I'm reading this one now, even though I read the first two and gave them two stars. I do like this one better.

It's good because he's so cold. He's a killer and she's so broken. Perfect recipe for a good romance - that is, if you like ones where the Hero is cold killer. But it's ok, he's not trying to embrace that part of him. So cold...
I am reading Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr. I am on page 1 at the moment but I have high expectations due to it following Wicked Lovely, which I loved.
Finished I Am the Messenger.. loved it loved it loved it.. and now I'm reading Smoke and Mirrors.. so far i think it's better than the first book
Currently reading
and it's proving to be much better than
. For one thing, Merit's becoming easier to stand, and for another, Ethan's ditched the stick up his ass, at least for a little while, and I'm definitely liking his attitude better now. This series isn't one of my favorites yet, but if this keeps up, it could definitely make it to the list by Hard Bitten.

Heidi I wrote: Yeah! So glad you liked I am the Messenger. Isn't the Doorman so cute :) I was so worried they were going to the Doorman was gonna die at the end of the book. (This is in no way a spoiler because the Doorman is just a dog and I get overly upset at the death of pets. My family has 6 dogs).

That's because it's not out in the US yet! It comes out sometime this fall/winter though. I'm not sure of the exact date.
Why does it take so long for books to be published in other countries?I'm of the opinion just give it to me now!
(I've never noticed this problem with Garth Nix books and he's Austraulian. I wonder what the difference is)
Yes. This series is either a love or hate deal. Personally, I've loved the ones I've read so far. The series starts out with a WWII era nurse traveling back in time to 1700's Scotland, where she is stuck having to marry a stubborn man a few years younger than her for her own protection. The books are long (some almost 1000 pages), and very steeped in historical detail. Some of it was very interesting to me (I loved reading about which herbs were used for medicinal purposes, as well as learning about how they lived day to day in that time period), and some of it wasn't (Higlander Clan lineage).
Being a fast reader, if something gets too heavy for me, I just skim a little bit.
The best part of the whole series - the part that keeps people coming back is the love story. The love story is one of the best of all time. It defies the element and boundaries of time. You will never forget Jamie and Claire.
Laura wrote: "So, it's definitely not YA, but has anyone read
? I'm thinking about giving the series a try."I too liked it...to a point. If you're a prude, like me, you may be a bit bothered by the sex scenes. Just a word of warning that they are definitely in there.
I liked Outlander too. I didn't try any of the others one, though I didn't mind the length at all. I haven't heard anything about the next book. I always wondered if I should try it.I agree with Becca that that may bother some. Also, there was another issue that made people love or hate it.
I've only read up through Voyager (book 3). Voyager was as good as Outlander to me because there was a moment that you had been waiting for to happen and it was very nice.Gabaldon doesn't write for the faint hearted, I will agree, but I like that she didn't waver on writing what was historically accurate for the time. There was a scene that had several "independent" type women seeing red, but in all reality, it was exactly what would have happened during that time period.
Sapphique (Incarceron #2) comes out late DecemberI'm about a quarter into
and I'm a bit disappointed with it really. But I like Jem, and it did seem to pick up once he was introduced..
Thanks for the Outlander opinions! I think I'll try it. (But I am a prude, so we'll see how that goes, haha.)

Oh, I totally forgot about that other issue people had with it, and I'm telling myself duh! right now. ha! So the other issue has to do with gay relations in that time period and there was one pretty dang graphic scene that disturbed me badly. I too have read through #3, but I got bored and moved onto something else.
I finally finished up
and really enjoyed the series. Now I'm not sure if I should take a little reading break, or start in on
? Especially before
comes out! (As usual, I've more books than I have time to read them)
I finally finished Bloody Jack and I really liked it. It was very different than I expected though. I will definitely read the next in the series sometime. I picked up my very first Sarah Dessen book today because I'm in the mood for a sappy romance story. I hope The Truth about Forever lives up to all the praise I hear about her.
ps. Is the rest of the Bloody Jack series as good? Are they worth a read? I did really like the first, but I have not heard very much about this series at all..
Someone loaned me Outlander. I enjoyed it well enough, but it was a little bit too much a romance (which well I don't read) but I like Scotland enough to put up with that. I never read the others because they were rather long. I've considered checking the audiobooks out from the library...any word on if they are any good?
Cassi wrote: "Someone loaned me Outlander. I enjoyed it well enough, but it was a little bit too much a romance (which well I don't read) but I like Scotland enough to put up with that. Im with the latter :) Don't bother with the audio books unless you have a hard time getting to sleep.. in which case, Outlander is better than any OTC sleep aid out there.

All her other titles were good too, but I hated how all the characters in all her novels were exactly alike except for minor changes.
LOL. You see I must be the exception to the rules because I don't love them but I don't hate them. I'm not a romance person (you'll see I read mainly YA fantasy/scifi.) I enjoy relationships within stories (ie. Hunger Gamse, Tamora Pierce) when they are the centerpiece of the story. I visited Scotland in highschool (on a Europe trip only for a couple days) and absolutely loved it. So I think thats why I liked Outlander when it's totally not my type of book.

Maybe I'm missing something if there are tons of Ol lovers out there:)
Becca wrote: "Oh, I totally forgot about that other issue people had with it, and I'm telling myself duh! right now. ha! ..."I don't remember that, hahaha. I was talking about the marriage issue.
CASSI: You didn't miss anything!
BLUEMOON: Inside Out gets better, keep reading.
You see to be honest I'm not sure I remember. I liked the whole Scottish setting & culture (and hearing the Scottish accents in my head...I blame Sean Biggerstaff from the HP movies for this).Um....it's been like a year since I've read it and I read it while babysitting a little girl (she would sleep on my chest and I would read).

yes... he is soo cute... i love the coffeeholic dog :) at first i actually thought that The Doorman can talk :)

Cassi you don't get much Scotland after the first one and a half really, so if that's what you're going back for you won't find much of it with the one exception of Jaimie.
Hello, my name is Lloyd and I am a reading addict. My foolish thought of taking a little reading break only lasted overnight. I officially started The Red Pyramid on the bus ride to work. Riordan is just a lot of fun to read. Grabbed me right from the start. Question is...will I finish this book in time for the next Olympians novel? Probably not, but at least I'll have another Riordan book to jump into when I do!
So everyone I have a confession. I listen to bagpipe music on my ipod on my walks in the park. You think I'm kidding about liking about Scotland a lot...but I'm not. (I partially do this b/c I feel like I can still hear any potential dangers but I do find it relaxing & atmospheric).
I just started Firelight by Sophie Jordan. The opening sure is exciting! Anyone else reading this? Like, not like?
I purchased Firelight for my Nook because I have 2 different groups that I need to read it for in October. Haven't gotten to it yet.Cool cover though.
