Winner: International EPPIE Award for Best Mystery is free at http://amzn.to/oA9wuF on July 14, and 15th.Hetta Coffey is a woman with a yacht, and she's not afraid to use it.
She's a globe-trotting civil engineer with swath of failed multi-national affairs in her jet stream.
Plying the San Francisco waterfront, trolling for triceps, her attention is snagged by a parade of passing yachts--especially their predominantly male skippers--and experiences a champagne-induced epiphany: If she had a boat, she could get a man.
In spite of a spectacular ignorance of all things nautical, Hetta buys her dream boat, but shadowy stalker, an inconvenient body, and Hetta's own self-destructive foibles, give a whole new meaning to the phrase "sink or swim!"

Of course, I'll be ordering these a bit at a time from the library so as they come in - I'll tackle them and probably read books from my own library in between - that's how I get into trouble having too many series going at once...or getting in the middle of a series by accident unknowingly. (hope that made sense) lol

Tin Roof Blowdown—James Lee Burke

But I keep randomly picking up physical books (even ones that I have read a dozen times!) I like the convenience of my Nook, but I cannot live without "real" books ;)
... and then, more Malazan stuff, just not yet decided if I want to read new Erikson or the Esslemont novels... since there is more to learn from Esslemont then, I guess it will be those :)))
I am reading "Wild" by Cheryl Strayed. It is a young woman's memoir of an eleven-hundred-mile solo hike on the Pacific Crest Trail. This young woman had never hiked, camped or dealt with extreme weather changes plus the wild animals that she encountered while on the trails were frightening. It is a difficult book to put down and I can't wait to see how it ends.
Wow. I don't think I can come up with ten! I'm reading The Two Towers now, and I'm hoping to locate my Claidi Journals books soon, so...Return of the King
Wolf Tower
Wolf Star
Wolf Queen
Wolf Wing
Here is my 'waiting for me to read on my coffee table TBR pile! I have ordered more form the library. I really should read these first!
Just finished reading the New York Times bestseller 'The Signal and the Noise: Why So Many Predictions Fail--but Some Don't' by Nate Silver. The book explores the factors that complicate forecasting across many fields, with a focus on the economy. The book also delves into the subtle things that can be done to make us better predictors. It's superb. I've written a full executive summary of the book here:http://newbooksinbrief.com/2012/10/15...
Cheers,
Aaron
I agree, I usually get a whole stack of books from the library and then pick one by whatever mood I am in at the time. I am reading a autobiography by Condaleeza Rice at the moment. I also have a book The Spiral Staircase which depicts the many I am reading about Bipolar Disease and other mental health issues as I will be taking this in school. I have a book waiting called The Longest Trip Home written by John Grogan, and finally I have The Help sitting here waiting to be read. So, once I am done with this autobiography it will all depend on which I pick next by my mood.
I just got City of Glass by Cassandra Clare (which I'm half way through), The Lighthouse Between Oceans by M. L. Stedman, and Haven by Kay Hooper from the library; so they will be next on my TBR list. Then in no particularily order:Grave Surprise by Charlaine Harris
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson
Forever Odd by Dean Koontz
2nd Chance by James Patterson
Fool Moon by Jim Butcher
The Coffin Dancer by Jeffrey Deaver
Queen by Alex Haley
This will be a good start anyway; maybe since I wrote them down I will actually get them read.
I just finished "Wild" by Cheryl Strayed. It is a biography about a young woman who walks the Pacific Trail without having any experience of hiking, or camping. It is an excellent book. I am about at the end of "Tell The Wolves I'm Home" by Carol Rifka Brunt. It is a story of two young girls whose uncle was gay in the 60's. So far, it has been a good read.
I just finished The City of Glass by Cassandra Clare and started on The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman.
I'm waiting on a free, in exchange for a review, copy of Drawing Blood which will be one of my next reads along with Persephone Cole and the Halloween Curse.
I really want to start A Game of Thrones but I'm nervous with all of the names and keeping everything straight. Does anyone have any advice?
