I've got the first two of the Captive Prince series by C.S. Pacat, bought already signed from Dymocks. Oh! And, not a book, but a signed coversheet as a pdf from Brent Weeks when I noticed his book being read by a background character in the tv show The Almighty Johnsons. Gotta love it when authors tweet you back :D

I've got a bunch of my Matthew Reilly books signed, but my most prized one is Ice Station, because to go to that book signing I had chucked a sickie, so he wrote in it "Get back to work quickly!" Needless to say I didn't go back to work :)

In all seriousness though, I made a promise to myself to get all my Matthew Reilly books signed when his new novel comes out this October. He usually does a lot of book signings at many Westfields near me so hopefully I can get him there. If he refuses, then it's going to get real personal real quick. It'll be something right out of a Matthew Reilly novel [or something that he'll have to put in one of his novels].

I've been to a few of his signings and people bring stacks of books. I've gotten most of mine signed by now I think. I normally take 2 Alva time, including his most current one. I'm hoping he does a signing in Adelaide this time. he only did comic con last year.

Well, Comic Con is the perfect place to show off a DeLorean. It would look kind of awkward in the parking lot of Westfield. Now that I think about it, I'll probably only bring a few books as well. I'd feel weird bringing stacks of books with me and burdening my favourite author with them. I know one of them will definitely be "Ice Station" as that was the book that got me into reading and writing, especially with my current novel.

While I was researching my family history I discovered that "The Great Shame" by Thomas Kenneally, has a chapter about the ship that one of my ancestors was transported on (the Parmelia). I went looking for a copy and found one second hand, signed by the author.

Jumping in on this thread 4 years later 😅
I couldn't go to a convention for whatever reason, so my friend took my copy of The Final Empire for Brandon Sanderson to sign. He spelled my name wrong 😆 Mis-read the Post-it with the correct spelling.

Same friend bought me a copy of Customer Service Wolf : comics from the retail wilderness as a Christmas present, and she got lucky because it just so happened that Anne Barnetson was working in the bookstore that day (I think she's friends with the owners). She thought the book was for my friend, so started the signature "To Mel", then had to correct herself. She did so by drawing a little sketch of the wolf character from the book blacking out "Mel" with a paw print before continuing 😄😄
