Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) YA : Gone (Gone, #1) by Michael Grant re-reading so I can buddy read the rest of the series that I haven't gotten to yet.

Adult : Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost Liking the tone of this book. It's dark and fun at the same time.

I've read Along for the Ride! By the end of the story I was half in love with Eli myself!

message 3103: by Traci (new)

Traci Finished Jellicoe Road last night, and while it was really strange and hard to get into in the beginning, I'm very glad I stuck with it. It was a good read :)

I picked up Clockwork Angel this morning but I haven't had a chance to really start it yet.. I'm very excited about it though.

message 3104: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Tracie,I am about 125 pages into Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) by Cassandra Clare and so far its not to bad, its different, then again I haven't read The Mortal Insturment series so this is my first Cassie Clare novel. :)

message 3105: by Crystal (new)

Crystal Jewell Killeen (ckilleen24) | 40 comments I'm reading City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3) by Cassandra Clare right now. Then I can't decide if I want to read Eyes Like Stars (Théâtre Illuminata, #1) by Lisa Mantchev , Storm Glass (Glass, #1) by Maria V. Snyder , or Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters, #1) by Juliet Marillier .

message 3106: by Lori (new)

Lori (tyme2read) This having to share a book thing with my husband is really slowing me down with Mockingjay. But in a way I dont' mind, I am savoring this book, lol. I did pick up Clockwork Angel today so I will be reading that one shortly.

Daughter of the Forest! Then you'll read everything else written by her. Such a good book!

message 3109: by Crystal (new)

Crystal Jewell Killeen (ckilleen24) | 40 comments Thanks Becca! I think I will take your advise... I just couldn't decide between the three! :-)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Neal Shusterman's Unwindis on my favorite books list. I highly recommend it!!!!!
Before I Fall is another book I loved.
I purchased Clockwork Angel today, I am hopeing to get to it soon.

message 3111: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Just finished The Iron Daughter (Iron Fey, #2) by Julie Kagawa which I absolutely loved! This is such a great spin on fey lore that it makes me giddy to read it. Plus the love story is fabulous. I swoon for Ash!

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments Stormi wrote: "Lani,

No I haven't and trying to read Forget You makes me not so sure that I want too...if I did what do you recommend?"

Stormi and Amanda-
If you're going to read a Jennifer Echols novel I suggest Going Too Far. It's one of my favorite books. Keep in mind I don't anaylze stories or try to garner anything from them. I read purely to be entertained. It takes a lot to take me out of a story or turn me off to a character (I'm pretty forgiving).

message 3113: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Anyone read Stormbreaker by Anothony Horowitz. I just got it from the library and I'm going to crack it open later tonight.
I am also trying to get to Clockwork Angel by CAssandra Clare and Birthmarked by Caragh O'Brien this week. I have a feeling it's gonna take me almost a week to get through Clockwork Angel, so it's on the back burner right now.

Heather | 6 comments Can someone suggest a good series for me to read? I have read the following series' and books..

The Twilight Saga
The Host
The Immortals Series
The Vampire Academy Series
The Hunger Games Series
The Dark Powers Series (The Summoning..)

message 3115: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Heather have you read Shiver?

message 3116: by [deleted user] (new)

Heather - I would suggest City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare or Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater . :)

message 3117: by Heather (new)

Heather | 6 comments Thank you!

message 3118: by Heather (new)

Heather | 6 comments No I have not read either of those! They look great, thank you! I am considering reading the House of Night series as well, has anyone read that? Recommend it or no?

Heather the Hunger Games series is another that was terrific. I wasn't sure if I would like it because I like many of the series you mentioned but I enjoyed it immensely.

House of Night series is pretty good. The first couple of books are good, and book #7 is really good, I think #5 and #6 were the two that got a little boring, but I am waiting for the next to come out.

Try The Seer series, the first book is Don't Die, Dragonfly by Linda Joy Singleton, or Blue is for Nightmares series, Blue Is For Nightmares is good too.
If you don't mind swearing in your books, try Strange Angels series by Lili St. Crow. It is my favorite series.

Unwind by Neal Shusterman is sort of along the same lines as The Hunger games, a sci-fi-ish book. It is one of my fav's also.
Shade is another good book, but it's the first in the series and just relased.
Or try 13 to Life, also the first in a new series.

Wow, I completely missed this comment somehow! I was wondering what you thought about Glimpse. Glad you liked it! I'm veeery interested to see how you feel about Mockingjay book twin. LoL

message 3122: by [deleted user] (new)

Heather - I read the first several books of the HON series but I refuse to read anymore. It has dragged on for too long and there are too many other great books out there. Based on the series you mentioned, you should really like City of Bones and Shiver.

Kourtni - My hubby needs to get a move on! I am going to start it after I finish Twenty Boy Summer, whether he is finished or not. ;)

message 3123: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Sep 01, 2010 02:44PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Both City of Bones and Shiver are better than House of Night. HoN is something that many of us only read now because we're already invested in the series, and not because it's on our favorites list. I consider it more of a guilty pleasure than anything.

message 3124: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Shannen you are so nice to let your hubby have it first! I might not have been so gracious.

message 3125: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Sep 01, 2010 01:18PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Me either (or would that be neither)!

message 3126: by [deleted user] (new)

Kourtni - We were going on vacation and I had a book to read and he didn't. Little did I know that I would finish my book before he was even 1/3 of the way through Mockingjay.

message 3127: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Oh. Yeah, you should probably just take it from him if he doesn't finish soon. LoL

message 3128: by [deleted user] (new)

He is reading it on the Kindle app on his phone but if I start reading it, I don't think it will save my place. We'll see what happens. Gracious or stupid? Hmmmm... LOL!

message 3129: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Hahaha Oh no! Darn that Kindle!

Heather | 6 comments lol- ya ive read the hunger games, loved them all!

have you all read the vampire academy series ? I think its my fav one of them all!! I just LOVE Dimitri!!

message 3133: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (mkirias) Heidi I wrote: "Um... I think Heather already mentioned she read Hunger Games. Just wanted to point that out. Sorry!"

Sorry I missed that post guess I should read some of the prior entries before I respond.

The other series, and I only read back to page 65 so I apologize Heather if you have read it, but
Life As We Knew It is an excellent series. The first one is a girl in PA, 2nd about a boy in NY, and the third which I am reading about now is where they both end up meeting. The 39 Clue series is pretty good; as is Rick Riordans book:The Red Pyramid|7090447]
Also, if you want some quick reads the Jessica Darling Series by Megan McCafferty is pretty good.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Garth Nix's Abhorsen trilogy is one of my favorites. I suggest it to anyone.

I'm starting Nobody's Princess, mainly cause I want something different from all the dystopian I'm reading.

message 3135: by Michael (new)

Michael | 5 comments hunger games or herry potter, which to start first?

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Hunger Games is quicker so you'll feel gratified sooner.

message 3137: by Heather (new)

Heather | 6 comments great suggestions guys! i have a huge list now! i better get to reading! haha!!

message 3138: by Lori (new)

Lori (tyme2read) Heather another good series is
Blue Bloods I also second the City of Bones

message 3139: by Amanda (last edited Sep 01, 2010 05:16PM) (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I tried to start Birthmarked and Stormbreaker and just can't get into either of them. I think they are going back to the library. Any other suggestions?
I'm having a bad luck streak.

message 3140: by Lori (new)

Lori (tyme2read) Amanda,I am sad to hear that about birthmark, it is on my tbr list and was looking intresting lately

message 3141: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments It wasn't necessarily BAD, I just wasn't feeling it today. I am going to try again in a few days. I think I am in a book funk. Everything I pick up seems to suck. I even tried to read Clockwork Angel and shut the book after chapter one. Mockingjay really did me in and I think I'm going ot have to read the 'effin book again just to get over it.

message 3142: by Traci (new)

Traci Amanda- That happens to me sometimes, too! When I read certain books it takes forever to get them out of my head and then there's no way that I can try to get absorbed in a new world. It sucks, but what can you do?

I liked Nobody's Princess Cassi, although it's a bit on the MG side of YA just as a warning. I thought it would be a bit more grown up, but it isn't.

message 3144: by Book (new)

Book (bloodwitch) | 90 comments I couldn't stand Nobody's Princess! lol

Still reading Un Lun Dun by China Miéville
and reading The Skyborn by Paul Collins

message 3145: by Lani (new)

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments I've finally picked up Fire. I really liked Graceling and heard Fire wasn't as good. I'm a romance fan and heard Fire is full of it, so I have high hopes.

message 3146: by Lori (new)

Lori (tyme2read) Amanda, I have been like that since reading Sarah's Key. The books have been ok but I can't get into them the way I usually do. Mockingjay is bring me out of that slump though. I hope you find something soon to get you going again.

message 3147: by Susan (new)

Susan I just got Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. I was at the library picking up the new Danielle Steel and the librarian held it up and said it was for me and I'm not embarrassed to tell you, I screamed! Everyone stared at me of course but I've been waiting forever to read the final in the trilogy!!!

message 3148: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I was like that when I got my copy at B&N. I was all giddy and the guy who checked me out probably thought I was on drugs.

message 3149: by Susan (new)

Susan Hahaha Amanda that's sooo funny!!! Did you skip all the way home??? LOL

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I'm okay with middlegrade. Earlier this year I read a really fun middle grade novel. Sometimes I feel like I just don't know the genre very well at all.

And MG might work for me coming off of dystopians (and before reading Blameless by Gail Carriger - my bookstore didn't have it for the release day so I had to order it!!)
