R3 TEAM THREAD: Team #2 ~ Double Trouble [FIRST PLACE]

Beautiful, heartbreaking, life-affirming.
I loved this book. I love this series. I hate that I have to wait close to a year to read the end.
In the acknowledgments, Ms. Aguirre says, "Our heroine's come a long way with your (referring to A. Sowards) expertise. There's only one book left, and I'm proud of what we've accomplished. Thank you. And it's about time Jax got her happy ending, isn't it?" That gives me hope as I'm cheering for Jax and March. I also love the relationship she and Vex have established.
The first book of this series, Grimspace, was fantastic~exciting, intriguing characters with non-stop action~it hooked me, and I'm still hooked. Jax and March are apart physically through much of this tale, but not truly apart. Vex, Dina, Hit, and many others play make solid appearances, but Jax is riveting.
She survives her complete alteration of grimspace beacons and goes on trial for it, and the deaths of a few hundred who were lost when that happened, as she was saving the countless others from the Morgut. Jax, being Jax, comes through, and embarks on her quest to right her personal wrongs.
I really couldn't put it down, and luckily, the family was quite pleased with take-out tonight. LOL...will have to actually cook tomorrow to make it up to them for being buried in a book ALL evening...and have to go buy the bribe for son's willingness to not bother me (a beginner's Italian book as he's decided to study Italian...and I'll help him with it, as he has agreed to spend equal time studying English...)
Now, I know at least five books I'll be reading next August...if not sooner!

Holy crap. Man, do I love this series. A review is pretty impossible, because there is just so much to talk about, but basically anything I write will be spoilers for those who haven't started this series yet, or even those who have read the series, but just haven't gotten to this book yet.
And for those of you who haven't started this series, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??? O.M.G. is it awesome. Are you afraid it will be another 6 years until GRRM gets the 6th book in our grubby little fingers? Are you concerned that the series will drag out and something unspeakable will happen to GRRM before he completes it?
Hogwash. You are sooooo missing out on one of the best series out there--don't be a chicken. ;)
But, a short & sweet--if vague--review.
He is tying up loose ends, characters are converging at key locations, and the story is heading toward the eventual conclusion, and I'm fairly confident I know what it is, now more than ever after reading this book. But the wonderful thing about GRRM is that even if I know what is going to eventually happen, he still manages to shock the shit out of me on a regular basis. I had to lift my jaw off the floor a couple times in this one, and I love that about this series. Keep the shocks coming, Georgie-boy.
I will say that I wasn't super crazy about the first half with the timeline issues. There were a few times where I was like, wait...I thought he/she was in Old Town/Bravos/Kings Landing/dead/wounded/married/in the dungeon at Casterly Rock/etc. And then I would remember. Oh yeah, we're still reading the stupid past.
But I will forgive my Georgie-boy, because he is the shizzit.

Bonds of Justice by Nalini Singh - ★★★★★ - 23 Oct 11
This book, along with the previous one, I'd been apprehensive about because it didn't feature a Changeling hero or heroine. Happily, it turns out that it wasn't a deal-breaker and I was able to enjoy the book as much as the others.
I liked that Max was just an ordinary guy, who happened to have natural shields. There were a few times I thought the maybe he'd find out he was one of the Forgotten because he didn't know much about his father. I thought the J-Psy were an interesting group. I'm surprised the author had Sophia tell us how the Net views her instead of showing us how Sophia learned about it herself -- like Faith and the NetMind.
Kaleb Krycheck, such an enigma. A little more revealed and I still don't know what to make of him. And Nikita surprised me, too, in this book.
Looking forward to the next book.

Lots of action and violence in this one. Liked the different take on vampire hunting.

Succubus Revealed 10/23

Predictable finish to this series. Along the way there is bowling, elfing, reincarnation, and a trial in hell.

33% done, just put the kids to bed and off to finish this bad boy.

This was a fast read, I didn't want to put it down, which made me originally want to give it 4 stars, but really, there wasn't much that made it great, and I really don't think I'll remember much about it in a month's time, hence the 3.5 stars.
It started off better than it finished, there were "secrets" that my 11 year old son could have figured out half way through the book. But I really enjoyed the world the author created, and I liked the characters--I'm always a sucker for an actual smart girl in YA, instead of the annoying crop of TSTL heroines.
Also, the romance was sweet and unhurried, which was a refreshing change from the usual YA fare of insta-love.
Another change from the usual YA fare is that this is a standalone book. If it wasn't, I'd definitely read the next one, this one felt like maybe it was a set up for more to come.
