I'm gonna do this with you Jen. But, since I read lots of other genres too, I'm gonna keep a second list with all the other books! Add It Up Year Long Challenge.

Aug 1, 2011 - July 31, 2012
YA -
MG -
Thanks everyone! I am happy to get some takers. Regarding XVI:
If the author is one you haven't read before. (5)
If the book is a stand alone. (4)
If the book has been on your shelf/ereader for more than a month. (4)
If the author is a debut writer (or first YA or MG book of that author) for the year 2011 or 2012. (3)
5+4+4+3=16. :) Yep I know that is a great one for this challenge!
I have more to list but I don't know if I will get to all of them in August or not.
Yep I just double checked that! Oh my gosh. I had no clue... I am so embarrassed! *blushes* I will fix it!
So....30 points would be the max available for any book. Hmmmmm...... I thought it was an either/or kind of thing. Now I need to double check my points!
No it isn't either or. For example a debut stand-alone released this year would be:If the author is one you haven't read before. (5)
If the book is a stand alone. (4)
If the author is a debut writer (or first YA or MG book of that author) for the year 2011 or 2012. (3)
At least 12 points! More if anything else fits. I hope that makes sense. I don't want anyone confused. It is supposed to be fun! Btw if anyone made a goal for themselves for an incentive for a number of points it would be fun to share if you want.
I personally wasn't counting a first in series as the most recently published if it is a new series. I kind of felt that would be cheating a bit lol. :-P
Cindy (eclecticfirefly) wrote: "So....30 points would be the max available for any book. Hmmmmm...... I thought it was an either/or kind of thing. Now I need to double check my points!"I think it would be hard to get a book that has the combination needed to get 30 or more points! Some are obviously mutually exclusive. A book cannot be a series book and a stand alone at the same time. It also can't have 2 release dates. Also I think it is unlikely that people will read a second or later book in a series and have never read the author before. Some combos just wouldn't make sense.
I am trusting people to be honest here. There is no point in not being honest. There are no prizes and the only goals are the ones we set for ourselves. :)
I understood the 5+4+3 part. What I had not realized was that you could get 4 points EACH for:If the book is a stand alone.
If the book has been on your shelf/ereader for more than a month.
I thought we could only get 4 points 1 time per book. I agree with not counting a first in series as the most recently published. *scrambles to make sure I didn't do that already*
Nope if you have a stand alone you have been meaning to read for a while then go ahead and give it the 8 points from that category. For example my John Green books I have been meaning to get to. :)
Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) wrote: "I personally wasn't counting a first in series as the most recently published if it is a new series. I kind of felt that would be cheating a bit lol. :-P"You could edit it to say "most recently published sequel in a series" or something along those lines to help keep people from doing that.
This challenge looks awesome! Maybe it'll help me finally get around to some books I've had for a while. :) I'll post as I go along.Overall points: 120

Started my first book today. The Blue Moon Cafe isn't YA, but I have to mail it by the end of the week, along with a couple others. Do have 1 YA book to read and mail this week, but I'll get to it a little later.
I've finished 4 books so far this month.

I want the Touch one. I want a Fire too... but for more than just reading. I would use it for web browsing and games and am trying to decide if I can wait a generation or not. :-/
