What do you guys think of Marked so far?
Marked (House of Night, #1) by P.C. Cast
I am definitely interested in seeing how P.C. Cast combines her ideas with her daughter's. I have no clue about the series only that it has vampires in it, but I'll get right on it. I actually went to Barnes and Noble today and got it. Normally I go in the middle of the month, but now I can start it right away.

What do you guys think about the first book in the series?

i absolutely loved Marked! i thought that it was a great start to what was going to be an epic series. i'm seven books into the series, and i have to say that most of the books are really good, but sadly they start to get a little worse. i still really enjoy the series though

Coady | 1 comments I have read marked and thought it was great however as i read throught the series it got worse and worse and i have not managed to bring myself to read the last two. There was always a bad guy and it always ended in a battle with zoe winning.
Overall the series was quite good but can get a bit boring.

Malena I really enjoyed Marked, and I'm currently reading the fifth book. I partially agree with Coady. The series does get a bit boring after a few books because the plot is very consistent, but its still a good way to spend an afternoon if you're bored. I gave Marked 5 stars.

Well, now I have only read the first book. I will definitely read the second one. I hope its not worse than Marked.

I'm so stupid. For like a month now I kept getting P.C. Cast confused with L.J. Smith, and for some reason, it only clicked in my head this morning that they were two different people. I think it's so weird that I thought that for so long.

Haha! I'm glad that I'm not the only one that used to get them confused. I used to get them confused all of the time :)

The Reading Devil (thereadingdevil) i really iked Marked!! i've read the whole series so far and i think it just keeps getting better :D

I like the series too. One thing that I really like about it is that the authors try to make their own kind of vampire (or vampyre), and also how the characters in the book always show how different they are from the stereotypical vampires with fangs and stuff.

Annie I liked marked ok. I agree with what a lot of you said about the later books not being as good. But even as I type this I know I will end of reading Awaken because I want to see what happens. I will say that burned was a lot better than Tempted. I almost gave up on the series when I read that one but I decided to power through. Hopefully there will be some kind of ending soon.

Andrea (crazyniko) | 18 comments I love the HON series because it has hot guys, and vampires. But it is also a little slow the series but I still love it and I can't wait to read "Destined"

That easy question to answer, I recall reading an interview a few years back that answered that question. If my memory recollection is correct P. C. Cast writes the books and her daughter pretty much edits them and adds to the story line. It goes back and forth between the two but P.C. Cast has the final say.
The series is great. I would suggest as a group we start with the first book and read one monthly until the series is current.

You will like it if you like Vampire Academy series.

It is great! I hated that it ended. Yet I am glad that there will be a spin off series with some of the other characters and everyone will have cameo throughout. What book are you on?

Anna | 2 comments I liked the way it started, but I was turned off by the anti-Christian stand it took. Also, I didn't like the way it got nasty with the guy and girl in the hallway doing you-know-what.

Crystal (crystalways) | 305 comments Mod
The whole anti-Christian did start to annoy me more as the series progressed. I kept thinking/shouting to the book, "Not every single Christian is like your step-loser!"

I think the reason why this series has more sexual encounters present than other YA books is because the Casts wanted to make it more realistic and just point out that there are some (not all) teenagers that are sexually active even when turning into a vamp.

I just finished Marked today. I completely agree that it did make it more realistic. And honestly it was only that one girl. The only one that was like that was Aphrodite. I didn't feel like it was overdone. I don't feel like it's only one slut in high school lol there's a bunch. I'd say at least 25%. I dunno, but it just sucked that Aphrodite played that role.

Kimberly Hartke I enjoyed this book...but my husband just took off with it...he couldn't put it down! which i like when that happens! I've never read passed the 2nd book because he's always beaten me to it! lol

Sassy Sarah Reads | 9 comments Marked was boring compared to the other books in the series and for the longest time I thought of Zoey as a bit of a slut, but by the Betrayed I liked her more and thought that she would eventually start to grow and not date or make out with every hot guy around her.

Brandie (RoxxyReads) (roxxyreads) I really liked this book, I couldn't seem to put it down. I finished it rather quickly but it left you thinking and wanting to know more.

message 23: by Erin (new) - rated it 2 stars

Erin (erincapobianco) | 2 comments I finished the first 9 books. I have not read the last book. I liked the first half of the books, I couldnt put them down and was so into it. However, the farther I got into the series, I lost interest. I am doing the Mini-August challenge where I cant buy books, so I will pick it up again and read it.

Personally, I actually liked the first book Marked. It was interesting and a new way to become a Vampire, and the whole magik part thrown into it was cool. Zoey is the most powerful vampire in the world... yeah Zoey.

Sharlene (sharlenehuriwai) The first book really hooked me in! I'm now up to the fifth book. Thanks for introducing me to another addictive series.

Bookshelfhangover Same here first book pulled me in. Just bought the second and third

Isabella | 1 comments OMG I LOVED that book. I couldn't put it down.

Donita (xxamethyststarxx) | 29 comments I have and have read all the House of Night books. Waiting for the next book to come out in July.
