Dawn Kurtagich (dawnkurtagich) I'm reading Matched right now (by Ally Condie). LOVE it so far. :)

Ooh, I was thinking of reading this series. It's good?

Heidi Stacia wrote: "Thanks for helping though! I will definitely take any recs that I can get."

Any type of book in particular? I don't think you want to unleash me without a clue on this one. I may go a little overboard on my love of all that is audio. p.s. I look through your shelves (pardon the intrusion) and WOW you have a lot of books in your tbr pile! I only looked at a few pages and from your pile I highly recommend The Book Thief by Markus Zusak or Bloody Jack Being an Account of the Curious Adventures of Mary "Jacky" Faber, Ship's Boy (Bloody Jack, #1) by L.A. Meyer on audio.

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Just my opinion...
Good audio:
I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning
Not so great, Again just my opinion and based SOLELY on the vioce of the narrator and the way the book was read, not the book itself....
The Summoning (Darkest Powers, #1) by Kelley Armstrong The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare
I wasn't too impressed with One for the Money (Stephanie Plum, #1) by Janet Evanovich

Ha! It is crazy when you are gone for even half a day around here. I love this group!

message 4756: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Bluemoon everyone loves the Fluke books, but they are too slow for me (as I think I told you). Anyhoo, I did finish The Missing Ink (Tattoo Shop Mystery, #1) by Karen E. Olson last night and thought is was really good (even though I am not AT all into tattoos).

message 4757: by Vanesa (new)

Vanesa Just started "Beautiful Darkness" only on page 30 and all the food reference got me hungry!

message 4758: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I am reading Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta .

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I CANNOT express how AWESOME the Bloody Jack series is on audiobook. I find myself laughing out loud as I drive sometimes at the strange things Jacky does. Hilarity and good fun!

(I'm serious about the laughing out loud part. Other drivers probably think I'm crazy).

rosyaffair (_lifeismusic_) | 14 comments I am reading Impossible by Nancy Werlin! I am almost done, and I have enjoyed it from begining to nearly the end. It was a non-stop page turner book!

You're not the first one to say this to me. Maybe this will be my second chance audiobook series.

message 4763: by Sara (new)

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I finished Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6) by Richelle Mead early this morning. I am not sure what I'm going to read next.

message 4764: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Emily the first Bloody Jack book doesn't have anything too inappropriate, there is some talk of kissing and her getting her time of the month, but it would likely go over their heads. She grows up in the series, so the later books might not be great for really young ears.

message 4765: by Sara (new)

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I decided to read The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness .

Victoria (closer2coma86) | 83 comments Hi everyone! I haven't posted in a good 4 or 5 months, but I digress. Tonight after I get my son to bed I plan on starting Generation Dead by Daniel Waters.

Just finished book two The Ask and the Answer and I can't get to B&N fast enough to get book three! Enjoy the series. It is fantastic.

There are lots of men with nefarious intent towards Jacky. But I don't think the young ones will really pick up on what is happening.

message 4770: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments I'm happily chipping away at The Ask and the Answer (Chaos Walking, #2) by Patrick Ness and enjoying it very much. I've already told my wife that I think this series is going to be my Hunger Games (because she loved that series so much - except for Mockingjay).

Meanwhile, I'm also working on my 2nd reading of A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, #2) by George R.R. Martin . This series was fantastic the first time I read it and is even better the 2nd time around.

A quick note to those of you who have commented about The New World (prequel to The Knife of Never Letting Go): I believe this is a Kindle exclusive. It is a just a short story. I read it first and was impressed enough to want to try out the series. (And I'm glad I did.) So, if you're holding out because it's only on ebook - it is FREE and keep in mind that you're reading all these messages electronically, so you have already given in to technology in a sense. Doesn't mean you should miss out on an entertaining story. You can always download and use the Kindle for PC version to read it and stick to the good old paper-in-hand editions of the series and maintain your personal integrity. :)

Happy reading!

PS: Everyone is making me positively ITCH to finish up this series - but I only have so much time! If only I could sneak away during all this holiday stuff. Alas, my son would notice (can't speak for anyone else though). :P

message 4771: by [deleted user] (new)

I just finished Portal (Portal Chronicles, #1) by Imogen Rose which I liked and will read the sequel.

I started On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta and I'm not too sure about it. I'll keep plugging away at it but I'm not enjoying it at this point.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Yay!!!! Keep going Shannen, you'll become a Melina Marchetta convert too!

message 4773: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Shannen- I had high hopes for Jellicoe. :( Hope it gets better for you.

I am reading Lover Avenged and just started Last Sacrifice, which I have been so excited for and I am loving it.

message 4774: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Stick with Jellicoe - it takes almost 200 pages to know what the heck is going on! It is one of my all time favorites now. I just finished her first book Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta and liked that one as well. Now I just need March to get here for Piper's Son!

message 4775: by Heidi (last edited Dec 20, 2010 10:02AM) (new)

Heidi I am so excited about all the people reading the Chaos Walking series - yay!

Kourtni I am reading Lover Avenged (listening to it). I am liking it :)

message 4776: by [deleted user] (new)

Kourtni - Will let you know what I think when I'm done (it's not looking good).

Heidi - Why do I have to read a book for 200 pages before it gets good???

message 4777: by Kourtni (last edited Dec 20, 2010 10:10AM) (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Yay for Chaos Walking!!!

I haven't made it very far into Lover Avenged yet Heidi, but I like what I've read thus far. Much better than the last couple of BDB books for me.

I cannot wait to start reading some Melina Marchetta. You guys are getting me so excited about her! - Except for Shannen..lol.

Heidi Shannen wrote: "Kourtni - Will let you know what I think when I'm done (it's not looking good).

Ha! I thought the same thing Shannen - look at the comments on mine (or is is Peeps?) review. I kept giving updates saying I was confused and was not sure why I was reading it. I am SO SO happy I finished. It is the best love story I have read in ages. Oh Jonah Griggs *sigh*

message 4779: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments I've had Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta on my library list for some time now. All the talk is making me need to get to that one soon. Maybe early 2011? :P

message 4780: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I can't believe you don't trust our recommendations Shannen! It has to be something good in order to pass the book snob test, you know. You will like it. I was confused at first but for some reason I kept reading and well, you know the rest. Basically, I stalk the author.

What page are you on?

Oh no, does that mean it has to have some sort of romance in it? I've noticed a trend in what you ladies look for in your reading. :D

Oh it is SO much more than a romance. I just said that because Shannen is a softy for a romance.

That's okay, I'm just kiddin' anyway. I'm all about a good, solid story. (Despite my wife thinking I need lots of action, fighting and explosions in my movies and books - I really just want a well told story. Period.) I've read the synopsis of the book and it still sounds good. Even with the mushy stuff! :D

message 4784: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Wow, I have been gone from here for a month or so and I am not even going to try and catch up with the post..LOL

I am reading the Christmas Carol (can you believe I have never read it..lol)

Also reading Club Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, #3) by Charlaine Harris though its not YA.

As far as a YA book not sure what to read..lol. I did just finish The Lying Game (The Lying Game, #1) by Sara Shepard and it was pretty good. Though I haven't read them (just what I have heard about them) I think if any of you like the Pretty Little Liars series you would probably like this one too..but I hate having to wait on the next book to see what happens..ugh. :)

Romance is good, very good but there's so much more going on than that. I say book snob because I don't like 70% (was never that great at math) of the books I read. I'm just not too vocal about it. >_<

But yeah, this one definitely goes into my top books read. It is just good, it's hard to explain. Definitely worth moving up. I have noticed that my top books I loved this year all seem to be a little on the serious side.

Evelina C (evelinaguekguezian) | 18 comments Just finished The Replacement. I have a mixed review, although it was a quick and interesting read. I felt a lack of cohesion between the contemporary YA vibe and the paranormal stuff.

Oh, well. Next on my list is Finnikin of the Rock. I've heard very good things about this book.

Actually I would like to know what you think. It is so much more than straight romance... but I have been debating recommending it to a male friend of mine, but I haven't heard a review from a male perspective. I would appreciate an update once you've finished.

message 4789: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I feel like the romance is amazing, but it's secondary to what happens to Taylor. The book is more about her personal growth, imho.

message 4790: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments It's okay. I've enjoyed most of the books people have recommended on here. I tend to think more about the story than I do about romance or relationships between people anyway. (That's why I didn't get the whole "Team Peeta" etc. about Hunger Games.) :)

No problem. I'll let you know once I actually get it read. :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I'm not a very romantical person for a girl and I do NOT read straight romances. I only like romance when it's secondary to the story (and then I do enjoy it and it makes me feel a little girly even). I don't think I would ever classify Jellicoe Road as "Romance" because to me that seemed minor to Taylor figuring out herself. (Though I can squeal at Jonah a little...). The problem is that Jellicoe Road is so hard to classify, it doesn't fit prettily into the little labels or categories we put on book. It's just amazing, that's all you can say about it!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Amen Cassi... it is just amazing!! and so indescribable. A must read for sure.

I read more at lunch. No clue what page I'm on as it's on my Kindle. I'm 12% through it. Way too confusing but I'll stick with it.

message 4795: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Man, it is confusing but just keep reading. I'd say get to almost quarter of the way through it and it should start getting easier.

You need to get about 50% through it and then come back to us.

LOL! Are you trying to trick me? Since everyone is so insistent, I'll keep reading. But I really want to quit and read Dreamfever again before Shadowfever comes out (or one of the VA books). ;)
