Woo! Sunday I go learn all there is to know about dog training from the dog guru of the century!
I had to pay 120 euros for it, but seeing Cesar Milan live will totally be worth it! :D

I haven't seen It's Me Or The Dog.
Cesar is one of my gods, though. Especially when he treats problem cases with big dogs, shows that the dog is just misunderstood and as such their problems are not approched correctly.
The ones with the little dogs are all the same story. People treat the dog like a person, not a dog, and the dog ends up with small dog syndrome, believing itself to be the leader of the pack.
The bf is talking about adopting a Grego (or however it's spelt - Spanish greyhound) from an agency that brings them to Holland from Spain. I've told him sure if he gets one that's ok with cats, small children, and being home alone for 8 hours one day a week.

There's nothing like a misunderstood animal.
Hahaha, I'd love to see how he manages to figure all that out.
The representative told him they had a dog that fit the criteria! But I think it was a mad drunken idea that didn't sound quite so great when he was suffering from the hangover the day after.
I'll have to look into IMotD then.
We had a woman like that come to help us train our Collie but she gave up on him. He had a screw loose, though. Some family had bought him to be a companion to a disabled child in a wheelchair but he'd started to get bored and destructive. Cue two more homes then us... by this time he'd decided that it was him against every other dog in the world. Dog psychologists just couldn't get through to him. He ended up going to a home of last hope and we got a Berner instead. She was fantastic.

You should, I spent the episode telling my mum that this woman was batty.
Aww, Collie's and boys in wheelchairs don't mix. Collie's are a very active breed. At least the dog after was okay.
I'll set the bf on finding some downloads when he gets in!
Is she an English woman? I don't know why but I can just picture an aging middle-class Brit with very curly hair and a penchant for brightly-coloured clothes!
I have no idea why they bought the collie for a disabled child. He was one of those dogs that you could train to dance with you, just always wanted to learn. We used to take him to play baseball with us: dad would pitch, one of us kids would bat, dog would bring the ball back!
The dog after was the perfect family dog... but was useless at baseball. What do you mean fetch? You're the one that threw it away, go fetch it yourself!

I know, it's a silly idea, you need a quiet dog for something like that, a calm dog. The Collie could play baseball? That's impressive.
Rofl, my cat's like that when we try to get him to move off the chair and get him on the floor. He looks at us like, no this is my chair now, you sit on the floor. He then goes back to sleep in typical cat style.
Ah, there go all my bright colours then!
He was great at baseball! He was completely driven to fetch so he would always bring the ball back to us and then wait impatiently for it to be whacked away again. He'd keep going until he wore all the skin off the pads on his paws and then still try to keep limping after the ball.
That sounds like your typical cat! One of ours has claimed a chair as well. My chair, go get your own.

Aww poor thing, it must have nbeen all that freedom going to his head, you know just a nice chance to run about and be a dog.
I'm just glad it's not my chair. =D
The dog used to walk himself! He could jump out of the garden, so he'd let himself out, walk around the farmer's fields then come back home and jump back into the garden when he was done!
Will he ever come sit with / next to you? Our cats have very different personalities. Black cat just wants to be left alone to sit on her chair in peace and quiet, mini cat wants to be social... she's a bit... bitey, though. Even the other animals don't like letting her snuggling up to them!

Early morning and bedtime. He likes to sleep with me in the winter (September - March) and my mum in the summer. It's ridiculous. Sometimes if he's really bored during the day he'll join me. He likes to watch the TV and my chair is in the best position, he likes that professor Brian Cox who was in a band ages ago. It's his voice. Do your cats like anything weird?
My cats don't really have weird habits like that, but the dog does! Doorbells are the worst. If someone rings the doorbell in the movie, the dog goes and stands at our front door and won't stop barking even when we show her there's no one out there!
She also likes horror movies. She'll sit in front of the TV with her head cocked to one side during all the gory bits! lol. Don't know whether you've ever seen Hannibal but she was fascinated by the scene where Hannibal puts the rope around the priest's neck, slits him open then pushes him out of the window, so when he reaches the end of the rope and jerks all his organs come flying out. The dog was only about 2 months old then but she watched the whole thing!

Never mind the cat watching horror movies, I can barely watch them myself. So no I haven't Hannibal, I like to watch gentle movies that make me cry. (I'm a sensitive soul lol)
Changing topic entirely, it's remembrance day here, so I'm gonna go awol for a bit. 2 minutes silence for all those who gave their lives to ensure the freedom of the Netherlands from the Nazis. All our flags are at "half mast" (not the correct term but only one that's coming to me atm).
So thank you to those who died to ensure my liberties and freedoms here, 66 years down the line.

Indeed I wholeheartedly agree, even though I'm not in the Netherlands.
Tomorrow is liberation day, so they remember the dead the day before they celebrated being liberated from Nazi oppression. In France it's at the end of the week (the 8th).
In England everybody came together, but in the occupied countries there were plenty of people who just bowed their heads and let the Nazis walk all over them because they preferred a life like that to death in general. I've been lucky enough to visit three of the concentration camps (2 in Germany - Buchenwald and Dora - and one in France). A member of the Resistance who had been sent to the German camps went with us, so we had a first hand account of what he lived through. It was very moving, I'll never forget it.
An increasing number of people seem to believe that we should forget about WW2 not, forget about the Holocaust. I don't agree with that. We must remember so we do not make the same mistakes again.

They did I know, I just read a book today that was set in Lithuania during WW2 which is a coincidence. Lithuania had it even worse because they were stuck in the middle of Hitler and Stalin, I never knew. I learnt a lot from that book.
Wow, I'd love to visit the concentration camps. They were filled with such terror but at the same time the will of the people to live through it.
I'll never forget it and if I ever have children they'll bnever forget it. We can't make the mistakes again, but lets be honest though, we kind of are what with Afghanistan and Iraq, it's so stupid to start a war.
Which book was it that you were reading about Lithuania? I have a friend here from Lithuania and she tells me a lot about her country, she's even offered to teach me some of the language, so she's got me quite interested in her culture. I believe that they still have problems there. Close by the country there's a block of Russian land (Caleningrad or something similar) that is still protected by the Russians but hardly anyone lives there. There are even still tanks left abandoned wherever they were when the war ended. Sounds very different to the life we know.
I'd love to visit the camps in Poland as that's where the worst of the atrocities took place. We were going to go with school, but a coach trip from south-east France to Poland would have taken too long and cost too much.
I agree with the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. It wasn't really our place to interfere. I've heard people talkingin interviews about how the death of Bin Laden will lead to the downfall of Al Quaeda, same as the death of Hitler was tied with the death of the Nazi party. They obviously have a) no real knowledge of history and b) no knowledge of current events within Al Quaeda. I'm afraid that it's going to lead to some form of retaliation somewhere in the world.

Wow, if you'd have had the money it would have been an amazing opportunity.
I know what you mean about Al Quaeda, they hate too many people and are too angry with the whole world to just disband. While it's good that Bin Laden is dead (I thought it was a hoax at first) there are plenty of other people who are willing to take his place and will do so gladly.
I'll have to look up Shades of Gray. Is it aimed at adults or teens?
The difference between the Nazis and Al Quaeda is that the Nazi party had already pretty much disbanded by the time Hitler shot himself (though recent studies show that those who claim they heard the gun go off were lying as they could not have heard the report over the noise of the generators in the bunker). Al Quaeda is still going pretty strong and it has a right-hand man that will have been ready to take the lead as of the moment that Bin Laden could not longer be the front man.

I know. The reason Hitler killed himself was because he'd lost and he was too cowardly to face the consequences of his actions. (Really? I knever knew that.) I think America will be the ones that get the retaliation as they're the ones who killed Bin Laden. Al Quaeda knew that the day would come when America would find their leader, they aren't stupid.
Well, Hitler had already gone pretty much mad by the end of it all, too. He didn't learn from Napoleon's mistake. You should leave Russia alone!
They're advising Americans and Europeans to stay away from busy areas and tourist attractions. Not sure it'll happen this soon, though. It'll happen when we think they've been unable to retaliate.

Really? I agree, there's no point in doing anything when we're expecting it or where we're expecting it. I think they'll choose somewhere random once we've decided they won't.
Russia's so big that most people underestimate the distances. It doesn't help that no one has the slightest clue what's going on there. Did you see the report on how they treat asylum seekers with coloured-skin?
I think most of their anger will be directed towards the US atm, but if they're clever then they'll lay low for a while. I agree that they'll pick somewhere no one would ever have expected.

I have no doubt about that but with Obama being hailed as some sort of Bin Laden slaying God, I think America are going to get cocky.
I just heard that the last person surviving WW1 died last night. =(
Oh really? I was watching a documentary about him not long ago. That's so sad. It won't be long until all those who lived through WW2 will also be gone.
As for Russia, well, some dark-skinned Africans figure they'll go to Russia, as it's easier to get in there, and use it as a stepping stone to get into Europe. Only, once in Russia they get put in these camps (I think they're ex-military camps) in the middle of nowhere where it's freezing cold all year round. If they ever need to visit a lawyer for legal matters, it's a 30 mile (or could be km) drive and they are required to make the journey in the boot of the car. One of the members of the Russian government openly admitted to these actions, saying that they want to conserve a pure, white race in Russia and the only immigrants they're interested in are those from the Ukraine and Belarus.
America is already cocky. I'm worried that when (if) Al Quaeda retaliates there, the Americans will bray for blood. Some of them seem unable to separate Muslim terrorists from normal Muslims in their heads and just think that the whole of the Middle East should be nuked. Not good when they're the ones that own the most advanced military everythings.

Wow. That's so cruel. They want to conserve a pure white race? I think I've just figured out where the BNP belong. It's not right though, people can't help the colour of their skin. Nobody is inferior because of their skin colour.
I know. Some Americans are so stupid. They refuse to see people for who they are. Just because some people believe in a different God it doesn't mean they want to kill us all. I know, America will be the downfall of this world.
I suppose that history always has to eventually slip away but it's the times when 'the lasts' are finally all dead that you realise that we no longer have first hand accounts, it's history that's becoming dead history rather than living history.
I can understand where Russia is coming from, due to all the problems they're seeing in Western Europe, but that doesn't mean that they should treat people in such a manner. It's a bit of a tricky situation when you talk about skin colours and mixing them. From a scientific point of view, it's not beneficial for the human race. From a cultural point of view, it's fascinating how some cultures are able to merge while others aren't.
Did you ever see that video of the famous American singer on the game show where adults test their knowledge against that of children?
"Budapest is the capital of which European country?"
"This may be a stupid question, but I thought Europe was a country. I know they speak French there!"
:/
The contestant got famous due to American Idol - with the British Simon Cowell, too!!
For me, that represented American mid-west knowledge of the world outside of the US.

I get it too, I mean in the UK people are just streaming in thinking that we're well off when Gordon Brown trashed our country and we're not in a good place. Wow, scientists have actually researched that? They should be finding cures to cancer.
No I didn't. Even I'm not stupid enough to think Europe is a country. Then the Americans wonder why people from American Idol rarely make it in the UK. Don't talk to me about Simon Cowell, he annoys me so bad. =/
I don't think the scientists researching human evolution are the same as those researching cancer. Completely different field, but just as important for medical knowledge. Like, for example, dark-skinned people ('black') react to certain meds better than light-skinned ('white') people. Also, they've discovered that a certain number of people who are descended from Europeans who survived the plague have a gene mutation. When two people with this mutation procreate, the child has a high natural immunity to AIDS. So, our natural evolutionary history is very important, too. Had we not invented travel, and thus mixed 'the races', we would have eventually ended up with 7 or 8 sub-species of humans that may or may not have been able to procreate together. You already see the starters for it, people are built very differently depending on the origins of their ancestors, but we're now undoing evolution. This is why it is not beneficial for us as a species. We are the only species in the world that is 'de-evolving'.
Well, you wouldn't think Europe is a country :p You live here. But it's like you thinking that the United States is just one big country where one government rules over everything and there's no such thing as a 'state'. I don't hold it against her that she didn't know that Budapest is the capital of Hungary (which they pronounce as Hungry for some reason) as I do not know all the capitals of all the American states. But to believe we are one country and all speak one language when there's such a wealth of peoples, languages, cultures - everything! - here... that's difficult to forgive.
