I haven't read the book yet but when I saw Cassie has a goddess for a mother, I rolled my eyes. Well, now we know how the "lifespan problem" will be solved. Pretty convenient!

That's what I thought at first, too, but somehow it sounded too dirty for KC to play out. Then I thought about the epilogue and how Cassie touched the fey charm Pritkin gave her. My first impression was sentimentality, but what if that meant that Cassie was going to fairie? But what there could help Pritkin? Now remember that the fey and the demons have a common problem - fertility. There's also a solution for it, which is the rune Cassie stole from the Senate. If I remember correctly, Radella currently has it, but could it be that Cassie is going to retrieve it in order to bargain with Rosier..?
Would she go get Pritkin first to help her in Faerie, or go to Faerie first to release Hel.
I think Cassie is going to Faerie first, since that is where "Hel" is imprisoned. Once released doesn't Hel stay corporeal while in Faerie? She can help with the war effort from inside Faerie. Maybe we'll see Tomas again...we still don't know how he got away from the Dark Fey King.
Rika has an excellent idea. I see Cassie at the end of the next book holding the rune and saying "now to go raise Hell". Pritkin isn't in danger in Hell, just faced with the unpleasant task of "being at stud". And Rosier is probably ecstatic with Prikin's newly-gained mix of Pythia power he was able to absorb from Cassie. Pritkin is quite the bargaining chip.
I don't think we'll see much of Pritkin in the next book. Time for Mircea to show how far he will go to "help" Cassie.

Or...
Maybe Pritkin shows up in Faerie because he is to be mated to some Fey per arrangement by Rosier. Maybe a Fey in possession of the rune so the mating "takes"? And coincidentally is there at the same time Cassie is in Faerie doing whatever plan she has to release her parents.
Cassie doesn't even have to go to hell, just bargain with Rosier so Pritkin doesn't have to go back.

i think i agree with you on the pritkin and mircea part - how did you know "hel" was imprisoned in faerie, i dont recall that being said in Htm but i could of forgotten.
Hel is the other name for Artemis, who is in the same place/circumstance as Roger Palmer. That place being Tony's paperweight currently residing with him in Faerie.
That is my interpretation.

still makes me laugh when i think about it

First of all, this book was amazing, however there are some bad points in my opinion. Since Im 100% team Pritkin I was rather dissapointed at the lack of action (non sexual) him and cassie have entered into in all the other books. Instead it was cassie and mircea getting the adventures, and hello? not right at all ;/ it didnt do anything for me. I missed Pritkin under pressure, I missed his pissed off attitude toward Cassie when she wasnt doing what he wanted her to do, I missed a lot about our crazy war mage in this book. However saying that, I loved the look into his vulnerable side.
We see Pritkin grow a lot in this book, I think we also finally get to see his realisation of his feelings for cassie.. or more importantly him expressing those feelings (anybody else love the foot holding on the balcony scene before he left her?? I was glued to the page!) Although i was dissapointed at the lack of crazy war mage, the building of his character and the relationship between him and cassie made up for it.
Anybody else get a sense of dejavu when witnessing cassies mum and her mage? I was screaming in my head at cassie for not recognising that he was her father, I mean hello? but at the same time I was laughing at the crazy antics were so familiar with frim cassie and pritkin becoming evident in her mother and father.. and i loved it to no end. It gave me a sense of hope and a feeling of "fate" about her and pritkin. FYI Cassies mum kicks ass! and the goddess thing didnt bother me, I was getting rather tired of the spartoi and Loki and whatnot but the way Jonas was going on and on about it gave me a lot of laugh out loud moments.
Marco became a great character also in this book, I love the father figure he presented to cassie and he made me laugh and "aww" a lot throughout the book.
Mircea has gone down a lot in my esteems, which i dont fully understand because I loved his backstory and i like him more now that hes showed us some vulnerability, but att he same time I hate the way he treats Cassie, and that he doesnt see anything wrong init. I really wanted to slap some sense into cassie - i even thoought she was finally going to brake it off with him on the steps outside his estates before she was pulled back through time. I doubt she would have but I was certainly rooting for it >.<
In comparing Mircea and Pritkin in this book I think the sex scenes say a hell of a lot for whos going to prevail. Mircea and Cassie had some hot steamy sex during this book, and it was exciting.. however Pritkin and cassies brief encounter in the car while he was healing was phenomenol, it just blew every other sex scene out of the water, and they didnt even have sex!!! the slow descriptions and cassies acknowledgements that she'd never been so.. wow, i was sweating just reading it. I think a lot of this book shows cassies true feelings for both our boys, and it seems obvious she loves them both, but Pritkin - wow epic romances much ?
Throughout the book I was waiting for a trip to faerie, I was dissapointed Cassie didnt immediately leap to follow Pritkin when he left for faerie, she dissapointed me that after he left she barely gave him a second thought! hopefully they will enter in the next book.
My favourite scene is difficult to determine, but I think its possibly the shower scene at HQ, it was so tender I nearly cried, I loved it.. it was very subtle but worked wonders.
Im sorry about my waffle ;/ I have just finished reading the book and everythings spilling out like word vomit lol Im guessing once ive had my re-read (next week) ill have a fresh insight into everything.
I cant wait for Pritkins shorts.. >.<

In terms of smexy scenes, Cassie n mirceas 'night out of time', (foot fetish n all :D ) definitely joins their 'yee-haw' bedroom/ bathroom scene from the last book in my all time favourite smexy scenes list!

Also I really liked Caleb in this book. I just thought that his whole single-mindedness thing was really funny :)

Yeah, I love my JP :)

Now that's out of the way, I have to get this off my chest and want to know if anyone agrees with me. My head is so wrapped around "will it be Pritkin or Mircea", I can't think of anything else yet, so that's all this is about.
So, is it just me or does anyone else think that Mircea's own scenes with Cassie lead to Pritkin winning the girl? After they made love and she was thinking about how she loves Mircea, and then it went into why she loved him, it gave me the impression that she wasn't so much "in love" with Mircea as she loved him for being sort of a security blanket for her when she was a kid. She never said anything about him as a person, and went on to say that Mircea meant security and protection and those were the most important attributes to her, which would make sense because at the time she couldn't protect herself.
Then when they're talking outside of his estate, she's thinking that all he'll ever see of her is the eleven year little girl cowering in her room and that she's not that person anymore. She's an adult, with a lot of power, and a job to do. She's also learning to protect herself and gets mad when people try to shield her from things.
That makes me think that one of them, possibly Mircea, is going to come to the realization that while they do love each other, they aren't in love with each other. By her own admission she's a big girl now and the very reasons she gives for loving Mircea are the root of all the problems they have with each other.
Anyone else thinking something like that?

Also, on a different note, I really think that Cassie and Mircea's relationship will soon hit a speedbump. Even though I'm a die-hard JP fan and Cassie did what she did to save his life, she did technically cheat on Mircea. The quasi-sex she had with Pritkin was a LOT more tender and loving than anything that happened between them before. (the way he held her afterwards? I wanted to melt) Also, Cassie said herself that she CAN'T tell Mircea what happened w/out giving after what John is. And considering how Mircea says she doesn't trust him (jealous much??), I don't think that would end well.
Mircea keeps a lot from Cassie. He hasn't even told her about his daughter yet. I haven't read the Dorina books, but I'm assuming the brunette that was in his photo album that Cassie found was Dory?

I too am on team Pritkin and even though I have seen the photos she has on her website I prefer him as Philip Winchester, who is currently staring in STARZ Camelot as Leontes.
**SPOILER ALERT***
While I enjoy reading some (ok, all) of the Mircea/Cassie smexy scenes, it kinds creeps me out because he sill sees her as the same kid she was when they met at Tony's, or at least that's how I read that scene. I agree with Jessica in that I think she sees Mircea as a "safety blanket", a sexy one, but still. Also, I'd like to ask Pops (Mircea) to "get over himself" and realize our girl is the Pythia, maybe not a well trained one but nonetheless, still the one and only Pythia and daughter of Artemis. He could seriously cool his overbearing/overprotective tendencies and if he does in the next book, who knows, maybe their relationship could take on some semblance of a more mature romance.
Oddly enough, even though JP (aka Merlin) is at least as old as Mircea, since JP and Cassie don't have that history, their smexy scenes don't seem like something is missing. Well, except maybe the actual smex without Cassie becoming all "dust in the wind" ala the former Mrs. Pritkin.
Maybe i'm just too pro-Pritkin.
Did anyone else think it was odd that she wasn't more torn up about how her backseat action with JP would affect her relationship with Mircea? I don't read her as a shallow character that wouldn't be broken up over cheating on someone she was in love with, regardless of what lead her to do it (ie JP could have died from his dragon venom wounds). Which lends credence to the idea that she loves Mircea, she just isn't in love with him and there is a HUGE difference.
Anyone know how long we'll have to wait until the next one comes out? This is always the worst part!!!!! I love finding an already completed series and ravishing it. What to read, what to read....

And yes, I did notice that Cassie wasn't too torn up about what happened between her and JP. She's finally starting to realize her true feelings for him (God I hope so). I'm 100% on team JP, so maybe I'm biased, but I think she's starting to see the holes in their relationship. JP is just an all-around catch; she'd be an idiot to deny that.

This is obviously just my opinion, but I think the most important part of "after the car" was that she was feeling guilty at all. She went around and around it trying to figure out why she felt guilty this time, when she hadn't before. She worked out that it wasn't because she enjoyed it, or because her and Mircea were dating and says that it being a life or death situation a vampire would probably be pragmatic about it. So, I think that she felt guilty about it this time because even if she hasn't figured it out yet, part of her knows that she's falling a little in love with Pritkin. So, while she didn't feel like she was betraying Mircea when it was just a little bit of life saving nookie, her growing feelings for Pritkin make it feel like an emotional betrayal. Hehe, at least I hope so!

One thing that made me giggle and cringe at the same time was when she was teasing John about it not being that great. Um, yeah it was (do you really call out someone's name during sex (ish) if you aren't enjoying yourself? Probably not) But JP laughing his butt off made me smile. Poor guy probably needed a laugh.

did anyone else sit there and go Awwwwwwwwww while they where reading that part?? i swear i had tears :)

lol i totally agree with JP being a catch!! WOOO go team pritkin!! haha
i didnt know which pictures of Philip you thought best represented pritkin but i got a few different ones so other people can check him out with out having to go searching for him.

if he works on his body a bit more i think he would make a fab pritkin ;)
just for you girls who decided to search Philip Winchester on google there's a pic there with him running around in his underwear ;) haha

when she asked marco if it was more than 20 i was like omg are you retarded mircea is like a sex god according to her and has been around for ever of course theres been more girls than that!!
i dont blame her though, i would have a problem being with a man like mircea as well.
how funny was the scene when she came darting out of the bathroom naked, when she went back in the past with mircea, lol classic

im not sure if i could see mircea cheating on cassie but i just cant picture them lasting. also he would pretend to date someone who looks just like her if he thought it would keep cassie safe including kissing the "fake" cassie just to fool people, while pritkin would just keep her safe.
Who is the Morrigan's husband? Is it the Dark Fey King?
I am not sure but I was left with the impression that he is her kidnapped husband.

That's what I got from that too. I was wondering too what bygones she was offering to let be at the end, considering she was the one that was trying to kill Cassie. At first I thought maybe for them having the nerve to capture her, but full of yourself much? So if she's the Dark Fey King's wife maybe she was talking about the deal Cassie had with him? Maybe I missed something, that bit was a little confusing.

Maybe it's my devious mind but I can't help think back about the Power war for demons. Pritkin explained it that getting more power and making babies is a favorite pass time of demons. He also made it clear that he avoided at all cost doing his father's bidding. I don't see him being a stud even where he is now. I found interesting that Rosier helped Cassie and actually told that he did not see why Pritkin liked her.
If I were a scheming father and noticing that my son had a simple 'crush' toward a certain child of the goddess of death (he must read the newspaper as much as anyone) and that maybe pretty babies could result out of such an association...I would be incline to 'lend' help to keep the ouroboros spell going. He has no interest in the old gods returning....and prestige to gain for his court. Pritkin could be his bargaining chip too. Is there any proof that a rune would work on demons?

You make me laugh. Let's hear it for rough and tough vampires!!!

OMG! LOL! I literally did a spit take with my coffee when I read this! Ahahahaha! So worth the mess!

I loved all the Pritkin scenes as well. He was very complementary and tender with her in this book. I really liked it when he laughed too!
I don't really care for cliffhangers unless I already have the next book. I know, I like instant gratification.
I cannot really tell where KC is heading with who she will pick only that eventually she will have to do that.
Loved Marco and his role as a guardian/bodyguard. All the myth stuff kinda is noise to me in the books but it makes things interesting.

Hmmm...interesting point. So maybe Rosier will encourage Pritkin to mate with Cassie, and Cassie will agree if Rosier releases Pritkin from servitude in his father's court, all so that a magical child might result and they would all be part of Rosier's clan.
So Cassie is "married" to Mircea in accordance with vampire law while she would be mated to Pritkin in accordance with demon law. And preggers. How awkward.

He said that it was rare, but stressed how fertile humans are, and since they're both half human that could make it more likely. And let's face it, just the fact that it is supposed to be unlikely to happen should mean that it would definitely happen to Cassie.

I agree completely!
Mircea did nothing for me in this book. I don't care what his history is and what his reasons are, he needs to stop treating her like a doll that's going to break. I really wanted them to have Kate-Curran style heart to heart about trusting each other and talking things out and the dominance issues in their relationship, but I felt like he dropped the ball. And she let him, she rolls over way to easily. Pritkin on the other hand... Mmmmmmm. Yummy. That scene in the car was AMAZING. And I think the fact that his parole has been revoked is a good thing, because now once he comes back (however they work that out) he'll be able to have sex!
The Artmis twist was interesting but from the second 'Liz' ran off with the 'kidnapper' is was so bloody obvious who he was that I was getting really annoyed with Cassie for being so stupid. I mean at least not realizing earlier that he didn't kidnap her, even if she didn't know it was her Dad.
