Okay, but a second grader named Miguel just came in and talked Pirate to me the whole recess and it was hilarious!!! He didn't know one single pirate word, he just scrunched up his face and talked really loud and gravelly. The last syllable of each sentence was emphasized. I fell on the table at one point because it was so funny.

You're going iritate the shit out of me today by speaking in what tends to sound like a particularly bad attempt at an Irish brogue with a couple of 'yohohos' thrown in for good measure.
Maybe there was once a time when this day seemed more of a celebration of the old school folks like Blackbeard & Ching Shih, and less of an inspired contest to discover who can quote the most Long John Silver ads whilst prancing about like the fey version of Wesley from The Princess Bride.
Honestly? The more I think about it, F*ck you Pirate, F*ck you Ninja, F*ck you Cowboy & F*ck you Astronaut.

The worst thing about 'Talk Like a Pirate Day' is that it presumes that the Piratically spoken will have something to say that actually bears merit. Yet given the fact that their ranks include such noteables as Dave Barry, Jimmy Buffet, and every overweight balding caucasian who's ever had a wet dream involving himself and Johnny Depp, goes light years towards explaining why we only have to deal with this travesty once a year and 9 times out of 10 the conversation goes along the lines of....
"Hey Steve, hows it going?"
"Much like you friend, I'm just trying to make my way through the marketing travesty that is 'Talk like a Pirate day'".
