I haven't read the book yet but I looooooooooove spoilers so post away. I need to know everything! Especially about Mircea! Ah hell, Pritkin too! :-)
What are your thoughts about the book???
What are your thoughts about the book???

in the end i have faith pritkin will win her over!!
Wow, Norse mythology is so interesting. It's cool that she added that to the story.
And hot moments with Mircea and Pritkin! Woo hoo!
And hot moments with Mircea and Pritkin! Woo hoo!

and how was her reaction to her dad - classic!! lol

pritkin trys to give cassie what she wants and needs while keeping her safe.
in this book though mircea is prob the nicest he's ever been in all the books and the sweetest, but pritkin still wins in my opinion ;)
YAY go team Pritkin!!
lol

i wont tell you what he says cause its to sweet to ruin, but i was like Awwwwwwwwwww
:)
OMG! I cannot wait! I need more Mircea! I can't wait any longer! Ahhhhh!
And Pritkin is awesome too!
Do you think Cassie and Dory will meet soon? Any hints about that?

I love what Mircea says almost at the end, but I can't help but think that she won't be with him. He is just portrayed as a horny master vampire with whom she will have sex with whenever Cassie's going to be meeting with him and just get details about his background here and there. *sigh*~ I did enjoy the scenes though xD
Pritkin's progressing to Cassie's ideal type.
The action scenes confused me so I just stopped imagining them (except the dragon heh).
I can't wait to see the Pythian Court and how the Coronation will be executed.
I can't wait to see Hel and who will come to help her (if someone will at all).
AND I hope that Dory will be in the next book.

i thought the action scenes where alot less confusing in HtM compared to her other books in this series!!
is dory the person mircea had all those pictures of?? cause i thought they where of his sister - but yet again i havent read the midnight duaghter series yet
and i cant remember reading about a dory in the cassie series!!
man mircea is keeping so many secrets from cassie!!

i thought the action scenes where alot less confusi..."
Mircea doesn't have a sister. I don't remember reading anything mentioning him having a sister.
Most of the people (including me) are pretty sure it's Dory's. Since Mircea did keep a tab on her, from whenever the camera was invented to the contemporary times.
Yeah. Dory doesn't get mentioned in the Cassie series (at least that's how I remember it) but Pythia does get mentioned on Dory's. You better read the Dory's series. It might clarify one scene in Curse the Dawn, I think. Dory's series also showed how f-ing busy Mircea is! No wonder he is not around so much! His job is to protect his family, the Senate, and pretty much the whole entire U.S human population from vampires! Pritkin's got only one job to do: keeping Cassie from death (keeping her from danger and hurting is just plain impossible) :P

i have no idea how i came to the conclusion of her being his sister, lol i know it came from reading the cassie series, so i must of got them mixed up!!
still... pritkin is better :P

Dory's series is blood-thirsty. I love it. : )

Yay go team PRITKIN,lol
i totally agree with what your saying, i never feel like mircea is being 100% honest and even if he is i always feel like theres a reason behind it, he always has motives - drives me nuts.
while i feel pritkin isnt always honest he's alot more then mircea, and he also dosnt play a role in the vampire politics (the senate-think i spelled that incorrect)he just seems more trust worthy - i trust cassie with him alot more and i think he trys harder to keep cassie alive then mircea does

I have not read HTM but from comments it seems that KC is leaning toward Pritkin.

Actually I had quite the opposite impression from the book. And here are few reasons why: 1) Cassie didn't thought much about the "emergency" they had with Pritkin in CtD, 2) there's just no way Cassie can resist Mircea, 3) Mircea confessed his feelings and 4) how complicated Pritkin's sex life can get?
There where pretty sizzling moments between Cassie & Pritkin, there's no denying that, but I don't think the scales have turned to favor team Pritkin (at least not yet).
There were answers to several questions that fans had asked Karen on her now-defunct forum:
What happened to Pritkin's wife Ruth is explained. In my opinion he is dumb for continuing to take full blame for what happened when it was clearly not all his fault.
We learn why Pritkin was kicked out of Hell. The details of demon sex reminded me (vaguely) of how witches have sex in the Rachel Morgan world.
We learn what kind of music Pritkin likes and why. (Heh!)
We get a description of Mircea's court in Washington.
We get a description of Cassie's coronation dress.
We get a description of Marco's background (no, he is not Marco Polo)
We learn who Cassie's parents are, and the effort to retrieve her father's soul will clearly be a major plot line in the next book.
There are a few things that made me think the short "Shadowland" had already happened...Pritkin says that he is positive Rosier won't come after Cassie again, which I think could be a result of bargaining after Pritkin rescued his father as seemed what was about to happen before Karen pulled the short. Also, Cassie clearly knows what a time loop is when it happens in HtM. She learned that in Shadowland.
We learned what kind of beer Pritkin drinks and that he once had a substance abuse problem.
We learned why Pritkin has not had sex since his wife died.
What was notable is that there is no mention of Pritkin's dick, pretty or otherwise; and he is not naked except in the second chapter and later in the book at HQ in the shower.
We got a eastern european history lesson with the description of Mircea's past.
Things I wonder about:
Will the claw scars on Pritkin's back still be there after his gruesome injury and subsequent healing?
Will Pritkin have been changed into something different with more power after having what passes for demon sex with Cassie? That is a possible and usually intended outcome of that act.

So from the rest of you who have read HtM...
1) What is your favorite scene, revelation, quote, tidbit?
2) Did HtM change your mind about anyone?
3) What did you really really want to know that was NOT disclosed in HtM?
1) What is your favorite scene, revelation, quote, tidbit?

My answers:
Favorite scene - in the shower at HQ and just after, when Pritkin tells Cassie what happened to his wife, and the fallout from that event that still rules his actions in the present.
Favorite revelation - demon sex
Favorite quote: "Kiss me." "Like you mean it."
Creepiest quote: "Let Daddy help."
Favorite tidbit: Marco telling Pritkin to bring beer, since they are running low and he is coming over to the suite...and Pritkin brings beer.
Did HtM change my mind about anyone? Yes - Pritkin demonstrated a capacity for kindness/tenderness in HtM, and he has much more iron control than we were ever told. He has fought extreme temptation for many many years and is still sane. Mostly. I can forgive him his crankiness and lack of smiling, although he did laugh loudly in HQ...first time we have seen that.
What did I really really want to know that was not in HtM - what abilities does Pritkin have due to his Fey blood, and how did he get the claw scars on his shoulder? What is Mircea's real agenda? Will Cassie ever have a nice, calm, non-disasterous event while still wearing her clean and intact clothing?

Most characters blame themselves for eons for the stupidest stuff. Pritkin blaming himself for his wife's death is no surprise to me. Neither is the substance abuse problem, lol. Anyone with hair like that has some serious issues.
I think we're going to see a whole 'nother side of him in his own world. Even the description of him at the end of HtM was so not-Pritkin. My guess is that Mircea won't be able to travel where they're going, so I don't think we're going to see much of him until Cassie has to tackle faerie again.

yea i kinda agree but i think mircea will do something that cassie dosnt like and she'll dump him - either he'll do something for the senate or he'll try and order cassie to leave pritkin in hell or something
and i think the next book pritkin and cassie will get alot closer, also if they defeat pritkins dad he should be able to have a somewhat normal sex life after that with out getting sucked back into hell.

lmao i totally agree - when they go into so much detail about someone's "bits" in so many books it tends to drive you crazy after awhile.

i loved how marco and cassie got closer in HtM, he was super sweeet when she was upset!!
i loved how pritkin keep his feelings about cassie to himself - so when you see pritkin show a little bit its extra awesome!!
like at th end of the book when cassie is like haveing a mud bath (lol) and when she patched him up, when he came back from fairy - he was looking at her funny
also it was super sweet when mircea told cassie how he felt, i might be a pritkin fan, but no one can ignore mircea :)
also i believe mircea knows pritkin and cassie were together... did anyone else get that idea??
when cassie wanted to get out of the suit and pritkin picked her up in a car via "lay line" he took her to a little crappy pizza place - they got into a conversation and they were clearly talking about to diff things, lol

Did HtM change your mind about anyone?
I definitely changed my mind about Cassie's parents, though I think I liked the darker past better. Having a goddess for a mother is a bit over the top and it's such a cliche to have a heritage that makes the heroine somehow special.
What did you really really want to know that was NOT disclosed in HtM?
Marsden told that there is a third child of Loki, the wolf Fenrir. He was shackled by Odin, but eventually escaped and killed him. Marsden adds, that he doesn't believe they are there yet. To me, it sounds a lot like the situation where Pritkin is and therefore could point out what they will be dealing with in the 6th Cassandra Palmer book. What do you think?
@Ashleigh's question: the other thing that made me curious was that it seemed like Mircea was reading Cassie's thoughts at times. Maybe that's why he knew something was/is going on between Pritkin & Cassie...?

When she was patching him up, I think Pritkin was getting a little excited. I love the way she described his physical reaction so you could SEE how hard it was for him to restrain himself.

Do you remember roughly on what page they discussed the mythology? I want to re-read it and do a post on it for my next column. I can flip through the pages, but it would save me time if you remembered, lol. If not, no worries.

Sometimes I have to read the end first so I can go back and enjoy reading the whole book!
I have never been overly fond of the Cassie-Mircea thing. I think she would be much better off with Pritkin and I liked Tomas better also. :-)
I definitely think she should be meeting Dory, I think they would have some good things to tell each other, drive Mircea even more crazy. The picture album was of Dory, that was rather obvious if you knew about Dory. :-)

yea mircea was deff reading her thoughts - he answered her questions when she didnt even ask them out loud. i cant believe she didnt figure that out
pritkin also seems to know that mircea knows - i wonder what happened between mircea and pritkin??

Yeah, the goddess for a mother made me groan...typical urban fantasy. However, I'm not sure what Cassie got from her mother, since she had been losing power for 3000 years and was "near the end, which was the only reason she was at the Pythian court". I think Cassie's power comes mostly from Apollo.
I think it was good that Cassie saw how expertly Elizabeth used the power...how smooth her shift is, for example. Cassie learned a lot.

I think the "claim" bond that Mircea has with Cassie allows him to know her thoughts, although if thats the case then why hasn't Mircea killed Pritkin yet?
Perhaps Mircea is willing to let him alone for the time being, since Pritkin is clearly a major reason why Cassie is still alive.

I shudder to think how Cassie is going to retrieve Pritkin...probably try to bargain, which she isn't very good at. What does she have to bargain with? I immediately thought Cassie would offer to have demon sex with Rosier, since that would allow Rosier to gain power from the Pythia. Would she do that? What do you all think?
My answer: Pritkin is better off finding his own way out without Cassie's help. But will Cassie figure that out?

Another thought...
Since Cassie has a goddess for a mother, does that mean her lifespan is longer than a human's? If thats the case, then Cassie can be with Mircea or Pritkin during their longer lifespans. That was my peeve about the whole Mircea-or-Pritkin debate. I want Cassie to be with someone she can be with for a shared life (including growing old together), not just a snippet of someone else's.

This way we-who-are-jumping-up-and-down/frothing-at-the-mouth can still express our franticness in the other HtM thread, without being bothered by the Spoilers. There, you're warned. :D
