Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I just finished The Next Thing on My List. It was actually a lot better than I expected. It was my cozy read for the week, and I was suprised that it wasn't actually a romance novel. I was really pleasantly suprised as I was getting a little sick of mushy romance for a while. Great book, definately a recommendation. I am starting Bitter is the New Black : Confessions of a Condescending, Egomaniacal, Self-Centered Smartass, Or, Why You Should Never Carry A Prada Bag to the Unemployment Office, finishing Dark Lover and reading On the Jellicoe Road AGAIN. Friday the last of the Seer series, Magician's Muse comes out, so I am keeping my reading time open this week.

Ooh, The Harrowing sounds really good, just added it to my pile.

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I started Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon and am liking it - there were points in the begining that seemed slow to me and I found myself starting to skim and would go back and make sure I didn't miss something but I wish I would have paid a bit more attention to what Frank was saying - he was just so snooze worthy.

message 3604: by [deleted user] (new)

Im reading Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) by Cassandra Clare It was abit slow to begin with, but now im halfway and im really liking it

Frank is a snooze. You'll love Jaimie if you don't already.

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments Love Outlander! I am reading An Echo in the Bone now!

message 3607: by [deleted user] (new)

How naughty is Outlander? Is it like BDB naughty? Milder?

message 3608: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) It's not really a Romance in the normal term "Romance" there are some sexual parts that can get pretty in depth but it isn't like your normal romance. It's more of a Historical/Adventure/Drama/Romance, lol.

I love Jamie!!! And Frank is boring. Every time someone reads that book I want to reread mine all over again.

Laura, are you liking Echo? Alot of people had a hard time but I loved it.

message 3609: by Laura Beth (new)

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments I am enjoying it very much, but the hardcover is so big that I have a hard time holding it! I am anxiously waiting for my hubby to put it on his Kindle so I can finish it!

message 3610: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I have the hardcover and I had the same problem. A lot of people didn't like the additional story lines for Lord John Grey and William.

message 3611: by Laura Beth (new)

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments I do prefer reading about Jaime and Claire and Brianna, and her husband, Roger, but I have no problem reading about Lord John Grey and William. They are a part of the whole story...

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I just finished Jellicoe Road. Melina Marchetta is just brilliant isn't she? It's books like this that make me feel like I'll never really write anything....

In love with that book. I think I started putting the pieces together a little earlier than expected.

Listening to Death Masks by Jim Butcher and goign to start Magic Study even though all signs say I shouldn't.

message 3613: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Shannen wrote: "How naughty is Outlander? Is it like BDB naughty? Milder?"

So far it's almost naughty - meaning that when things start to heat up she kind of skips ahead to the pillow talk portion of the events. Still a little naughty but more read between the lines or fill in the blank naughty. Not like the detailed naughtiness of BDB.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I'm not a naughty person so it was plenty naugty for me.

Though I don't know if it made me blush quite like Soulless did when I was reading it.

Cassi wrote: "I just finished Jellicoe Road. Melina Marchetta is just brilliant isn't she? It's books like this that make me feel like I'll never really write anything....

I've had this on my TBR list for quite some time and I just re-read the summary. What exactly is it about? Is it one of those books where you can't really tell without giving it away?

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments There's a girl who was abandoned by her mother at a boarding school (that also has some kids sent their by the state) who discovers her past. There's territory wars with the Townies and a group of cadets that camps nearby. But really it's about Taylor learning about her family and their past.

I'm not sure if that explanation does it justice. Anyone got any help for me?

It's really really really brillaint.

Yeah it is getting a little more heated than before - Jamie was just warming up I guess.

message 3618: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Shannen wrote: "How naughty is Outlander? Is it like BDB naughty? Milder?"

I'd say yeah it's like BDB, but only when it happens. Most of the book is more than that though. There is so much going on. But Young Jamie is kind of umm, eager? I don't want to spoil it for you. I think it'd be a spoiler if I told you more.

Also, the ending is intense (I didn't like it at all).

Jellicoe Road is very, very good. It's hard because looking at the synopsis, it doesn't sound interesting, but it is. I just wrote a review on it if you want to read it. She's one of my favorite authors now.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments She's becoming one of my favorite authors after this and Finnikan. I need to read her other books like yesterday.

message 3620: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Peep, did you read any of the other Outlander books?

message 3621: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't want to bother with reading Outlander unless it is romantic and naughty. Hehe! Otherwise, I'll just read a BDB or Midnight Breed book. :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Isamlq wrote: "Stacia (ridiculously repetitive) wrote: "Dragonfly by Julia Golding"

how is it so far?"

I haven't been able to really sit down to read it so far, but it looks like it has potential. It looks like more of a traditional fantasy, which could be interesting.

I'm also reading Hunger (Horsemen of the Apocalypse, #1) by Jackie Morse Kessler (heard about it from this group actually).

@ Shannen,

Outlander is romantic and naughty, quite a bit so...but it's also very historical and lengthy, so the romantic and naughty parts are sandwiched in between a whole lot of story (which makes the love or hate aspect so prominent for this series).

I'm on the love side, but understand why someone would fall on the hate side.

message 3623: by Becky (new)

Becky (bookhoover) FINALLY got my hands on the library copy of MOCKINGJAY--I know I'm far behind this crew! I just finished VULTURE'S WAKE by Kirsty Murray--another futuristic post-apocalyptic sci-fi where the government is corrupt and the outlaws are scary. It's a world where all the females were supposedly killed by the avian flu, but a boy discovers a girl living in the desert. For you HUNGER GAMES fans, you might enjoy it. It's written as a stand-alone story, but leaves room for sequels.

message 3624: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) @Cassi - Yep, same here! I already have her other books requested from the library. Though, I do think these are her two best works.

@Wendy - Nope, I looked and didn't care for the storyline that would happen. Also, I was super mad at what happened at the end of Outlander.

@Shannen - You should try Outland and see how you like it. At least get to Scotland. Did you even try the Kate Daniels series, yet? They don't fit your criteria listed (haha) but they are good. Dare I say better than the Fever series. There! I said it!

@Stacia - Yep, liked Hunger. I'm going to finish Rage here soon.

message 3625: by Lori (new)

Lori (tyme2read) It's been a while since I have posted here. I had a great weekend for reading. My boys kept themselves occupied so I was able to read The Dark Divine and Forever both were bookclub choices. Now I am on to another bookclub choice Infinity

message 3626: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Ohhh, let me know how you like Infinity. I haven;t read her adult books, but I don't think her YA crossover worked. But that's just me...

message 3627: by Lori (new)

Lori (tyme2read) Will do Peep

message 3628: by [deleted user] (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Amy wrote: "Halo (Halo, #1) by Alexandra Adornetto blech..."

AGREED!! Thank you for pointing it out!

What is up with the names? Seriously, I think they are all supposed to be puns, but I thought it was tacky.
An angel named Bethany Rose Church. really...Church was her last name.
The tough team captain rugby player names Xavier Woods.
The demon named Jake Thorn.
I thought the story was about Bethany coming to earth on a mission, yet throughout the entire 496 pages they barely talk about what the mission is. Upon further reading I realized it is a love story. A mushy tacky love story.

message 3633: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I tend to judge books by their covers. I saw her wings and didn't think they'd ever support her in flight (must be cosmetic) so........

message 3634: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) I am just not into Angel stories.

message 3635: by Book (new)

Book (bloodwitch) | 90 comments I'm on page 60-something now, and it hasn't gotten any better

Peep: Yay Curran! I love him too :D

message 3636: by Traci (new)

Traci Just finished Dark Lover and I enjoyed it :) I'll probably read the others at some point in time but right now I have a lot of unread books on my shelf! I'm not sure if I'll continue with Percy Jackson next or pick up a new one. hmm.. The Lightning Thief is just a little too young for me I think. But I'll give it a couple more chapters.

♡Meme♡Reads love♡ | 68 comments I'm reading the 5th book Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, #5) by Richelle Mead
on page 289 getting really exciting, I keep biting my nails.

Becca | 1608 comments So just finished Book 2 in the Mistborn series The Well of Ascension. The protag is reminding me more and more of Katsa in Graceling. I love love love this series right now. It's incredibly unique in a lot of ways. It may make my top ten series list.

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Yet another Psy-Changling book. Yes, I am fully aware of my problem. I don't know what I'll read when this series is over. Suggestions?

message 3642: by Laura (new)

Laura | 114 comments Just started Need (Need, #1) by Carrie Jones . I'm only about 30 pages in, but it seems like a total Twilight rip-off. I think I'll stick with it a little longer, but if this doesn't pick up, I'm out.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Listening to Death Masks by Jim Butcher on audio. His audiobooks are reliably good so I'm happy. I've been in more of a writing than reading mood lately.

It doesn't, and the sequel is even worse

message 3645: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Shannen - def got steamier than prev post about almost naughty. I think you would like it but i am only a little over half way through according to my Kindle. It is long and very descriptive, which makes me glaze over just a tiny bit but a very good story so far.

message 3646: by [deleted user] (new)

Jaimie - I'm worried about the long, very descriptive part. I'm reading the 3rd BDB book right now.

message 3647: by Dija (new)

Dija Just finished reading Alpha (Shifters, #6) by Rachel Vincent and the ending was highly satisfying, but I'm still very sad that there won't be any more books. I still need more of Marc and Faythe!

Heidi (yabibliophile) (hmz1505) | 15 comments I'm listening to Infinity and reading The Demon's Covenant. Next on my list is either Clockwork Angel Torment or White Cat. Any recommendations for which to go with?

message 3649: by [deleted user] (new)

I just finished Clockwork Angel and really liked it. If you've read MI you will like that. Its abit slow in the start, but it does pick up

I think a support group is your best bet.
