Lyle Kimo Valdez (eskablong) | 40 comments Just finished reading Behemoth (Leviathan, #2) by Scott Westerfeld and it was great! Better than Leviathan.

Now I'm finishing Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist , and after that I'm going to take a rest from YA novels, and read my backlog of epic fantasies. :D

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Finished Liar by Justine Larbalestier . Has anyone else read it? Not sure what I think about how the story changed halfway through. Mainly because it turned out not to be the book I thought I was reading. Going to think for awhile before reviewing it.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Okay I'm starting Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale

Also I'm going to buy my mom a book because today's her birthday on the way home from work. She doesn't read what I read--no fantasy at all. Magic is a no go. If anyone has a suggestion that's light and easy for a 50 yr old woman let me know.

message 4258: by Heidi (new)

Heidi The Help by Kathryn Stockett Cassi - it is my favorite book of 2010.

message 4259: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I just finished I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak and starting Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac by Gabrielle Zevin .

message 4260: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Good question Carmel!

message 4261: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments To be truthful I thought it was brilliant, but I didn't think that at first. I thought the first 3/4 of the book was stupid. I wasn't getting the story and I almost put it down a few times. Finally at about page 300 things clicked for me and I loved the book. I have a small crush on Ed Kennedy and the ending was perfect.

Yay! Me too. I loved it and highly recommend the audio version :)

message 4263: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I read 1/2 of the book, then went and got it on audio cause someone recommended it to me, it might have even been you Heidi, anyways it was good on audio! Then I went back and finished the paper book.

message 4264: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Now I have to finish it. I gave up the first time around. I'm thinking I'll try and get the audio.

message 4265: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm just starting Blood Promise. I was going to start Finnikin of the Rock but Rose and Dimitri were calling out to me. It's doubtful that I'll get to Finnikin by the end of the month but I'm hoping to read it next.

message 4266: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Shannen, I think you will really like Finnikin. I can't believe you chose Rose and Dimitri over him.

message 4267: by [deleted user] (new)

I love Rose and Dimitri. You shouldn't have quit reading that series after the first book.

Yes! The audio rocks!

message 4273: by Traci (new)

Traci hm. I picked up the first Vampire Academy from Half Price Books last week and I was excited to read it. Now you guys are giving mixed opinions! aaahhh

message 4274: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Traci remember that's Heidi and I talking. Our ratings standards could be considered slightly higher than average. Only slightly.

message 4275: by [deleted user] (new)

Traci - I just looked at your books and ratings and I'm positve that you'll like Vampire Academy. Ignore Heidi. She's a book snob. (Peep's just weird.) LOL!

message 4276: by Gj (new)

Gj (geee-jayyy) | 1 comments Hey! I'm new to this site and to this group. I'm currently reading 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson. I like it so far. Now, I want to go to Europe!

Shannen! Person with feelings here.

@Mia: Hi!

message 4278: by Traci (new)

Traci hahahah well I'm definitely going to give it a shot. My roommate is making me read The Chaos Walking series right now and they're pretty giant books so I won't get around to my stack for a while. Which makes me very sad because I just got 8 books last week :( School and work get in the way.

message 4279: by [deleted user] (new)

Awww, Peep. You should know by now that I like weird.

Hi, Mia!

message 4280: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I just brought an armload back from the library to read, I'm not sure what I should get to next....I ended up getting the first 4 books of The Morganville Vampires, I haven't read them yet. Otherwise I got a copy of Night Star, the ever controversial 5th installment of Alyson Noels the immortals series. I did enjoy Evermore, but ther rest have gotten bad but I still will drag my heels and read it. Oh, I got Paper Towns too which I am excited to read. Where to start??

I haven't read Paper Towns yet. tell me how it is, when you're done :)

Im reading Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver then Unearthly by Cynthia Hand

message 4282: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I finally finished the Mortal Instrument series and now I'm reading Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward .

message 4283: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Wendy,
Oooohhhh, BDB is good!

message 4284: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I wasn't sure, I was afraid it would be cheesy (based off the covers). But the more review's I read and the more people talked about it, the more eager I was to start it.

message 4285: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Wendy wrote: "I finally finished the Mortal Instrument series and now I'm reading Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward."

It is cheesy, but in the best possible way. There is no explanation as to why I like this series, but I sure do!

message 4286: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Shannen hurt my feelings too Peep *weep *weep*. Having said that, Traci knowing your tastes somewhat from these threads, I am guessing the Vampire Academy books are probably your thing.

Heidi I wrote: "Shannen hurt my feelings too Peep *weep *weep*. Having said that, Traci knowing your tastes somewhat from these threads, I am guessing the Vampire Academy books are probably your thing."

You'll get over it. :P Gotta have a thick skin when you're a picky book person. Also gotta have a thick skin around here when you like Twilight. ;)

message 4288: by Gwennie (last edited Nov 18, 2010 08:43AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Well I guess cheesy is the wrong word. I love Stephanie Plum, lol. I guess I meant more like... a regular run of the mill cheesy romance like... Sioux Slave by Georgina Gentry . Which I actually read, lol. I loved this dumb romance when I was a teenager. I loved this one too, Savage Mists (Savage Secrets, #10) by Cassie Edwards . I had a thing for Native American romances, lol.

message 4289: by Heidi (last edited Nov 18, 2010 08:53AM) (new)

Heidi Oh, don't worry, I knew what you meant by cheesy Wendy and it is perhaps the cheesiest series I have ever read!

message 4290: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Oh lord! hahahaha... I'm sure I'll love it even if i have to keep it face down on my desk at work.

message 4291: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Wendy wrote: "Oh lord! hahahaha... I'm sure I'll love it even if i have to keep it face down on my desk at work."

Hold that head up high Wendy, just make sure to hide the book!

message 4292: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I'll get over what Shannen? Hardy har har :)

message 4293: by Jamie (new)

Jamie (bookworm20) | 67 comments I just finished Some Girls Bite (Chicagoland Vampires, #1) by Chloe Neill and really like it after getting by the first couple of chapters. I'm going to start on Prowlers by Christopher Golden next. Hopefully it gets delivered by the weekend or I'll probably start Ghost Town (The Morganville Vampires, #9) by Rachel Caine to hold me over until it IS delivered. :)

message 4294: by J.C. (new)

J.C. | 30 comments I have almost finished Hush Hush. It's a great read and am intrigued by Patch! Do you ever want to finish a book to find out what happens, but hate it when it's over? I'm still waiting for my next book (Stolen)to arrive so I can get straight into it, I hate not having anything to read!

They are definately cheesey, but I agree, in a good way. While I was reading the first book I kept thinking WTF??, it just throws you into the story. By the third book I read the rest of the series back to back. *Sigh* I have a small crush on John Matthews.

message 4300: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I am starting Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott .
