Bands that everybody likes...or at least doesn't dislike
In my aging, hipster-doofus universe, most if not all of my peers (early to mid-50's) are unanimous in their admiration of:
David Bowie (pre-Berlin trilogy, anyway)
Roxy Music (Bryan Ferry was big with the ladies back in high school)
Led Zeppelin
Bob Seger (it's a regional thiing)

Reader's Digest condensed version: I detest them.

Why?
I know people that don't like them. That don't like the commercialism, the pop sounds, all tha jazz....you are the first I have heard say "detest". Just curious.

If they hadn't split up, we would've been spared Wings. Herman's Hermits, The Move and the Small Faces were all better.

Plus, who give a fat fuck who the Walrus was?
And, oh yeah: Number 9, number 9, number 9, number 9...

Wait a minute. I've been bamboozled. I vowed a while back to never again enter the Beatles fray here at GR.
I. Am. An. Idiot.
Carry on, Fab Four faithful.

Generic, but is there anyone who doesn't like Motown?

I've never heard anyone say they didn't like Luther Vandross.

I'm a NJ failure because I don't like Bruce either.
I like a handful of songs by Bon Jovi and Journey - in limited doses and certainly not while sober.
But "City of the Angels" sends me right 'round the bend.

I couldn't name one Luther song if you put a gun to my head.
Name one of his hits.

Howzabout the Monkees? Don't think I've ever heard anyone work up a head of steam and direct it towards them.

My mom once said that she thought the Ramones reminded her of the Beach Boys. That's pretty close to saying they're lame. I don't share her opinion though.

Yes to Seger but no to the rest for me. Back in high schook it was a lot of Lynyrd Skynrd, Black Sabbath, Doobie Brothers, Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead.

Guns N Roses sucked.

Everyone minus one. In fact, if I were to ever come out and support enhanced interrogation, the first thing I'd do is replace waterboarding with Hold the Line.

There is no more divisive band than The Grateful Dead for my friends and family. They are loved or hated, no one seems to be on the fence.

I see that too with my friends and family. I love the Dead, my husband hates them. But he loves Judas Priest so...

I'm not the world's biggest Beach Boys fan, but I detect a bit of an influence here:

Yep, myself included but what a boring world if everyone liked the same thing, huh?
Without those differences we'd be robbed of the opportunity to piss each other off on a daily basis.

Minus many.
The answer, IMO, is zero. Though I can appreciate that most of the bands mentioned have a gruntload of fans and don't suck (in the tradition of, say, Miley..."
I'm not opposed to Joni Mitchell except at Christmas with that skating song.
There are too many bands that are favorites of mine, many of whom have been listed here.
But if there's one band that sends me on a climb-the-water-tower-and-go-on-a-shooting-rampage, it's the fucking Eagles.
I can't stand the fucking Eagles.

1. The Ramones
2. The Clash
I'm not including A) people who have never heard of the band, and/or B) people who are ambivalent to the music enough not to form an opinion. In other words, beyond those two categories, I've never heard anyone say "The Clash suck" or "The Ramones are lame."
Thoughts?
