Hey all! I am seried out and am looking for single novel recommendations. I find myself getting too caught up in series and it takes a lot of time to read and right now I don't have a lot of time! Most of the things I have on my TBR list are parts of a series so I'm asking all you guys for your favorite single stories! Thanks in advance!

I thought this would be easy to answer but now I find I'm struggling to think of any paranormals that aren't part of a series. Graceling as Terry suggested, but I wasn't a huge fan of the romance in it. I loved Juliet Marillier's Wildwood Dancing
. I'm not sure if it's part of a series but it can definitely stand on its own. Great book!
Wildwood Dancing does have a sequel, Cybele's Secret but it is a whole new story about the sister of the main character in Wildwood Dancing so Wildwood Dancing does not need to be followed up with another book. I love every Juliet Marillier book I have read and own all of them - have collected most of them in Hardback so I have the paperbacks to loan out.
It's not a romance, but a neat story behind it is Blood Oath. A vampire as the presidents own secret assassin kind of thing. Blood Oath
Again not much for romance, but lots of neat demon stuff in there, and there is a brewing romance throughout it.
Salt and Silver
And this one is older, I read it in high school, haha! But it was interesting, Vampires on mars kinda thing.
The Season of Passage
Sorry, none of these are much for romance, but you might find something in there ya like. :)
If you don't mind two related books (not really a series), you might enjoy
They're light reading. Another light book is:
Since I like to read series, that's the sum total of my single title PNRs. ;)
A big YA stand-alone romance right now (because of the movie) is
. I enjoyed it. Nothing too intense or worldly. Just a nice, simple need.
If you like romantic suspense, both Nora Roberts and Linda Howard have a lot of stand alone books. You might enjoy
,
, or
among some of NR's older books; or you might like
,
, or
by LH. I would think that most if not all of these would be available at the library.
Most of Cindy Miles books are stand alone. Sometimes a character from one might have a cameo in another, but the stories don't depend on it. My favorite by her so far is Highland Knight.A couple oldies, but goodies - The Wizard of Seattle by Kay Hooper and Spellbound in Seattle by Garthia Anderson.
Also, My Favorite Witch by Lisa Plumley.
Marie Brennan also had a good two book series - Warrior and Witch.
