Comparisons and (maybe unintentional) backhanded compliments

When they said it, it was worded: "You look like that guy that played the Scarecrow in Batman Begins."

Sometimes it helps to consider the spirit in which a compliment was conceived. In this case, probably Gordon's gin.
But the other comparisons--Emily Blunt, Felicia Day--seem plausible and nice.

A bunch of us once worked a 24 hour shift because the entire store had to be reset, but it was fun because we could watch movies and goof around while we worked. I miss it; I only left because the money sucked and and the company was cutting back hours after they declared bankruptcy. The only drawbacks aside from the money was the ugly polo shirt, working on Christmas and the occasional irate customer, but even they could be fun to mess with, especially if they were jerks.

He's very pretty. Lovely hair. :)

Honestly, I think his features are more delicate and feminine than mine, so the comparison is feeling less and less like an insult.
They were most often referring to Emily Blunt:

Which is very nice.
or to Felicia Day:

Also very nice.
And then someone told me that I look like Cillian Murphy (who is a dude):

I can't quite figure out if this should be insulting or not. He is very nice looking. And yet, I am a girl, thank you very much.
Anyone else experienced unintentionally back-handed compliments? Or intentional, for that matter.
