Bennard, my son, I can join you in "Travels" and "Everyman." Not in my priority list but I'd like to read with you. They are slim and thin books too. But give me time, I have "Melancholy Whores" next week. Maybe we can start on Aug 6 for "Travels" and Aug 13 for "Everyman." I also have to look for my copies.Thank you for your consideration. - Dad
Hi! Anyone wants to read one or two of these books with me?Atonement
The Metamorphosis
Madame Bovary
Tess of the D'Ubervilles
The Sense of an Ending
Shiela: Nice books! I'm currently listening (again) to The Sense of an Ending. It's really short. I believe it can be read overnight. At mas maganda siyang i-F2F. :D
Angus wrote: "Shiela: Nice books! I'm currently listening (again) to The Sense of an Ending. It's really short. I believe it can be read overnight. At mas maganda siyang i-F2F. :D"I'm excited to read Barnes. But is it better to experience it in audio?
Shiela: Biased ako sa paper books, hehe. Pero dahil first person POV siya, maganda siya sa audio. Tapos sa last quarter ng book, medyo nag-iba ang boses ng narrator. Baka nagkasipon siya during the production, hahaha!
I agree with Angus: audiobooks are great for first-person narratives. Another good example is the audiobook for Never Let Me Go. A Visit from the Goon Squad, too, although partially first-person lang sya.
Angus: Thanks for that tiny, but important detail about the audio book. Will definitely influence my decision. haha. Aldrin: Thanks for the audio book recommendations. A Visit from the Goon Squad has good reviews so I'll add to my list.
Aldrin: Can you please bring copies of your audiobooks on Saturday? You'll be bringing a hard drive/laptop diba? :D
I think I can only bring Never Let Me Go. My audio copy of A Visit from the Goon Squad is technically an iPhone app. And my other audiobooks are tied to my Audible.com account. Do remind me about Never Let Me Go on the eve of my departure. Chos.
Shiela, I am interested to read with you the following:The Metamorphosis by Kafka - if we will start on August 13.
Tess of the D'Ubervilles - if we will start on August 20.
If the dates are okay with you, please open the threads, put your preferred reading schedule and we are good to go.
But I checked your profile and you have 11 books in your currently reading folder. Don't you want to clean those up first? They are all good books.
Also, aha! I noticed that you have not finished the buddy book that we had last year (your first buddy book?), Jonathan Franzen's FREEDOM? What happened? I appreciate the honesty though. You did not put it in the Read folder.
Aldrin: Okay sige, NLMG is a favorite naman. Sana lang hindi ko makalimutang magremind. I have lot of things to remind myself, hahaha!

Hi K.D.!
I have a good excuse for On Freedom: I haven't bought a printed copy yet----I discovered I prefer highlighting and making notes on printed books. But you see, that I've read The Corrections. That's because I found a copy in Booksale:)
I'll borrow my aunt's copy of On Freedom when I next visit her, then I'll send you a link to my review:)
Most books in my currently reading list are on writing (essays, anthologies)----they are references so I'll just delete them.
I'm ok with the August schedules. I have only one book for that month: The Great Gatsby.
Shiela, thanks for explaining. It's none of my business really. I just want a buddy who really complies with the agreement though. But if it gets in the way of other more important life tasks, I always understand. You may now create the links so that we will always remember. They will also be invitations for others to join us. Kafka is a favorite of mine. I've always been planning to read that "Tess" book since I saw it in one of Sharon Cuneta's movies. (^▼^)
@KD: Dad, It would be awesome to read with you again.:) Aug 6 and 13 are good dates for me so I look forward to it.:) Thanks!
Please feel free to open the thread, son. Your dad is now 48 and Alzheimer's is starting to creep in. (;_;)
Maybe number of pages?Or daily posts regardless on which page you stopped reading? As long as you read everyday?
Ito ba yung Reading Buddies thread? Bakit naging tagalog na yung title? hehehe. Did I miss something??
H: Yes, this is that thread. No, you are not missing something. There is a reason for the change but I am not yet in the position to divulge it. (^_~)
Ayos!

Hi Kuya, back out muna ako sa Vanity Fair.
Hello! Napag-usapan na to sa review ko (haha dun talaga): http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...Who wants to join us in buddy reading CLOUD ATLAS by David Mitchell? Ang daming fans ni Mitchell eh, so we thought we'd try him out too. And, also, read it before the movie shows in October. Sinong game? Eto na yung mga kasama: Tina, Aaron, Ingrid, Blue, JL, Alona, Beejay, Louize, with eavesdroppers Angus, Monique and Mae. :D

Tina, join ako! :D
I just received 2 copies of this book from Matthew Westfall (see the Promotions thread):
There are 2 t-shirts and 2 cloth bags printed with the book cover's design. Black. Nice.
My wife paid P550 to DHL. I am looking for a book buddy who can:
1. Pay me P275 so I will give him the book, t-shirt and bag
2. Read the book with me
3. Write an honest review
4. Must love war history (WWII here in the Philippines).
Remaining Buddy Reads for this year:Hello Buddies, let's finalize the dates! And yes, others can still join. :D
The Bell Jar (Me, Atty. Lynai, Tricia) - Mid September
The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet (Me, Atty. Monique, Mae) - Hopefully last week of September?
Anna Karenina (Me, Kwesi, Atty. Lynai, Alexa) - October, sa sem break ng mga "kids"
Kuya: Yehey! I think we can start after you and Atty. Lynai finish Everything Is Illuminated. I can't remember the last book we buddy read. Hmm. Is it The Line of Beauty?
Angus! Can I join The Bell Jar din? :D I want to join din sana Anna Karenina pero wag na lang kasi feeling ko tatamarin ako halfway, nakakahiya naman. Hehe.
Angus wrote: "sa sem break ng mga "kids" " HAHA THANKS AH :))Btw, can I eavesdrop for The Bell Jar? I love Sylvia Plath but I don't think I can read it this month, so I'll lurk na lang. Teyhey.
Actually, I tried a page of THE BELL JAR many months ago. Parang di ko type. So, I need a buddy to read it para mapilitan ako hehe.Angus: Oo yata. Alan Hollinghurst. Abala tayo kay Capote nowadays.
The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet (Me, Atty. Monique, Mae) - Hopefully last week of September?Sounds good to me. :)
