Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah And when both she and i first got our phones (i'm 2 years older than her- i got mine in 7th grade) we had restricted use- mine was lifted in a couple of months since my best friend moved out of the state. I also got an email about that same time- just to keep in touch with her.

message 302: by Frank (new)

Frank I'm going to be a Junior in Highschool, and I still don't have a phone. :D I kind of don't want one though.

message 303: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid ^^^This.

Also, I just have no need for a phone really. If I were to get some fancy technology it would either be an ipod or a netbook. An ipod cause I love music and a netbook because it would be so handy for writing.

message 304: by Mayze (new)

Mayze I like having a phone to talk to my friends :) also when I go places with them it makes my parents feel like I'll be more safe.

message 305: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah, I'd like an iPod too. Not so much a netbook since my mom has one and on the occasions that I've used it I didn't like having to adjust to the smaller size. And I could live without a phone- and really TV and internet, but they're nice to have- I do without them during camp and obviously I survive.

Kate | 8205 comments Frank B wrote: "I'm going to be a Junior in Highschool, and I still don't have a phone. :D I kind of don't want one though."

I didn't want one either. My parents got me one when I started having practice after school and would need to call to get picked up. While it's nice to not have to borrow from other people, and it's useful to stay in touch with people, I still don't find it necessary. If I lost my phone (which I thought I did once) it would probably take a day for me to realize, and then I would be really worried, but because I lost something valuable, not because I didn't have my phone. If you just took it away and I knew where it was, I couldn't care less.

message 307: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments I got my phone of Christmas 6th grade, but I have restrictions. Turns on at 7-8, 4-10, but during weekends/breaks/summer, I have it 8-11.

message 308: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments That's interesting. My parents trust me not to use it when I shouldn't, I guess. Until this year, it literally lived in my backpack, turned off except for the one time a day that I called to be picked up. Then my softball coach started using it to tell us stuff, so I had to start checking it more often. I still don't use it very much though.

message 309: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments They trust me too, they don't trust people to not text me.

message 310: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Yeah, I understand that. You can't control what other people do. My brother and sister had a different texting problem, because they had limited texts and people kept texting them, but by the time I got my phone it was cheaper to get unlimited texting for everyone than to keep having them go over.

message 311: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Yeah, that sounds like my sister, although she was a texting maniac. I don't text *too* much.

message 312: by Mayze (new)

Mayze There's no service at my house except for occasionally in the dead of summer or winter (go figure!) so my parents never needed to put time limits on my phone. A lot of my friends have them though.

message 313: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I'd never actually heard of time limits before, but it makes sense.

message 314: by Mayze (new)

Mayze It's more of a rule, not an actual restriction on the phone (as far as I know)

message 315: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Oh, got it.

message 316: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments I've never had time restrictions other than don't use it when you know you aren't supposed to. Like during school or church or a meeting.

message 317: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments I'm so tired that I don't know what you're talking about, Halley. please excuse me while i go pass out......*falls on bed*

message 318: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Poor, Rae-Rae. *Pats the fallen Rae on the head*
Have a nice sleep.

message 319: by Kate (last edited Aug 01, 2011 12:43AM) (new)

Kate | 8205 comments *tucks Rae in*

Sweet dreams.

message 320: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments *thanks Kate and Way*

Now if only I had fallen asleep that quickly once I actually reached my bed (my computer's downstairs and my room's upstairs). But no, i lay there for several minutes after taking my medicine (cause I've been sick-ish for the past 2 weeks.--mainly just a cold).

message 321: by Kate (last edited Aug 01, 2011 01:01PM) (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Oh, feel better.

I hate when you can't fall asleep.

message 322: by Mayze (new)

Mayze Not being able to sleep and being sick are the two worst things ever :( I couldn't sleep last night (or more aptly, morning) either.

message 323: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Agreed. Mine are actual restrictions. I can still receive texts/calls from my mom, dad, home, and sister, but nobody else.

message 324: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments That's interesting. It makes sense, though.

message 325: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Unlike my sister, I like it. That way, (my phone randomly turns on and off whenever it feels like it) if someone texts/calls me during school or when I'm sleeping... I won't get it until I the time restriction is over.

message 326: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Some one at my school had restrictions, but if she was texted during those times she doesn't get them at all.

Anna and Kate- it sucked. i'm better than I was but last night i was so exhausted that i plopped down in a chair in the living room then looked at the time and told my younger sister that I knew I should go up to my bed, but that would require moving. So I fell asleep in the chair. It was quite comfortable.

message 327: by Kate (last edited Aug 02, 2011 06:48AM) (new)

Kate | 8205 comments My friend at camp went home one weekend because she had hurt her knee, and when she came back, she was on Vicodin, which made her nauseous, so my roommate and I stayed up with her. The least nauseous she felt was when she was sitting up, so she sat cross-legged on the wood floor until about 2 in the morning when her eyes drifted closed and she toppled over. Luckily we saw it coming and put couch cushions around her, so she didn't hurt herself but she woke up on contact. She fell asleep about a half hour later, while my roommate and I each took half of a two person couch without the back cushions and fell asleep around 3, before I woke up at 6:30 to go running. It was wonderful.

Anyway, I hope you're feeling better.

message 328: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Hahaha, that sounds like a great time! lolz.

And yeah, I am feeling a bit better.

message 329: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments It was so much fun.

Yay! Now it's time to feel a lot better.

message 330: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments I bet. :)

Hahaha, I can't feel better on command. ^_^ It just doesn't work that way.

message 331: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Rae, I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. I hope you feel all better soon!.

message 332: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments That sounds very wonderful indeed. :)

Yay for feeling a bit better! Hope you get all better soon!

message 333: by Mayze (last edited Aug 02, 2011 02:44PM) (new)

Mayze Kate wrote: "My friend at camp went home one weekend because she had hurt her knee, and when she came back, she was on Vicodin, which made her nauseous, so my roommate and I stayed up with her. The least nauseo..."

That was awful :( It wasn't me btw, but it was awful for her.

Rae, I'm glad that you're getting better and I hope that you won't randomly fall asleep in any more chairs! :)

message 334: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Yeah, Anna, it was awful. But it made for an entertaining story!

I like the idea of feeling better day, Halley.

Happy feeling better day to you!
Happy feeling better day to you!
Happy feeling better day dear Raaee!
Happy feeling better day tooo yoooouuuuu!

message 335: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Kate and Anna, your posts totally just made my day. You guys along with Halley, Nat, and Way. ^_^

Anna- it wasn't really random, but I think I actually slept better in the chair than in my bed, which is weird.

message 336: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Well, if it works....

Are you back to sleeping in beds now? What about feeling better; did my singing work? (and I tried really hard so that it wouldn't break your eardrums)

message 337: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Hahhaa, I AM back t osleeping in beds now, but I honestly thin ki might've slept better last night if I had been in the chair again.

And your singing DID work. It was beautiful. ^_^

message 338: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Glad to!

So.. going back on topic since we've been having problems lately... ^_^

Melinda, I would LOVE to go to Italy. If I could go anywhere, that's it.

message 339: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid I'd like to visit Venice, if I went to Italy that is where I would go. Venice.

message 340: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments I'd just travel all over Italy. My older sister's been to Italy, Austria (twice) and the Czech Republic. I'm going to Austria and Germany come June and I'm SO excited!

message 341: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Thanks for getting us back on topic. I was going to try but had no idea what to say.

Italy's pretty cool. I should get the chance to go this February, or two Februaries from now, for a little under a week, with my Latin class. It would be mostly Rome (I think) with side trips to Herculaneum and such.

message 342: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Cool! I could technically go to spain or another spanish speaking country (i'm not sure what was decided) with my Spanish class next summer, but I'm going out of country around that time anyways- and 2 trips, even if they didn't coincide is really just too much.

message 343: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Wow. Everyone has so many opportunities to go places!

When you go off topic, please please please take it to "General Chat".

But Italy is amazing. Ive been to Rome and Venice (and took the train through the Tuscany outskirts, which was BEAUTIFUL). I preferred Venice, but Rome was definitely nice. Vatican City is beyond words magnificent. So is the Colleseum and all the ruins.
But I cant get over Venice, all the tiny lanes and canals and carnivale shops...Rialto Bridge...San Marco's Square. The city itself is an attraction. Not to mention surrounding islands like Murano and Burano :)
I kid you not, one of the greatest days of my entire life was spent in Venice:
-walking around Burano in the morning
-Coming back and seeing San Marco's Square flooded
-Gondola Ride
-Just walking around the city

I walked through San Marco's square is it was flooded. There were only a couple of us in the water (A few inches my ankles), everyone else was on the boardwalk. I felt like I was the only person in the world. Unbelievable feeling :)

message 345: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments I was going to go to Japan this summer, but then the earthquake happened.

That's amazing, I'm so jealous! I want to go to Florence, Rome, and Venice WHEN I go to Italy! :)

message 346: by Mayze (new)

Mayze I really really want to go to Italy, but my family doesn't really want to :( I am headed out to Northern California today, which I'm super psyched for!

message 347: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Jess- that's amazing. I kinda hope that on our downtime during my choir trip we'll be able to just walk around and take in everything.

message 348: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Have fun in California! (Maybe you should visit Natalie)

I bet you'll have that chance Rae.

message 349: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments But I think Nat lives in SoCal.

Yeah, probably. I think the biggest city we're going to is Munich (where we're flying to). They're all small cities/towns.

message 350: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I think so too. I just figured, you know, it's the same state.

Sometimes smaller areas are more fun to explore, though. You don't have to worry about getting lost as much. (of course I don't particularly like big cities, so that could have some sort of influence on my opinion here, but still)
