R2 TEAM THREAD: Team #6 Sixie Chicks [FIRST PLACE]
Favorite Series: Queen of Song and Souls. I tried to get it on Kindle Sunday...Not available! So, had to wait until Monday to contact my dealer to see if he had it in stock. YEAH!! I pick it up tonight!!
Storm Born by Richelle MeadMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
Eugenie Markham is a shaman and a mercenary, but that's not all she is. In the first of the Dark Swan series, she finds out more about her origins and begins a journey to fulfill, or not, her destiny. Kiyo Marquez, a kitsune (fox) shifter, and Dorian, a fae king, play pivotal rolls in her adventures.
I enjoyed her sass and the fast paced story. However, (view spoiler)
My curiosity is definitely engaged, and I'll be reading the next installment fairly soon!

I've heard unhappy comments about book 3 (is that the one? Lovely lurkers correct me if I'm wrong!)...but still wanna read it ;). Have you read much of the series?
Judithe wrote: "I've heard unhappy comments about book 3 (is that the one? Lovely lurkers correct me if I'm wrong!)...but still wanna read it ;). Have you read much of the series?"::waving:: Yep, it's the third book. I hated it. Made me swear to never read any more Richelle Mead, and I'm current on all of her stuff, so that's saying something.
But we also know that I can be a book nazi--I don't suffer fools lightly. Or at all, come to think of it. ;)
I have finished
my favorite - series book.Read 4/27/2011 5 stars.
This is one of those series where you don't think it could get any better and then it does.
Gin is supposed to be a retired assassin but it seems there is always someone who needs to be killed. I really like that she has a love interest who maybe she just might have a future with because he knows who she really is and doesn't let it bother him. Gin also meets someone from her past and is unsure if she should reveal to this person who she is.
Must get my hands on the next installment soon!
That's one I've been meaning to get for so long...lol...better go add it to my shopping cart before it slips my mind again!
Ain't that the truth! LOL...I've been MIA this week, too...catching up on GR mail now...missing the banter! Is everyone alive? Or out enjoying the sunshine with their books in hand?
I wish there was sunshine to enjoy here. :-( Too much rain. Although that just makes me snuggle in my bed with a book, which I love doing.I AM really enjoying reading Darkfever for the favorite-series shelf. Haha.
Good!! That is a great series! We had torrential rain yesterday, so it's nice to see the sun today! Now back to tackling the laundry-mountain (hanging out to dry is the preferred method in my adopted country, and have got to get the laundry OUT while the sun's still shinin'!)
Up here in Seattle we are actually forecasted to get snow in the foothills tomorrow morning, which includes my house. Now we are just hoping La Nina leaves soon and we have a summer!
It's really good. I'm kind of sad that I'll be done with it soon, cuz I don't have the book on hand.
The snow in April is unusual, not unheard of, but really uncommon. We usually only get a few inches here or there and it doesn't stick long, but for some reason the town I live in became a snow globe this year. Quite a few times we were the only place around with any snow, but the kids love it! I'm glad you are liking Darkfever Alyssa, I loved those books. I am counting down the days until
comes out next week. Probably in my top 5 favorite series!
Heather: Yeah. We had some crazy snow this year too. Got snowed in overnight at work. Of course it was also the night before my birthday. Fun times. There was a bit of thunder snow that night though. It was pretty cool.I've been dying to read Hard Bitten since right after Twice Bitten came out. Defintely one of my favorite series too.
I absolutely adore Merit. I love my heroines snarky. Haha.
Hard Bitten is going to be a birthday present to me from me. Can't wait!We are having rainy weather mixed with some snowflakes here in Minnesota.
I always feel like the bringer of good news over here... I finished the book for my demon shelf, Bec! *Stamp-dances*I give it 4 stars. This book is creepy and full of demon slaying grossness. Full review (:
It's been wonderful last couple of days here in the Netherlands. We actually had some forest fires because it didn't rain for so long. I feel sorry for you guys that still have to cope with snow.
Before I forget, I'll be reading The Hunger Games for the favourite-series shelf! Looking forward to see what it's like (:
Favorite series Queen of Song and Souls 4/27/11 ★★★★ I really like the heroine, the premise, the plot, just about everything in the series. I will be sad to read the last book. Hopefully, the author will continue the world in a related series (or this series!)…that would be cool!!
Here's my review of
for the favorite-series shelf.
Darkfever by Karen Marie MoningMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Well, my first dip into a Fae wold was a great one. Seelie or Unseelie, I'm pretty freaked out by both. Haha. The Fae aren't exactly the nicest things to want to hang out with.
MacKayla Lane, or Mac as she likes to go by, is just having a tough time. Her sister, Alina, is murdered while studying abroad in Dublin, Ireland. Mac decides to go to Dublin to find who murdered her sister. What she doesn't know is that she's going to find out more about herself and her sister than she ever wanted to know.
Turns out Mac is a sidhe-seer, someone who can see through the glamour that the Fae use to hide their true selves from humans. To say that she is freaked out by this new knowledge of herself is a major understatement.
In Dublin, Mac meets a man that can help her find out who murdered her sister. He can also teach her about this new world she's been thrust into. His name is Jericho Barrons, and she's not exactly happy about needing his help. Barrons sounds hot, but I'm still undecided as to whether or not I actually like him. I need to find out more about him in the next book.
I think I'm really going to enjoy this series. Hopefully I have time to read the next book in the series Bloodfever really soon.

Any word on when your computer will be back home??
And don't you HATE PCs that load slow....remember, unlike with the kids, it doesn't help to give them little "love-taps"...no matter how much you want to.
Oh how I love reading your little snippets by everyone's books, Judithe. So cute! :)Yay on your 'demons' stamp! Off to update now.
CONGRATULATIONS, Sixie Chicks! You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'demons'.

Good Job!! :D
Finished my book for the favourite-series shelf! The Hunger Games are AWESOME. 5 stars. I had no idea what this book was about before I started reading, and I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting a second Twilight, but The Hunger Games are way more kick-ass. Can't wait to read the second book in the series. (:
For the paranormal-fiction shelf I'll read Every Which Way But Dead.
Early Shelf Announcement: Happy Early May Day! Happy Reading, Everyone!
Our Next Shelf is: 'vampires'
DIRECT LINK: 'vampires'
Woo Hoo! Vampires will give us four in a row...I would like to read
for the vampires shelf, but I have question for everyone. Based on the synopsis on my library page, it doesn't really sound like a vampire book, but it is on the shelf. Is this a misplaced book, or does it really belong?
I haven't read Demonicas yet Heather, but it doesn't matter. As long as its on the shelf you can read it, vampires or not.
Sandra wrote: "I haven't read Demonicas yet Heather, but it doesn't matter. This was just one of the library ones I currently have so thought I would check. Thanks!
Have gotten caught up in a TV program about green tea...blends for beautiful skin, high blood pressure, but none to stop the leaky faucet that is my nose at the moment. Bleh...it's fascinating, but looking for a vamp book is more so!So...
or
~whichever grabs me most in 3hours and 7 minutes (aka May 1~both are in May challenges!!)
@Celine~so glad you liked Hunger Games! That was one of THE best books (series) I read this year...even hooked my younger kidlet on it (he's jazzed `bout the movie, but wants books 2 & 3 first which are not available for him...grrr). Have you picked up the next ones?

I think the story lends itself great for the white screen, I can't wait to see it (:
Luckily, I already bought the second and third book before I started book one. Risky, but it turns out to be a smart move after all :D I really had no idea The Hunger Games would be so awesome.
