Ladyhawk | 381 comments Aaaa! What!? Off to down-load from the link given above! So... just a tease... how is it??

message 102: by Larisa (new)

Larisa | 17 comments Really haven't made up my mind yet. I like Malcom and Claire. Some of the stuff about Moray and the Evil is a little out there. Should be interesting to see how it turns out.

message 103: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk | 381 comments Thanks Larisa! I downloaded the 3 books to my PC. I have an entourage and having trouble sinking from my new Kindle PC app to the entourage. Uggh! Technology!!

message 104: by Larisa (new)

Larisa | 17 comments Your welcome. I tried to be vage. Didn't want to give anything away!

message 105: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk | 381 comments I think I just did it! Omg! Eureka! Breakthrough for me! Haha!

message 106: by Larisa (new)

Larisa | 17 comments Good for you!

Hahaha! I usually read an average of 10 books a month. IF I get done fast enough I'll start another book before the May read.

message 108: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk | 381 comments So what is the secret to reading 10 books a month? Give up sleep?? I think I can average a book a week, if I'm lucky! Maybe I am a slow reader...

message 109: by Leea (new)

Leea Yeah 10's really good Wendy! Way to go :)

message 110: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm a big YA reader, and those are never usually more then 450 pages. Most of them are around 350 pages. When you think of it that way it's not that much. Plus they tend to be written with a bigger font. It's realy no great feat, lol.

message 111: by Leea (new)

Leea Ha! Well I know you are a busy working mother so I think that's really cool :)

message 112: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Haha, thanks... my mother thinks I read too much. She actually tried to give me a 'reading intervention'. Truth is I don't read too much at home. Not usually until my rugrat's in bed.

message 113: by Leea (new)

Leea My mom thinks i'm on the computer to much... she said I have a problem. When I told my husband he said NO you are fine honey :) Mothers?

message 114: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I know, they're ridiculous.

message 115: by Leea (new)

Leea Well said Wendy! I'm just scared that I act like her... You know?!?

message 116: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I know I act like my mom, which is completely scary. I just hope that I have enough of my biological and adoptive father, and my Grandma in me to counter act it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) My mom thinks the internet is the devil, I'm pretty sure.

Amanda (purplerose) | 12 comments Ladyhawk wrote: "So what is the secret to reading 10 books a month? Give up sleep?? I think I can average a book a week, if I'm lucky! Maybe I am a slow reader..."

LOL My stepson's wife posted this on my facebook wall the other day. I blog at least once a day (I have 3 blogs) and about 2/week are book reviews.

M: how do you have time to do all of this blogging, read all of those books for your reviews and cook/clean while homeschooling J (DS9) with B (DS2) running around? CRAZY!! lol

My answer: I don't sleep much. Also, I read really fast, and I compose most of my blog posts in my head before I ever sit down to write them, so it doesn't take long to actually write them. And/or I'm insane. :-) Also, I don't watch much TV. It cuts into my reading time. ;-)

Unlike Leea, my mom thinks all this reading is perfectly normal and my husband is the one who thinks I'm crazy.

message 119: by Ladyhawk (last edited Apr 20, 2011 04:55PM) (new)

Ladyhawk | 381 comments I would love to blog but am really not that clever or interesting! I guess we just find the time to do the things we want to do huh!

Tv is appealing to me less and less these days. It is such a waste of time. Reading is so much more productive and entertaining in my book. Plus with the exception of a few exeptional series, i.e. Game of Thrones and other book to series adaptations, it just seems to be "crap". Is it just me??

I guess size and genre does make a difference in how fast you can get through it! I'll try not to feel so "lacking" in the reading department!

message 120: by Ladyhawk (last edited Apr 20, 2011 09:56PM) (new)

Ladyhawk | 381 comments Reading intervention! Haha!! Don't let them do it!! If we are not really neglecting our families homes or jobs, then hey we should be allowed our, by most standards, innocent indulgance! Right??

message 121: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Apr 20, 2011 04:56PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) One of my huge pet peeves about t.v. and movies anyway is the recycling of things over and over. I didn't like the show the first time it was on in the 60's...why are we remaking it again?

There are so many good books out there. We should never run out of wonderful ideas for television and movies. Come on...why haven't we seen Outlander yet? There hasn't been anything done like those books. Same with something like the Fever series.

message 122: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I heard that they are leaning toward a premium channel show.

message 123: by Leea (new)

Leea Stacia *lollipopping like a mofo wrote: "My mom thinks the internet is the devil, I'm pretty sure."

LMAO!!! Well then we know you are not like her at all ;)

I'm less and less interested in TV as well.

Ladyhawk, I started a blog because I wanted to be cool but turns out I really don't have much to say or the right way to say it. I might just stop - can't decide. I see other peoples blogs and am amazed at all the creative stuff they have on them. I don't know how to do that.

My husband thinks i'm nuts - crazy reader... Most of the time he just shakes his head and goes downstairs to watch "his" shows LOL!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Not sure if we ever decided on how we were doing the group read?

I'm more partial to letting people read and discuss the book whenever they make the time to get to it. Trying to do "x" amount of chapters per week could mess with people who have fluctuating schedules.

But, for me it doesn't matter, so if people like being able to discuss the book chapter by chapter that's fine too.

message 125: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) It doesn't really matter to me either. I'm not so great at time frames, so chapter by chapter means that i'll probably be behind at some point. Plus I only read one book at a time, so it would slow my challenges down, haha. But I'm willing to give it a go if that's how people want to do it.

I think the question was raised because people are worried about spoilers in the Book thread... but we can always request that people use spoiler tags (though that means it would be littered with them). Thoughts anyone?

message 126: by Larisa (new)

Larisa | 17 comments It doesn't matter to me either. I just finished up our bsuy time at work and was looking for something new to read so I got a head start on the book and am a little over halfway through.

message 127: by Leea (new)

Leea Wendy and Stacia ~ You could always start a thread for people who have finished and want to start talking about the book? Just an idea! I do know that sometimes when you are reading a book you have questions or comments during it as well. We could always put what chapter we are on and then everyone know's where we are at, while commenting. Man I don't want this to get confusing LOL

message 128: by Gwennie (last edited Apr 21, 2011 08:14AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm with ya... so generic conversation would be fine, but if you have a question or you want to comment on something specific that could happen you could say this...

Chapter 13, page 175, I have a question (view spoiler)
.

Hmmm, I think it could work, but does anyone think it's too complicated?

I'm thinking that we should just put in the title that there could be a spoiler in the thread, so be forewarned. We could just use the old fashioned non-code way of tagging a spoiler (**spoiler**) to alert people...

message 129: by Leea (new)

Leea Yes, just like that :) Smart lady!

message 130: by Larisa (new)

Larisa | 17 comments the old fashioned way works best for me with spoilers. I haven't taken the time yet to figure out how to do the other way or where it shows pictures of the book when you list what you are reading...

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Do you mean like this? Everybody Poops 410 Pounds a Year by Keith Sebastian

When you're typing a comment, you'll notice a feature at the top of the chat window which says "add book/author." When you click on it, be sure to check the circle that says cover instead of the one that says link. That when you search for a book and hit add, it will show as a picture instead.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Could always do one spoiler topic and one spoiler free topic as well.

I always thought the easiest way was just to start one topic, put *spoilers* in the title and let people have at it. If people haven't read the book, they just stay out of the topic until they've read it. But that doesn't work if you're doing chapter by chapter either.

Don't mind me at all because I literally have no strong opinion or care one way or the other. I just have to discuss everything to death as we all know. Whatever Wendy decides is perfectly okay with me.

message 133: by Leea (new)

Leea Stacia is that what you are reading right now? Looks like stimulating reading :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I don't know if stimulating and poop are a good combo.

message 135: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (purplerose) | 12 comments Stacia ~ bite is worse than her bark wrote: "I don't know if stimulating and poop are a good combo."

We SO need a like button.

message 136: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Hahaha! Stacia, great response.

I think we're going to just read as we're ready and I'm going to just put *Spoilers* in the title. Lets keep it simple and light.

message 137: by Leea (new)

Leea Sounds great ladies!

message 138: by Larisa (new)

Larisa | 17 comments Thanks Stacia.

message 139: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk | 381 comments one more suggestion... we could break it down to about 4 chapters per week!! There are 17 chapters total. That would also give a fair amount of book to discuss in each given week. We are just on this book for a month right?

message 140: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments So what is the concensus? Are we breaking it down by chapters and discuss per week?

I need to know so I know how much to read.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I think it's just a reading free for all. Whenever you can get to it at your leisure. Wendy opened the spoiler topic for those wanting to talk about the book.

message 142: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Yep, it's just a read at your own pace, but watch out for spoilers type thing.

message 143: by Leea (new)

Leea Yay, Anyone start it yet? It's up next for me :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Yeah, I'm about 4 chapters in now.

message 145: by Larisa (new)

Larisa | 17 comments I finished it last week. It took a few chapters for me to get into it. I was happy with the end result

message 146: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'll be starting it, probably tomorrow.

message 147: by Vikisha (new)

Vikisha (lafemmetopaz) | 11 comments I'll start Larissa's book within the next week.
