Susan Stormi you will love it! It's a stand alone book which I like since I'm kind of burnt out on series right now!!

The third one was the reunion though!

Oh, I liked that one.

Now, I'm reading Book of a Thousand Days because of the recommendations (on the book) from this group...really liking it so far.

Tracy T. I read Another Faust (Another, #1) by Daniel Nayeri . The idea was very clever, but I don't think it was executed that well. If you do choose to read it, read the Wikipedia page on the Faust legend first. It may give away where the plot is going, but at least you know what's going on.

message 3755: by Heather (new)

Heather McCorkle (heathermccorkle) I just started reading BLOOD PROMISE #4 of the Vampire Academy series. I can't help it, I love that series!

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Amanda wrote: "o.k. so I guess I didn't realize how many Outlander books there are. Wow. Are they all as big as the first? Are they all as good?"

Most of the rest of the series are bigger. And actually most fans of the books say that the third one is the best one.

This is my all time favorite series, I read them over and over. I absolutely love them all, but some are more exciting then others. They're definitely not YA.

It was good, but even more macabre than the previous two. I think the suggested age 9+ is a tad low... haha

Just started The Lunatic's Curse by F.E. Higgins

message 3758: by Traci (new)

Traci Just started If I Stay (If I Stay, #1) by Gayle Forman . Not far enough to offer an opinion just yet..

The first half of the book was utterly boring for me. I struggled so hard to get through it. I even tried print AND audio and finally gave it up and skipped to the next book.

message 3760: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I loved that one. Not only the reunion, I loved reading about what was going on in that 20 year span of their lives. Especially everything that went on with Jamie.

It was my favorite after Outlander.

Alyssa (shyluck13) | 124 comments Just finished: Fire (The Seven Kingdoms, #2) by Kristin Cashore and Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater . Both were average, although I was disappointed in.
Currently reading: North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley I feel like crying, it's so beautiful. I didn't believe that every single review could rave, but I understand now, nearly complete, that this is why people read. This is what they look for in books.
TBR: Either Fang (Maximum Ride, #6) by James Patterson or whatever I pick up later from the bookstore.

message 3762: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Alyssa! I feel the same way about North of Beautiful. It really moved me.

Jessie (jessiebz) | 10 comments The Short Secind Life of Bree Tanner. Haven't started it yet, because i literally just finished Siren by Tricia Rayburn a couple of mins ago. Heard good things about this book, so natually I should be enjoying this. ::: cross fingers :::

Wasn't that the second book? The third is the daughter/ mother thing I thought. It's been awhile.

message 3769: by Becca (last edited Oct 10, 2010 08:52PM) (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Hahahaha! I must have punched through books one and two, one right after the other cause I forgot there was the whole "search for what happened" portion that was the entirety of book 2, not that I forgot any of it. Man alive! Book three was the best so far, which is probably why I was so terribly bored with BOOK 4. I never did get passed the first ten-ish chapters.

message 3770: by Annabel (new)

Annabel (boekenwormmom) I'm reading city of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Started Tithe because it was at the library (I know it was popular awhile ago)

hahahaha! Yeah, Book two was all about what happened. Book 3 was up there as one of my favorites. Book 4... the first third of the book spans one full day. It was so hard to get past, but after that some major things went down. (It was definitely the worst one in terms of dragging.)

message 3774: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (cattymccat) | 95 comments I'm reading I Am Legend by Richard Matheson; which is good. Nothing like the movie really, which I'm thankful for. Do all the stories in it relate to each other? I'm kind of confused on that. I'm also listening to Locked Inside by Nancy Werlin in the car & Uglies by Scott Westerfeld while doing stuff around the house. I'm such a nerd. XD Locked Inside is mediocre at best, but I really want to see what happens. And Uglies? AMAZING. I love it.

I Am Legend by Richard Matheson Locked Inside by Nancy Werlin Uglies (Uglies, #1) by Scott Westerfeld

Alyssa (shyluck13) | 124 comments Susan wrote: "I am now reading The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella by Stephenie Meyer and its a very quick read!!"
I used to big this massive fan of the Twilight saga, but when I read Bree Tanner, my love faded a bit. The novella just didn't do it for me.
I'm so stuck on what to read now that I'm done North of Beautiful. I know I said Fang...but I'm not exactly in the mood.

message 3777: by Susan (new)

Susan I loved North of Beautiful!!! Have you read Fallen by Lauren Kate yet? Or DUFF?? Have you tried the Dead series by Marlene Perez? The first book is Dead is the New Black! I enjoyed all those!!

message 3778: by Book (new)

Book (bloodwitch) | 90 comments More middlegrade, but I just finished Darkwood by M.E. Breen and really liked it. It was a bit confusing to start, though

Now I'll be into Carpe Corpus (The Morganville Vampires, #6) by Rachel Caine

Fallen by Lauren Kate - I refuse to read. I saw it in a bookstore, read the first few pages...and didn't think I'd like it (comparing it to other books like it)
DUFF is on my TBR list, but I've never heard of the Dead series. -goes to check it out now.
Good suggestions, thanks. Today's Canada's Thanksgiving so no bookstore-ing for me :(

message 3780: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I skipped Fallen as well Alyssa.

message 3781: by Book (new)

Book (bloodwitch) | 90 comments Fallen was interesting enough, but the writing left something to be desired. I'm intrigued enough to read the sequel, but if it's not an improvement I'll just cut my loses

message 3782: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (shyluck13) | 124 comments Fallen - Yeah, generally it was the writing that turned me away, paired with some disinterest of the plot. I liked Hush, Hush (also about fallen angels) so I might me missing out, but, oh well.

message 3783: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Oh if the writing was poor it is a good thing I skipped it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Fallen was mediocre, had lot of drawn out parts that didn't need to be there, and an extremely needy heroine to boot. I only decided to give book 2 a shot because the last few chapters actually showed promise. The book was about 2 stars until the end, which pulled my rating up to a 3.

At first I thought there was something wrong with me because everyone was LOVING the book, but eventually I started to find others that didn't get the hype either.

However, the follow up book Torment was pretty good. It was actually quite a bit better than Fallen, and because of it, I'll probably end up following the series.

I might chalk this series up to weak-first-book-syndrome.

message 3785: by Kara (new)

Kara (karasmannequin) | 1 comments Reading The Luxe and it's quite good so far, something different!

message 3786: by Book (new)

Book (bloodwitch) | 90 comments What jarred me the most with Fallen was that it read like a first person, yet was actually in third. I had to remind myself of this every few pages; it was horribly distracting. Mediocre is definitely fitting, and I gave it a 3 rating too I believe. I keep hearing that Torment is better, and I hope I feel the same haha
I actually found Hush, Hush to be mediocre as well but did prefer it somewhat. I also hope Crescendo is better than its predecessor

message 3787: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I found Hush Hush and Fallen to be mediocre but still liked them for what they were, Hush Hush more then Fallen. I'll read both of the sequels.

message 3788: by Traci (new)

Traci Just started Firelight (Firelight, #1) by Sophie Jordan and it hooked me within the first couple pages. I'm very excited about this book :)

But that is for tomorrow. Tonight I have to read Shakespeare's Richard III for class.

I picked up Torment, but realized that I don't really remember anything that happened in Fallen so I have to read a few summaries somewhere before I start it, because I don't really feel like rereading the whole book.

message 3789: by Book (new)

Book (bloodwitch) | 90 comments I'll be in the same boat for Torment ;)

And I want to read Firelight, and just put a request in at the library :P

message 3790: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Starting Torment tomorrow at work.

I'm not sure how it's going to complete with the awesomness that was The Hunger Games Trilogy

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Wendy wrote: "I found Hush Hush and Fallen to be mediocre but still liked them for what they were, Hush Hush more then Fallen. I'll read both of the sequels."

I couldn't get through Fallen. I wasn't a huge fan of Hush, Hush either. Actually there are quite a few books I've read lately that I've given 3 stars and it may have been a little generous, they all seem to be the same book. I felt like I read the same book over and over again, just different names, place settings and such. Hush, Hush, Fallen, Halo, Evermore, 13 to Life. And don't get me started on Evernight. I started reading more Adult fiction or getting recommendation of older books, I am having a heck of a time finding any new YA books worth reading lately. Firelight was better, and so was Shade. I'm reading Finnikin of the Rock and it's good.

message 3792: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I gave Hush, Hush and Fallen both 3 stars.

I'm excited to read Finnikin, but first I have to read Crescendo and Love and War because they belong to friends of mine and I need to give them back. I also have the The Bartimaeus Trilogy which I've heard alot of people rave about, so I have to decide which one to read first.

By Crescendo I actually meant Torment. Crescendo isn't out yet, and for some reason I constantly get these sequels mixed up.

message 3797: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I am super bummed since Saturday. I signed up for Audible and got two free audiobooks (thanks to my friend Peep) and bought another one. I got Soulless (The Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger , Under the Jolly Roger (Bloody Jack, #3) by L.A. Meyer , and On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta . The problem is that Audible is NOT compatable with my sony ericsson mp3 phone that I use for all my audiobooks, so I have to either download them all onto CD's, (costly as they are all long), or share my hubby's Ipod to listen to them, which is going to take forever as he uses it everyday. Bum bum bummer!

message 3798: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Heidi, you don't have a choice of audio format? Can't you download a free converter to get it on your phone? There must be some work around.

message 3799: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Peep wrote: "Heidi, you don't have a choice of audio format? Can't you download a free converter to get it on your phone? There must be some work around."

Audible protects all their files. I loaded them all into both itunes and in windows media player, but when I try to sync it to my phone it won't let me. It appears from my research on the internet that many other people have this issue unless they have an audible approved device. For now I am going to try listening to it in the car everyday with an ipod and an fm transmitter and giving my hubby the ipod at night. The problem is I picked 3 really long audiobooks! This is going to take awhile. :(

message 3800: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Saw this one, did you try this? I'm going to see if I can try anything with my files.

After downloading the audiobook using Audible’s software, this is what I’ve been doing:

Using Audacity – which is free for the FULL version, not a trail version, is small and unobtrusive – to import the files as ‘raw data.’

Once the file’s imported that way, I click ‘export’ and save it as an MP3.

Then I copy it over to my phone’s folder (with the phone connected to the computer, of course).

Both import and export takes from a few seconds up to 2 minutes, depending on how long the track is, and then copying takes another few seconds.

This way you don’t need to burn a disc, either a virtual image one or a real one. Just download with Audible, import then export with Audacity, and copy over.
