After the second book, the series went downhill for me :(. I thought Fourth Comings was ok, but I couldn't even finish Perfect Fifths.

message 3053: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (shyluck13) | 124 comments I'm reading Broken (Women of the Otherworld, #6) by Kelley Armstrong and then Wondrous Strange (Wondrous Strange, #1) by Lesley Livingston .

message 3054: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Shiver is one of those books categoried into either you love it or you despise it. I loved it. I cried, it was so sad and happy, the ending is a huge cliff hanger, so make sure to read Linger which is the next in the series.

message 3055: by Crystal (new)

Crystal Jewell Killeen (ckilleen24) | 40 comments Have any of you read Angel Star (Angel Star, #1) by Jennifer Murgia ? I really want to read it but it isn't available at my library. I was just wondering if it is worth buying!

message 3062: by Amanda (last edited Aug 29, 2010 07:16AM) (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Traci, Jellicoe Road is one of my favorite books! I don't know if anyone has warned you yet, but it's really confusing through the first 135 pages, then it all starts to make sense. Then when you've finished the book, you have to go back and reread the begining! Just make it through those first 135 pages!!! It a heartwarming yet tragic story and a mystery too. I bought it and read it ever few weeks.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I'm reading Split and so far its good.

I just read Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta by the same author and loved it! What a great story that was! I tried Jellicoe Road a few months ago but never finished it. I'm thinking now I might pick it up from the library.

I just finished it last night and breezed right through it. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

message 3066: by Janina (new)

Janina | 3 comments At the moment I'm reading the third book of the Evermore series Shadowland (The Immortals, #3) by Alyson Noel . I'm still at the beginning and I'm already shure that it's not going to be one of the best books I read lately. Ever's behaviour isn't really nice, she seems to be a different person, which I think is confusing.

message 3067: by Lori (new)

Lori (tyme2read) Janina, I started reading Shadowland (The Immortals, #3) by Alyson Noel the week it came out. I didn't get far into it and out it down to read another new release and have yet to pick it back up. Hopefully you'll be able to convince me to restart it again after ou have finsihed it.

I'm very glad you warned me, because I'm only about 30 pages in but I think I'm lost already! hahaha.. I'll stick it out though. I've heard good things and I'm excited to see how it comes together :)

message 3069: by [deleted user] (new)

Just got back from vacation and finished Glimpse (Zellie Wells, #1) by Stacey Wallace Benefiel which I really liked. (Thanks, Kourtni! We're still book twins!)

I let my hubby read Mockingjay first and he is taking forever! Grrrr!

Now I'm reading Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler .

I read it and don't think it's worth it. IMO Ever hasn't matured one lick from the first book and nothing really seems to happen in Shadowland. I unfortunately wasted money on the books, but I won't be making that mistake. I don't think I'm even going to pick up the fourth book.

BTW-I'm over halfway through Mockingjay (Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins and loving it! Can't wait to get to the end!!!

How are you liking it? I have it on my TBR pile, but haven't gotten around to it yet."

Bluemoon, it's definitely geared more for the MG crowd than straight up YA. I'm enjoying it -- a breezy quick read-- but the story is developing rather slowly.

message 3072: by Lori (new)

Lori (tyme2read) Shannen, My husband is few chapters behind me in Mockingjay but he reads it in the morning before I get up. He wanted something to take to work today so I sent him with City of Bones. He loes the TV show Supernatural so I thought he might like that sereies.

message 3073: by Lori (last edited Aug 30, 2010 07:27AM) (new)

Lori (tyme2read) Lani, thank you for letting me know aboutShadowland. I think I might just take the 3 I have into the used bookstore and use the credit towards something else that I WILL like.

Sorry, about only using everyones names, I don't know how to do the Qoute thing.

message 3074: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I started to hear so much about The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins, that I picked it up and read it in two days. It was tough to put down. I'm about to start the second, Catching Fire. Can't wait! FYI - the audio version of Hunger Games is horrible. The actor's voice is so irritating that it just wrecks the story.

message 3075: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

I found it a little boring, too. It has its moments, but overall I was disappointed. I reviewed it and gave it 3 stars, but now I think I might've been too generous.

Totally agree about the Hunger Games audiobook narrator - terrible!

message 3079: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I am reading Mockingjay (Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins and listening to Honey, Baby, Sweetheart by Deb Caletti .

message 3080: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Janina, the Evermore series was o.k. for me. It was interesting emough to keep reading it, but it isn't one of my favorites. I think Ever just gets more and more superficial throughout the series. ugh.
Rosabell, I really loved the Dark Powers triology, The Summoning, The Awakening and The Reckoning. I ended up buying them because I wanted to keep re-reading them.

message 3081: by Lani (new)

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments Finished Mockingjay (Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins and am still digesting it. I'm moving on to Forget You by Jennifer Echols , hopefully a nice light romance with well developed characters (as has been my experience with other Echols books)

message 3083: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Lani, I read Forget You last week and I just want to mention that is it may not be worth your time. I was really excited to read it and it's was a total dud for me. If you are looking for a similar book try Along for the Ride by Sara Dessen. It is a good book, quite similar to Forget You, but MUCH MUCH better.
Here is my review on Forget you: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/71...

Michelle (mkirias) I'm going to be starting the This World We Live In... I can't wait till Mockingjay comes in! I had pre-ordered it with another pre-order from amazon, and now I'm waiting... should be here soon.

message 3085: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

I know.. I'm only about halfway through, but not because I find it boring, but because I'm very busy at work this week.. It's interesting.. I bought this at the airport last week while traveling and it was just a spontaneous buy.. and like the comment made at the back of the book, "you'll be desperate for a sequel".. I think I might go hunting for the sequel at the bookstores soon :)

I totally agree, I purchased the Hunger Games on audio at Half Priced Books and the lady's voice pretty much ruins the audio book.

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Has anyone here read Clockwork Angel yet? If so do you think because I have never read The Mortal Instrument series that I might find this one a bit confusing or is it entirely a different world? I have already found a reference to The Mortal Instruments that is why I am wondering..I haven't really found it confusing but I am only 100 pages in..just curioius. :) I have heard a lot of people speak of it as a continuation.

I have not read any other Jennifer Echols books. I have 2 on my to-read shelf, I do want to give the author another try. It wasn't the writing style that turned me off. I felt the plot was pretty thin and some parts of the book seemed to be thrown in and didn't really have anything to do with the rest of the book. The book ended and I just felt like I wasted 4 hours reading about a story that never concluded. I think I physically said "UGH" after I read it. What books of hers do you recommend to read?

message 3095: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Stormi wrote: "Has anyone here read Clockwork Angel yet? If so do you think because I have never read The Mortal Instrument series that I might find this one a bit confusing or is it entirely a different world? I..."

According to the author you do not have to read The Mortal Insturments first. Also, I felt The Mortal Insturments series was confusing at first. They pretty much throw you into the story and then explain things as they come up. The Clockwork Angel is supposed to be the same 'world' as you put it, but a different time. I think The Mortal Insturment series is set in like 2007 and the Infernal Devices series in set in the 1800's, so it is like a prequel. I loved The Mortal Insturments series! It's one of my favorites and I plan on purchasing The Clockwork Angel this week and reading it. Let me know what you think.

message 3096: by Misty (new)

Misty (mistella) Currently reading Catching Fire (Suzanne Collins). This is second time reading this, wanted to refresh myself on this series before I read Mockingjay and I'm really glad I did. I either forgot quite a bit from these two the first time around, or I am getting more from them this time. Absolutely love these books, hoping to knock this one out tonight so I can get started on Mockingjay. Yay!

Laura | 114 comments Just started Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver and am finding it pretty good so far.

I'm also planning on reading Mockingjay (Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins this weekend. I'm not looking forward to it quite as much as I had been since so many people on here are saying it's a downer! It's probably good that I've lowered my expectations a bit, though.
