It looks like it is, but Amazon UK only has like 3 copies, so not sure what that is all about. This cover Finnikin of the Rock is actually the UK cover.

Rach (pagesofpiper) (piperbunny) Thanks guys... I try not to buy books as I work in a library but everyone seems to enjoy that one... might have to find a penny or two from somewhere ;)

Traci starting Jealousy (Strange Angels, #3) by Lilith Saintcrow today.. I'm really getting into this series, even though the writing is pretty bad :x

Traci, I use: http://www.lilithsaintcrow.com/forum/...
There were a lot of confusing parts to the book, you have to make assumptions as to what happens, they don't actually say a lot in black and white. It's Lili's forum for her books.

message 4009: by Kurukka (new)

Kurukka Oh Heidi, maybe you should try to read the Bartimeaus Trilogy instead of the audio ? I looooved the whole series (even thought the numerous footnotes can get really boring...), especially book three.

I haven't been reading a lot lately, I'm so exhausted these days, I feel like a grandma x_X but, anyway, I began The Body Finder. It's interesting and I was caught in it but the cheesy teenage blabbering from the main protagonist bores me to death so I admit I paused it. I also finished Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and will have to read the sequel, Trough the Looking-Glass but this morning, I received The Knife of Never Letting Go and I waited a damn long time to have this one in my hands so I think I'm gonna spend my full reading time on it. It's pretty cool so far. :P

J.C. | 30 comments Hi everyone, sorry I've been out of the loop for a while. I've just finished Finding Sky by Joss Stone, a nice read and have just ordered Hush Hush and Stolen, don't know which to start first? Has anyone read either? I'm just reading through topics and catching up.

message 4011: by Evelina C (new)

Evelina C (evelinaguekguezian) | 18 comments Finally reading A Northern Light. Next I'll start her new one: Revolution. Has anyone read it yet?

message 4012: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Evelina I haven't heard of those, sorry :(

Erin, I have Stolen here to read. It looks like it'll be good. Oh wait, maybe I have a different book with the word Stolen in the title? I'll have to check when I go upstairs.

message 4013: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Cecelia this time around I am able to pay more attention to The Amulet. I think the problem was I just finished Jellicoe Road, which I loved, and I felt depressed to start a new audiobook.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments It's really hard to read anything after Jellicoe Road.

message 4015: by Kurukka (new)

Kurukka Okayy, you'll let me know what you thought about it :)
Oh, I put Jellicoe Road on my tbr list, I heard it was really good.

Will do - same to you about Jellicoe Road (stick with it!)

message 4017: by Jim (last edited Oct 30, 2010 11:21AM) (new)

Jim | 1 comments Just finished Torment by Lauren Kate. The writing was much better than Fallen, and the author leaves plenty of plot points for the series to continue next summer. Overall, it was really quite good.

message 4018: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) I am just having a hard time getting into a book right now..I just feel blah when it comes to books which isn't me..I am trying to read Sisters Red but it just seems to be going so slow...I just wish I could find something that would grab me. :(

try Vampire academy or the mortal instruments... I really liked those series. Rose from VA is totally badass.

message 4022: by J.C. (new)

J.C. | 30 comments Has anyone read Dead Until Dark? It's the first of the True Blood series, my friend has given me all the books, but I don't know, started reading but can't quite get into it. Hey do any of you guys write YA? Evelina, the book Stolen, which I'm waiting for is written by Lucy Christopher. Can't wait til it arrives, hate not having a book that I want around to read!!!

♡Meme♡Reads love♡ | 68 comments I'm currently listening to Nightshade by Andrea Cremer I'm liking it so far. It's a lil bit slow but starting to pick up..

message 4024: by Rach (pagesofpiper) (last edited Oct 30, 2010 03:41PM) (new)

Rach (pagesofpiper) (piperbunny) I agree, Mortal Instruments is really good, quite good paced.

Erin wrote: "Has anyone read Dead Until Dark? It's the first of the True Blood series, my friend has given me all the books, but I don't know, started reading but can't quite get into it."

Yup, it's good, keep with it. Have you watched the show? Living Dead in Dallas was the book I couldn't get into, the second one. I will continue reading the series s I've bought all the books now :)

message 4025: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I read the first two Sookie books, but I did not really get into the series so I stopped.

message 4026: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I read Dead Until Dark. Actually, I've read the whole series. The writing isn't the best, not the worst either, but they are fun and quick reads. (I'm in love with Eric Northman which helps.)

message 4027: by Fairyinahobbithouse (new)

Fairyinahobbithouse | 10 comments I completely agree about being quick, easy reads. I also read all of the Sookie series for that reason. I love Eric, too. Right now, I'm reading Tithe. Anybody read it? Just finished Fat Vampire and Merger.

message 4028: by Laura (new)

Laura | 114 comments Emily, that's too bad about The Lost Saint. I frequently feel that way about sequels. For instance, I absolutely loved the feel of Shiver, but the sequel Linger, while still good, really wasn't the same for me.

On a side-note, that's funny that I happened to think of Shiver here, because it has a few remarkable (and I know purely coincidental) similarities to The Dark Divine.

message 4029: by J.C. (new)

J.C. | 30 comments Piper, I haven't seen the show (True Blood), and if I see the show I won't want to read the books, I prefer to read and then see the show/movie, but I'll try and stick with the book. I tend to agree, I like the first book of a series the best (normally, but can't say that for every series of books, I loved all of Twilight saga) like the Immortals series, Blue Moon was the best so far, I'm half way through the third, but haven't been able to pick it back up yet. I loved Shiver and Linger and look forward to the third book.
I currently have a work in progress at the moment where it's a male lead character, would you be more inclined to read a book in a male or female voice? Or does it come down to the story itself to intrigue you the most? I've just completed my first novel which is written in both lead character voices, which I really like as you get two different perspectives.

I read Tithe and really loved it. The fairy lore and Roiben are the best parts about it.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I read Tithe and thought it was okay. The main character kinda annoys me. She reminds me of a scene-kid who tries to hard. I liked the second one better because the MC was better.

message 4032: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Ya, the main character gets on the nerves occasionally, but she didn't bug me nearly as bad as one of the other characters (don't remember his name). Overall, the story was worth reading as it really is one of the best modern fairytales written to date when it comes to fairy lore.

message 4033: by Book (new)

Book (bloodwitch) | 90 comments Yeah, I liked the girl with the goblin better. Didn't particularly like those books overall, though.

Halfway into Beautiful Darkness (Caster Chronicles, #2) by Kami Garcia and just like BC I think it's the superior YA of those that came out around it (i.e.: Hush,Hush and Fallen)

I read the first two books before I'd seen the show, and I find they compliment each other quite well. I usually read the book before I see the show/movie. For example the Vampire Diaries tv show I watched first and its ruined the books for me, I read the first book and hated it.

As for points of view, it dosen't matter to me if it's male or female, it' more what happens during the story. Stephenie Meyer's new book Midnight Sun will be interesting to read. As long as the voices are distinct. Have you read Desperate Measures? There are twwo very distinct voices in this book which makes it really special. I hate when you have two points of view and you don't know who is speaking and have to go back to the start of the commentary and re-read.

message 4035: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I don't care if it's male or female either. It's the story, quality of the character telling the story, and distinctness of the voice(s) that matters. If you have a really great character, it doesn't matter to me whether it's male or female, they're going to tell a good story.

message 4036: by Fairyinahobbithouse (new)

Fairyinahobbithouse | 10 comments Finished Tithe and found it to be an easy little read. I liked Roiban quite a bit, but I always hate it when the guy falls in love with the girl and she just doesn't seem all that extraordinary. Does that make sense? I mean, Kaye is okay-- but she's not overly smart or funny or courageous... she's just unremarkable. So, why does Rioban like her so much? I also just finished Book 5 of the Blue Blood series... it was like coming home to well-known friends since I have been waiting a while for this book to come out. But, now it is over and I'm waiting again. Will probably read the second Tithe book next.

message 4037: by JennRenee (new)

JennRenee (jennreneeread) I just started Girl 15, Charming but Insane.

message 4038: by Kurukka (last edited Nov 01, 2010 03:55AM) (new)

Kurukka I don't care whether it's male or female either, but I'll admit that I rarely enjoy a female narration. I like boys better. :P Maybe because in most books I've read, the female voice is obsessed with her love interest and so whiny about it.

It only gets better Tracy! The end of Everwild had me almost screaming. You'll see what I mean. Such a good series. I can hardly wait for the last one to come out. June of next year!!!

Tracy T. I've always read a lot of books at once. I like variety, plus since I'm a fast reader, it makes the books last longer.
