholme) | 832 comments Just finished The Queen and I by Sue Townsend. Clever, and good fun.

Just started Diary by Chuck Palahniuk.

message 6121: by Adele (new)

Adele (adelemitch) Just finished Mad About the Boy started off well but really lost its way in the middle & ended very predictably. Now reading Galápagos quite interesting so far, don't know any of his other work

message 6122: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Finished Time After Time which picked up in the second half. I'm now half way through Interpreters but it's a bit of a trudge. Not sure whether to give up. Similar territory has already been covered admirably by the likes of Hare with Amber Eyes, and When Hitler stole pink rabbit.

David Hadley Just started - and can't seem to stop, I'm already well past halfway - The Last Hero The Last Hero (Discworld, #27) by Terry Pratchett . Excellent stuff.

message 6128: by David (new)

David Hadley Just started My Granny Writes Erotica My Granny Writes Erotica by Rosen Trevithick . Having led a sheltered life I'm keen to learn more about things like BSE and other such practices.

message 6129: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Just started The Sea Detective by Mark Douglas-Home. I'm a bit put off by some wandering punctuation, particularly the commas. Also irritated by something in the acknowledgements where he seems to imply that usually all research needs can be satisfied through journalism (he's a journalist, though). However, it is just about starting to draw me in.

message 6130: by Karen (new)

Karen | 40 comments Reading Shunt The Story of James Hunt by Tom Rubython - really enjoyng this, as it ties in brilliantly with the film Rush.

That's because it wasn't there - I searched using the ASIN & added it when it didn't show in the search :)

Karon | 41 comments Just finished First to Find (Caching Out, #1) by Morgan C. Talbot which as a geocacher I found a good read. Non-cachers might struggle with the concepts of Muggles, cacher names and Travel Bugs though.
Just started
Murder on the Mind The Jeff Resnick Mysteries by L.L. Bartlett for our Kindle book club

message 6137: by Adele (last edited Oct 15, 2013 09:21AM) (new)

David Hadley Finished My Granny Writes Erotica - rather good, well worth reading.

Started The Hunger Games The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games #1) by Suzanne Collins , which daughter No. 2 thinks is a good one.

I stood in Waterstone's trying to decide between The Chessmen and The Sea Detective to read on a particular journey. Wish I'd gone for The Chessmen.

I read the three Lewis books over the summer, I thought they were all brilliant books. Although technically they each stand alone, I'm glad I read them in order as the background story is more important than the current mystery to be solved.

Pat () | -245 comments Just finished The Lost Library by A.M.Dean. not bad

message 6144: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments I persisted and finished Interpreters, but it was dull, disappointing compared with other books covering the same storyline. Now started Painter of Silence which in contrast feels far more 'real' and so far is absorbing.

message 6145: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I finished The Body in the Library,N or M?, Evil Under the Sun,One, Two, Buckle My Shoe and Sad Cypress.

Natasha Holme (natashaholme) | 832 comments Just finished Diary by Chuck Palahniuk. Dark, sick, and weird, if you want to know. Not quite Adrian Mole.

A few pages into Quite Ugly One Morning by Christopher Brookmyre. Hilarious already.

Yes, do. It's utterly crazy. A non-scary attempt at horror. Still rattling around my mind. Realising how clever it is. Very different from Fight Club, apparently.
