Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments So I went to the library & got Fire Study. I liked Poison Study & Magic Study & I know it's not suppose to be as good but what am I suppose to do? Just not know??

I got some other books but before getting into anything else I want to get this series done.

message 3702: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Stormi, I have an insane amount of books to read this month! I wonder if I can get 25 books read? I'm already behind with that goal.

message 3703: by Laura (new)

Laura | 114 comments Cassi-I think if you liked Magic Study, you'll also enjoy Fire Study. At least, I did. For me, the beginning of Fire Study dragged, but it eventually picked up. By the end, I was completely satisfied and was really glad that I finished it.

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments Finished Lover Avenged and have moved onto Lover Mine. I don't know what I'm going to do when I have to read a book not in this series, lol. This is my 7th book in a row in this series.

message 3707: by Tintin (last edited Oct 08, 2010 06:33AM) (new)

Tintin (marimorimo) | 40 comments I usually read a bunch of books simultaneously. Right now on my currently-reading list are:
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak - Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) by Cassandra Clare - Luna by Julie Anne Peters
And also on my lost-interest-but-will-continue-later list:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7) by J.K. Rowling and The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1) by Rick Riordan .

I started losing interest in Harry Potter's storyline from Book 4. JK Rowling could've made the story better if she chopped her ginormous books by half and employed an editor, IMO.

Percy Jackson was interesting, but the writing style was too jarring for me. Too many short sentences and paragraphs. I read Judy Blume's books for children, and I never felt like the writing was being dumbed down like in the Percy Jackson books!

message 3708: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) @Isamlq - yep, and I liked that one too.

@Lani - try the Psy-Changling series by Nalini Singh.

message 3709: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Finnikin is ordered and should arrive by the 14th (usually earlier since Amazon overshoots).

message 3710: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Happy Dance! Happy Dance!

message 3711: by Rosabelle (new)

Rosabelle Purnama | 23 comments I'm currently reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, #1) by Jeff Kinney by Jeff Kinney because I watched the movie and it was really funny..

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments My library doesn't have Finnikin but I may buy it this weekend since it seems to be a super fav of Peeps and she can be a tough judge.

I'm so jealous! I love the Drake Chronicles and cannot wait to read
Out for Blood!!!

Right now I'm listening to Dark Flame. Anyone else sick of Ever? I feel like she never learns and keeps making the same mistakes over and over! The series seems to be dragging on. Also, I really don't like the way the narrator does Haven's voice. It sounds like she's got a really bad head cold! Maybe it's just me...

I totally agree with you Heidi! Ever is such a pain! I really liked the first two books but after that it only went downhill.

message 3715: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah22) I just started Reckless by. Cornelia funke Reckless (Reckless Series, #1) by Cornelia Funke
And so far it's a really great read. I like it a lot better than the Inkspell books.

Glad I'm not alone! Nothing against Alyson Noel, it just could have been a trilogy! Has anyone read Radiance?

message 3717: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone has read The Mediator series by Meg Cabot. I got the first one Shadowland (The Mediator, #1) by Meg Cabot from the library and well I was just wondering if anyone liked it or not, debating on reading it the other book I was reading just isn't sucking me in right now.

Yeah, I read Radiance. I thought it was VERY juvinile compared to the Evermore series. It was a very short read and I was glad for it, it did nothing for me. I would recommend it for 10-12 year olds.

message 3722: by Amanda (last edited Oct 08, 2010 11:30AM) (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Oh crap. I just got my copy of Outlander from the library. Now I have to decide if I want to read Finnikin or Outlander first.....

Tintin, I second that! I read all the Potter books and wasn't taken. It's quite possible there's something seriously wrong with me, but her writing felt bloated. (Potter fans, don't hurt me!) And speaking of Percy, I had the same reaction. I couldn't get past the Potter parallels, which felt numerous. I'm told the series gets much better, but I don't know. I doubt I'll make the effort.

On another note, I'm halfway through The Adoration of Jenna Foxand loving it. I'm digging her voice and the plot is unfolding nicely.

Heidi (yabibliophile) (hmz1505) | 15 comments Tony wrote: On another note, I'm halfway through The Adoration of Jenna Fox and loving it. I'm digging her voice and the plot is unfolding nicely.

Jenna Fox is one of my all time favorite books! A group of my middle schoolers are reading it for literature circles and having great discussions about it.

Tony Bertauski (jadedreader) | 22 comments Victoria wrote: "Hi everyone - New to Goodreads and new to this group. I am currently reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and next up is The Amber Spyglass by Pullman."

Azkaban was my favorite. Harry's confrontation with Sirius was, in my troubled opinion, Rowling at her best.

message 3726: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Oh crap, now Peep and I can argue about which one you should read first.

OUTLANDER!!!!

message 3727: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (last edited Oct 08, 2010 01:44PM) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Not! Read Finnikin. Outlander is a commitment. 850 very, very long pages of detailed commitment. Just read Finnikin to get it the awesomeness out the way. You're welcome.

message 3728: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Outlander is definitely a commitment. A commitment that you should read first. Then when you are floating in a sea of emotion you can pick up Finnikin as the icing on the cake. :)

message 3729: by Laura (new)

Laura | 114 comments Just finished Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson and thought it was just okay. I think I'm one of the few who is not a fan of Laurie Halse Anderson.

Finnikin and Outlander are both checked out at my local library. :(

I just got this one in the mail today, so I can't wait to see if you like it!

message 3741: by Book (new)

Book (bloodwitch) | 90 comments So far it's a solid 'okay with good bits sprinkled in,' and it didn't really get into the full swing of things until I hit the hundred-page mark. The narration style has been a tough sell for me (too ordinary teen girl-ish, I'm not reading a diary so it jumps at me) but I'm enjoying it now and I may like it better by the end. If I had to rate it now, I'd say 3.5/5

message 3742: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I think I will read Finnikin first then and only because I read Before I Die last week and balled my effin' eyes out. I'm good on emotion for a while. I'm going to try to fit some reading in on the treadmill today, I'll keep u posted on Finnikin.

message 3743: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments o.k. so I guess I didn't realize how many Outlander books there are. Wow. Are they all as big as the first? Are they all as good?

message 3744: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Yes, they are all that big (or bigger) but I don't know if they're any good.

message 3745: by Becca (new)

message 3748: by Susan (new)

Susan I'm reading Caught by Harlan Coben and it's really really good! Keeping me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what's going on!!

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Just finished Saving Francesca by you guessed it MELINA MARCHETTA.

It's really really good, maybe not Jellicoe Road brilliant but well what is? Her books have a way of speaking to me and reading very genuine. They never strike me as preachy but I feel like I walk better for having read them. So yeah, go add this to your TBR pile too folks.

message 3750: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Amy, I have never heard of The Eyeball Collector, but it sounds interesting..can't wait to hear what you think of it.

Susan, Caught sounds very good! Its going in my TBR Pile. :)
