Just finished Iced by Karen Moning. It is a good book. I enjoy her story telling-she really draws you into whats going on. My problem is that the main character is 14, and if you have read anything by Moning you know she is sensual writer. So you have these three men drooling over this 14 year old and it is rather creepy. Yes, they keep saying that they are waiting until she gets older..but still, ewww!

Also finished Alice in Zombieland by Showalter and loved it! It is not your typical zombie book and no one falls in love with a zombie, because, again, eww!

Heather (rabidglow) I just finished Iced last night! I love the Fever series, but yeah... I wish the protagonist wasn't 14 in Iced. That being said, I wasn't really creeped out as much as impatient for her to get older/stop speaking like an annoying teenager.

Yeah I'm hoping in the next one she gets stuck in fairy what seems like 6 years to her but it's only been months in the real world

E.B. Hood (melabeth) | 12 comments Ok here it goes, I am reading, Anna Dressed in Blood, Pretty when she Dies 2 and the Discovery of Witch's. I am also Authoring my second book, Melabeth Forgive me for I am Sin. And I will throw me a plug because of some small errors in my first book; I am re-reading it for V2. And if you are not familiar with my work, my first book is called Melabeth the Vampire.

So I just finished Desperately Seeking Shapeshifter and I enjoyed it. Sarah is a werewolf who is afraid of everything, including her inner wolf due to being a victim of domestic violence. To make matters worse, a local pack want to force her into becoming a member of their pack, where she would once again be someones plaything. Needless to say, this is not appealing to her. To get out of these predicament, she turns to a bear of a man (aka shapeshifting bear) to pretend to be her mate. Little did she know that she would start developing feelings for her gruff protector.

Just finished Darynda Jones latest book Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet (Charley Davidson, #4) by Darynda Jones and I am happy to report that it was fantastic! If you loved the others in the series, then this book will not dissapoint!

Peaches (princesspeaches) | 94 comments I need to put Iced on hold. I just finished Crimson Frost (Mythos Academy). I have two books from Katie MacAlister to read and I have to finish reading The Fault in our Stars. Fault is like a grown up Lurlene McDaniels and it's really hard for me to read.

message 161: by Emily (new)

Emily (librarylil) | 54 comments The "Young at Heart" bookgroup will be discussing The Fault in Our Stars this Tuesday (January 29th) at 5:30pm at the Kannapolis Library if you are interested, Peaches. Adults and teens welcome.

Peaches (princesspeaches) | 94 comments I wish I could! Unfortunately, my husband never gets home until 7-7:30pm. Really puts a damper on any plans I would like to make.

The new Macalister book was fine...I have discovered that I enjoy her dragon books more than her vampires because they all kind of seem to go along the same lines.

message 164: by Peaches (new)

Peaches (princesspeaches) | 94 comments Me too. Aisling is my favorite though. I'm not a huge fan of the Ysolde/Baltic storyline. They sort of annoy.

message 165: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (chey1) | 652 comments Mod
Who can compete with Aisling? I mean, she has a demon dog

message 166: by Erik (new)

Erik | 97 comments Found Seanan McGuire's October Daye books on io9.com's 10 Book Series So Addictive, You Never Want Them to End list. But the library's only got book six :( Oh well, it's practically tradition for me to not read a series in proper order.

message 167: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (chey1) | 652 comments Mod
I will see if we can get the rest.

message 168: by Erik (new)

Erik | 97 comments The October Daye books are pretty good straight detective stories like early Hamilton, Butcher or Andrews. Her InCryptid books are goofy fun, or the first one was.

I loved Discovery of Witches. It's a huge book so it may appear intimidating but it is a quick, gentle read. Loved it! Cannot wait to start book 2 in the series!

Erik | 97 comments Have to go back and reread The Hallows to be caught up for my signed copy of Ever After.

I wish March would hurry up and get here. It seems that a lot of my favorite authors are all releasing there books in March. It makes February a very sad time.

Reading Dark Frost (Mythos Academy, #3) by Jennifer Estep and so far I love it. I just started reading it last night and was only going to read a couple of pages before bed. And then Estep kills people. Needless to say I stayed up waay past my bedtime. Darn you Estep for sucking me in!

Currently reading The Indigo Spell (Bloodlines, #3) by Richelle Mead and it is a nice addition to the series. A little angsty. Also finished Crimson Frost (Mythos Academy, #4) by Jennifer Estep and it was fantastic! Love Estep

message 177: by Peaches (new)

Peaches (princesspeaches) | 94 comments Awesome! There are a ton of books I'm wanting to read.

The Easter Bunny really loves me too. :D

message 178: by Zoe (new)

Zoe Forward (zforward) I've just started Lover At Last (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #11) by J.R. Ward , and so far it's living up to expectations.

message 179: by LaNita (new)

LaNita (lanita_lynn) I just started reading John Scalzi's "The Human Division" series. It is sold as a set of 13 small installments (kindle) on Amazon and is a continuation of his "Old Man's War" books. Since all of the installments are out now, it can probably be bought as a book. The first installment, "The B Team" was really good!

Not really paranormal, but if you like sci-fi futuristic outer space stuff, I highly recommend Scalzi's books.

I've hit somewhat of a slup bookwise. After reading a couple of really good books, its hard to get through some of the ok books. I need to just buckle down and have a two day read-a-thon.

Peaches (princesspeaches) | 94 comments I started The Goddess Test at midnight. Woke up at 12:45, still holding the book open.

Jessica (chey1) | 652 comments Mod
What did you think about the Goddess Test? I read it about a year ago when I was going through my mythology faze and now I cannot remember if it was good or not. I know there are more in the series...

message 183: by LaNita (new)

LaNita (lanita_lynn) Just started the 4th book in the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost... I started the series on Friday and it has been pretty much a Cat and Bones marathon since! Good books!!!!

message 184: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (chey1) | 652 comments Mod
The first one in that series hooked me. I laughed out loud and then had to reread certain passages because they were just that good.

message 185: by LaNita (new)

LaNita (lanita_lynn) I know!!! I had to stop reading a couple times because I had tears in my eyes from laughing and could no longer see the words! Frost has a wicked humor!!!

message 186: by Debbie (last edited May 16, 2013 08:56PM) (new)

Debbie | 62 comments Just finished reading a free book on Amazon called Bonded (1st book in the series Law of the Lycans) by Nicky Charles. It was really good. Had about 400 pages. The whole series is free on Amazon. There are five books in all (all have about 400 or more pages). She just ask that you donate the money you would send on the books to an animal shelter or food bank. Thought to was very nice and an unusual request of an author. Can't wait to start the next book in this series.

That is awesome that an author would do that! I will definitely have to look at that series.

Finished the latest Amanda Carlson book Hot Blooded (Jessica McClain, #2) by Amanda Carlson and I was not really impressed. It was like every few pages something dangerous would appear, her brother would be like, stay away and she would still risk it and come out ok in the end. And then repeat. No real answers on anything.

Finished reading School Spirits (School Spirits, #1) by Rachel Hawkins School Spirits by Rachel Hawkins. It is a spin off of her Hex Hall series. Loved it! The main character, who has been sheltered from the real world even though she is a monster killer. Suddenly she is thrust into high school and must defeat a deadly ghost while trying to do her math homework. The nerd girl in me could totally relate to her awkwardness in social situations and her love of teen dramas.

message 190: by Peaches (new)

Peaches (princesspeaches) | 94 comments That one is about the sassy family member, right?

message 191: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (chey1) | 652 comments Mod
It's the youngest Brannigans daughter. I may have enjoyed that one more than Hex Hall

message 192: by Peaches (new)

Peaches (princesspeaches) | 94 comments Put it on hold. I'll probably be there to pick it up on Saturday, depending on the kids. We are picking up 3 foster kittens tonight, so they may not let me leave the house.

message 193: by LaNita (new)

LaNita (lanita_lynn) Just finished Laurell K. Hamilton's newest Anita Blake book, "Affliction". Best Anita Blake book I have read in quite awhile. Less porn (a lot less) and more paranormal! I enjoyed it!

I need to read the last three books. I went on a strike from her because I miss all the fun killing that she used to do.

message 195: by LaNita (new)

LaNita (lanita_lynn) Lots of killing in this one! My only complaint about this book is that the monster she is after in this one was a bit of a letdown. Thought he would be a bigger badass than he turned out to be. His "minions" made up for what he lacked!

Just read Jeaniene Frosts latest, Twice Tempted and I think that people of Fifty Shades would like it. For a second, I thought she was through with Vlad and I was like "yay!" but then I was sad again. He is such a tool. But I like her writing. Feeling conflicted.

This weekend was a serial killer type of weekend. I read several Shiloh Walker books that I rather enjoyed. I also read one of Lora Leighs books which was not a paranormal Secret Sins (The Callahans, #3) by Lora Leigh and while it wasn't as great as her breed series, I still liked it so yay!

message 198: by Peaches (new)

Peaches (princesspeaches) | 94 comments I hate to say it, but I couldn't finish Hot Blooded. The first book was so promising, but I just couldn't make it through this book. That's rare for me, because I will finish even the worst book/movie. I sat through Nicholas Cage's Wicker Man for crying out loud!

I just started the newest Jennifer Estep novel, Midnight Frost (Mythos Academy, #5) by Jennifer Estep

I had to struggle to finish Hot Blooded. There were just too many mini-adventures where she could all of a sudden solve the problem with a new magic ability. Blah blah blah...

I am excited about the latest Jennifer Estep!

I am in love with the latest Ilona Andrews book. Magic Rises (Kate Daniels #6) by Ilona Andrews is fantastical! Just the right amount of humor, horror, hijinks, and heartache!
