Maria Magdalena (mariamagdalena50) Kimberley Sun, Di Morrissey
I have a signed (dedicated) copy, birthday present by my ex - who obviously did not know my taste in authors. Anyone interested, let me know - I'll send you the book for free. Lol.

That's a shame Maria...I usually enjoy Di Morrissey's books. Especially as she's an Aussie author:)

message 157: by Tango (new)

Tango | 290 comments My loving hubby just came back from the Crime and Justice festival in Melbourne with a signed Phrynne Fisher novel. He said Kerry Greenwood was lovely and he also chatted to Ian Rankin. I'm going next time!

Has anyone got any of their books signed by authors lately? Or in the last 12 months or so?

I have:
Wings of Fear, Shattered Sky and Burning Lies signed by Helene Young
Beyond Fear and Scared Yet? signed by Jaye Ford
Dark Country and Dead Heat signed by Bronwyn Parry
Stella Makes Good signed by Lisa Heidke
The Boy Who Fell To Earth signed by Kathy Lette
Celtic Blood signed by James John Loftus
No Remorse signed by Ian Walkley
Where Have You Been? and Why She Loves Him signed by Wendy James

Probably some more, but the thing is, prior to the beginning of last year, I didn't have any autographed books!

message 163: by Mish (new)

Mish | 3601 comments I won The Beast Within recently signed by one of our AR members Melissa Crowe.

Thankyou Melissa :)

Yeah I know. But if an Author is coming out & I've only got the book as an ebook, I think I'd buy the physical copy. I do like having books signed.

Sandra ~aka vamp gal~ (akavampgal) | 77 comments Thanks... It was the best Christmas present :)

I'm a paperback girl... The only books I have on kindle are ones you cannot get in paper!

message 170: by Elaine (new)

Elaine | 2001 comments I haven't had any recent signings but quite a few years ago I went to a reading of Paullina Simons The Bronze Horseman and was very priviledged to meet her and have my book signed. Needless to say it's still one of my prized possessions. Also have a signed copy of Marian Keyes book as well. She is hilarious although I have sadly outgrown her books. This just made me realise that it's been a very long time since I've been to any author signings. How sad!!!

My favourites are all paper, and most of my kindle are new authors, free books so I'm trying someone new. Plus like you say, ones that are a special ebook release only.

Even having grown out of the author, with the book signed, it's still very special. Something to always keep...both of your signings are fantastic Elaine! You would have been thrilled..

I prefer physical books too Sandra but I buy them at such a rapid race that I’ve got nowhere to store them now. I really had to buy a Reader to solve my dilemma.

I will continue to buy physical books but I’d probably be selective in what I buy

Oh, absolutely Brenda and yes they were both enjoyable and memorable experiences. Both authors were very warm and welcoming and actually had something to say to everyone that had their book signed. I was in awe!!!

I've only been reading for about six years now... My bookshelf is full... But I'm just going to go buy another one... I just don't like reading on an electronic screen :) I also have plenty of room for more bookshelves... Thankfully

Yes I can relate to that too. Maggie Stiefvater was the first author I met. I was so excited I'd almost gave her a bear hug Lol. I stopped myself at the last moment.

Wow you certainly have a wonderful collection! I'm jealous about Michael Connelly O_O!! And I agree about Matthew Reilly - I went to a signing at the end of 2011, and he signed his new release for me:)

message 190: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amandafoxy) | 28 comments Sadly, No. My son had a copy of Brisingr signed and I had a copy of one of Morris Gleitzman's books signed when he was in 'that'' phase (apparently, no great prize, because you can buy signed copies online). I think I'd rather 'chat' with an author of interest, but I'm not sure who I'd pick (so many interesting people to choose from!).

A.C. Flory (goodreadscomacflory) Many years ago I was lucky to get the autograph of Robin Hobb while she was here in Melbourne. Then just recently I went to Supanova Expo and met both Tad Williams and Hugh Howey. I am now the proud owner of autographed copies of 'The Dirty Streets of Heaven' and 'Shift'. :D
