That's the one. I got sidetracked by a thumbnail for the wonderful Yvonne Fair I'm afraid.

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments I've shifted a Granny! After days of zilch, zilch and more zilch. It's not much, but it keeps me amused (now, where've I heard that before?)

Good luck with the promotion!

Thanks David. I would be interested to know what you think of it - it does seem to divide opinion rather ;-)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Today's the last day of the FREE Jambalaya by Philip Whiteland giveaway (and good riddance say some) If you fancy taking a chance on a book that's absolutely barmy and has no redeeming features, this is the time to do it ;-)

message 1608: by Penny (new)

Penny (glorybe) I picked up a copy of your Jambalaya yesterday on Amazon for free, couldn't get a good book for much less!

Thanks Penny. I would just warn you that a number of people who liked the 'nostalgedy' books did not like this one. It is very different and I think you just have to approach it as a bit of fun and nothing more. I would be interested to know what you think.

Penny (glorybe) Yes I have seen a couple of reviews, but I am willing to give it a go!! If it's a bit of fun, I can't go wrong can I?

That's the spirit, Penny!

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Well, that was fun! I've checked and it seems to be about every 3 months that I get fed up with watching my static sales figures and try to liven things up with a Freebie for Jambalaya. Always gives a nice impression of progress!

I meant to add that I would be really grateful if anyone who has downloaded it could leave a review, that would be much appreciated. Doesn't have to gush with praise, can be anything you like ;-)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments I was thinking about my imaginary 'A Kick at the Pantry Door' restaurant and what it might serve, and that got me thinking about my ideal three course meal. In all honesty, this could change by the hour and the following selection is hardly the triumph of haute cuisine, but I thought I would quite like a Savoury Duck sandwich to start, Cod, chips and mushy peas as a main course and something like Death by Chocolate to finish off (this explains why I look like I do on the cover).

What would your ideal three course meal consist of, if you could choose any cuisine from any era?

I take it the notion of food doesn't excite you?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments At the moment, a bath and bed is the thought in the front of my mind.

Food.
Let me think...

Starter : Melon I think, as I don't want something that takes my appetite away. But it can have all sorts of exotic fruit coulis on it...
Main : A nice tender slab of roast beef with peas, mashed parsnip and a couple of roast potatoes is very hard to beat. Unless you go down the steak and chips route...
Dessert : Tirimisu, banoffee pie or ice cream.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments And pour moi!
Start with cold cuts and pickles. Just because I never do because Himself hates pickles.
Main - roast lamb. Loads of gravy and mash.
Pud - tiramisu - but I'm not sharing GL's. I want one of my own!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I know of someone who makes divine tirimisu...

Sounds good, but as you'll know I'm not a fan of mash and I gave up on lamb years ago.

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Delighted that everyone has been enjoying the spectacle of the Poor Sid's meteor shower. Poor Sid, as you know, was the ill-fated Sid Buckle, the first British astronaut whose misguided attempt to eat a baked bean sandwich with a pint of Guinness in zero gravity led to the trail of debris we now pass through once a year.

Well, that engendered a massive wave of apathy! ;-)

Sounded like a good idea to me, zero gravity notwithstanding

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Guinness is never a good ideas im my view.

Not Hank surely, he must be getting on a bit now!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Nope. Marvin the Paranoid Android. Hank Marvin couldn't really be described as a superfast robot, could he?

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Just noticed that Chris, the story-reading ape, has given Jambalaya by Philip Whiteland four stars, which just goes to show that at least some people (or even apes, in this case) actually like it ;-)

Curses! I was using the Dutch spelling, of course ;-)

Hustle, bustle and never have time for lunch

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Oh I make sure I have time for lunch. It is very high on my priority list. Just underneath dinner in fact.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Or was that the title of the next book?

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Philip wrote: "Gingerlily - Goodbye, and thanks for all the fish. wrote: "And I have to line up all my pens properly."

No, not the title of the next book (it could never apply to me) but it did make me think of a little quiz. A free copy of any of my books to the first person to get the following:

1. Which song does this line come from, and
2. Which film featured the song, and
3. Who was the author of the book on which the film was based?

Have fun!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I have no idea. I'm sure someone will know though.

Ok, gotta go alphabetise my shampoo.

Well, I haven't been trampled in the rush, so either it's too difficult or nobody gives a monkey's ;-)
