Yeah And when both she and i first got our phones (i'm 2 years older than her- i got mine in 7th grade) we had restricted use- mine was lifted in a couple of months since my best friend moved out of the state. I also got an email about that same time- just to keep in touch with her.

I'm going to be a Junior in Highschool, and I still don't have a phone. :D I kind of don't want one though.
^^^This. Also, I just have no need for a phone really. If I were to get some fancy technology it would either be an ipod or a netbook. An ipod cause I love music and a netbook because it would be so handy for writing.
I like having a phone to talk to my friends :) also when I go places with them it makes my parents feel like I'll be more safe.
Yeah, I'd like an iPod too. Not so much a netbook since my mom has one and on the occasions that I've used it I didn't like having to adjust to the smaller size. And I could live without a phone- and really TV and internet, but they're nice to have- I do without them during camp and obviously I survive.
Frank B wrote: "I'm going to be a Junior in Highschool, and I still don't have a phone. :D I kind of don't want one though."I didn't want one either. My parents got me one when I started having practice after school and would need to call to get picked up. While it's nice to not have to borrow from other people, and it's useful to stay in touch with people, I still don't find it necessary. If I lost my phone (which I thought I did once) it would probably take a day for me to realize, and then I would be really worried, but because I lost something valuable, not because I didn't have my phone. If you just took it away and I knew where it was, I couldn't care less.
I got my phone of Christmas 6th grade, but I have restrictions. Turns on at 7-8, 4-10, but during weekends/breaks/summer, I have it 8-11.
That's interesting. My parents trust me not to use it when I shouldn't, I guess. Until this year, it literally lived in my backpack, turned off except for the one time a day that I called to be picked up. Then my softball coach started using it to tell us stuff, so I had to start checking it more often. I still don't use it very much though.
Yeah, I understand that. You can't control what other people do. My brother and sister had a different texting problem, because they had limited texts and people kept texting them, but by the time I got my phone it was cheaper to get unlimited texting for everyone than to keep having them go over.
There's no service at my house except for occasionally in the dead of summer or winter (go figure!) so my parents never needed to put time limits on my phone. A lot of my friends have them though.
I've never had time restrictions other than don't use it when you know you aren't supposed to. Like during school or church or a meeting.
I'm so tired that I don't know what you're talking about, Halley. please excuse me while i go pass out......*falls on bed*
*thanks Kate and Way*Now if only I had fallen asleep that quickly once I actually reached my bed (my computer's downstairs and my room's upstairs). But no, i lay there for several minutes after taking my medicine (cause I've been sick-ish for the past 2 weeks.--mainly just a cold).
Not being able to sleep and being sick are the two worst things ever :( I couldn't sleep last night (or more aptly, morning) either.
Agreed. Mine are actual restrictions. I can still receive texts/calls from my mom, dad, home, and sister, but nobody else.
Unlike my sister, I like it. That way, (my phone randomly turns on and off whenever it feels like it) if someone texts/calls me during school or when I'm sleeping... I won't get it until I the time restriction is over.
Some one at my school had restrictions, but if she was texted during those times she doesn't get them at all.Anna and Kate- it sucked. i'm better than I was but last night i was so exhausted that i plopped down in a chair in the living room then looked at the time and told my younger sister that I knew I should go up to my bed, but that would require moving. So I fell asleep in the chair. It was quite comfortable.
My friend at camp went home one weekend because she had hurt her knee, and when she came back, she was on Vicodin, which made her nauseous, so my roommate and I stayed up with her. The least nauseous she felt was when she was sitting up, so she sat cross-legged on the wood floor until about 2 in the morning when her eyes drifted closed and she toppled over. Luckily we saw it coming and put couch cushions around her, so she didn't hurt herself but she woke up on contact. She fell asleep about a half hour later, while my roommate and I each took half of a two person couch without the back cushions and fell asleep around 3, before I woke up at 6:30 to go running. It was wonderful.Anyway, I hope you're feeling better.
Kate wrote: "My friend at camp went home one weekend because she had hurt her knee, and when she came back, she was on Vicodin, which made her nauseous, so my roommate and I stayed up with her. The least nauseo..."That was awful :( It wasn't me btw, but it was awful for her.
Rae, I'm glad that you're getting better and I hope that you won't randomly fall asleep in any more chairs! :)
Yeah, Anna, it was awful. But it made for an entertaining story!I like the idea of feeling better day, Halley.
Happy feeling better day to you!
Happy feeling better day to you!
Happy feeling better day dear Raaee!
Happy feeling better day tooo yoooouuuuu!
Kate and Anna, your posts totally just made my day. You guys along with Halley, Nat, and Way. ^_^Anna- it wasn't really random, but I think I actually slept better in the chair than in my bed, which is weird.
Well, if it works....Are you back to sleeping in beds now? What about feeling better; did my singing work? (and I tried really hard so that it wouldn't break your eardrums)
Hahhaa, I AM back t osleeping in beds now, but I honestly thin ki might've slept better last night if I had been in the chair again. And your singing DID work. It was beautiful. ^_^
Glad to!So.. going back on topic since we've been having problems lately... ^_^
Melinda, I would LOVE to go to Italy. If I could go anywhere, that's it.
I'd just travel all over Italy. My older sister's been to Italy, Austria (twice) and the Czech Republic. I'm going to Austria and Germany come June and I'm SO excited!
Thanks for getting us back on topic. I was going to try but had no idea what to say.Italy's pretty cool. I should get the chance to go this February, or two Februaries from now, for a little under a week, with my Latin class. It would be mostly Rome (I think) with side trips to Herculaneum and such.
Cool! I could technically go to spain or another spanish speaking country (i'm not sure what was decided) with my Spanish class next summer, but I'm going out of country around that time anyways- and 2 trips, even if they didn't coincide is really just too much.
When you go off topic, please please please take it to "General Chat".
But Italy is amazing. Ive been to Rome and Venice (and took the train through the Tuscany outskirts, which was BEAUTIFUL). I preferred Venice, but Rome was definitely nice. Vatican City is beyond words magnificent. So is the Colleseum and all the ruins.
But I cant get over Venice, all the tiny lanes and canals and carnivale shops...Rialto Bridge...San Marco's Square. The city itself is an attraction. Not to mention surrounding islands like Murano and Burano :)
I kid you not, one of the greatest days of my entire life was spent in Venice:
-walking around Burano in the morning
-Coming back and seeing San Marco's Square flooded
-Gondola Ride
-Just walking around the city
I walked through San Marco's square is it was flooded. There were only a couple of us in the water (A few inches my ankles), everyone else was on the boardwalk. I felt like I was the only person in the world. Unbelievable feeling :)

I was going to go to Japan this summer, but then the earthquake happened. That's amazing, I'm so jealous! I want to go to Florence, Rome, and Venice WHEN I go to Italy! :)
I really really want to go to Italy, but my family doesn't really want to :( I am headed out to Northern California today, which I'm super psyched for!
Jess- that's amazing. I kinda hope that on our downtime during my choir trip we'll be able to just walk around and take in everything.
But I think Nat lives in SoCal.Yeah, probably. I think the biggest city we're going to is Munich (where we're flying to). They're all small cities/towns.
