Alyssa (shyluck13) | 124 comments Mockingjay (Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins ....I am also staying off the site until I'm finished because I won't stand for spoilers. I'm already crying (I'm halfway through the book) and I'm being extremelly careful not to read any posts of Updates from friends...IT'S REALLY GOOD SO FAR!

Lisa (lissarbry) | 16 comments I am curently reading Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers. It is an ARC that I picked up at the American Library Assoc. convention. I am quite enjoying it.

Lori (tyme2read) YAY!! Got into town today to pick up Mockingjay. Thankfully my father watched the boys so I could go in with Mom. I even brought him home a cholocate bar for babysitting, lol.

The best is that My husband just called and asked if I got it, I said of cousre. Then he asked what I was reading next becuase I finished Sisters Redthis morning. I told him Mockingjay of course!. I think he was hoping I was in the middle of another book so he could read it first. HA HA, I don't think so.

My copy is still enroute, but it is one state away now so probably tomorrow or Friday at the latest.

message 3007: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Emily I have been avoiding the Hunger Games thread on here since yesterday, but now I almost wonder if I should avoid this group until I read it!

message 3008: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Katniss has certainly changed. I'm going to skip to another book and come back to this one later.

I really want to know what you think Heidi I (even if you did like the second book!)

message 3009: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Don't worry Heidi, I'll keep my ranting and raving in the spoiler zone. I even remembered to click the thing on my review that warned you.

message 3010: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Just finished Second Helpings (Jessica Darling, #2) by Megan McCafferty . Once again I am loving the witty snarky-ness of Jessica Darling. She so dang funny but real at the same time. I'm on to Charmed Thirds (Jessica Darling, #3) by Megan McCafferty .

message 3011: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (vonnie20) Just started Blue is for Nightmares Collection by Laurie Faria Stolarz. Liking it so far, it's really interesting.

Becca, I loved that series! There's just something about Marcus Flutie...lol

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Who had time to update their status while reading Mockingjay? I just kept reading.

Then again my Internet at home has entirely stopped functioning. Good for reading/writing bad for other things.

message 3015: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (shyluck13) | 124 comments Mockingjay (Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins was fantastic! I won't spoil but...I'm really happy with the ending!
I'm still recovering and am trying to find a happier book because, I don't know if it was just me but Mockingjay was a lot more depressing and dark (which I LOVE) then the other 2. I was going to read Broken (Women of the Otherworld, #6) by Kelley Armstrong but...I might start rereading something more happy like... Teen Idol by Meg Cabot

message 3016: by Crystal (new)

Crystal Jewell Killeen (ckilleen24) | 40 comments Finishing City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2) by Cassandra Clare today. Then onto Bloodfever (Fever, #2) by Karen Marie Moning :-)

message 3017: by Jenna (new)

Jenna (pocketmermaid) | 38 comments I'm reading Going Bovine. I started it last year when it came out, and then I had to shelve it so I could focus on school. I finally got in the mood to pick it up again, and I'm trying to race to finish before school starts again on Monday!

I'm also listening to Prophecy of the Sisters on audio, but it's pretty slow-going. It's enough to keep me interested, but I keep waiting for the pace to pick up!

message 3018: by Traci (new)

Traci I think I'm going to start North of Beautiful.. but my head is still all full of Mockingjay stuff so we'll see. Part of me really wants to reread it slower to see if I missed any little things..

message 3022: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Here I am again with no book to read on my lunch break because I figured Mockingjay would surely be on my doorstep last night, bright and pretty and new and ready for me to turn the pages!! But NO. There was no book waiting for me when I got home. Only dissapointment and accounting homework. Okay the theatrics are over! I'm just so bored without a book to read on my lunch break!!

Heidi I hope our books arrive soon so we can join the spoiler talk and gossip. Tonight would great. :)

message 3023: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Me too Kournti, still no word on my end!

message 3024: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Oh you poor poor girls. I'm so glad I didn't pre-order mine. I'm crossing my fingers for you both and anyone else who hasn't gotten theirs yet.

message 3025: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Thanks Becca, I'm likely to have a conniption fit if I get home tonight and it's not there. Pre-ordering books is great unless you are very impatient and reeeally want it the day it comes out. I underestimated how much I wanted it.

message 3026: by ♡Meme♡Reads love♡ (last edited Aug 26, 2010 01:50PM) (new)

♡Meme♡Reads love♡ | 68 comments I'm excited to be going to the library they just sent me an email letting me know the 2nd book to the series The Mortal Instruments City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2) by Cassandra Clare is in. Can't wait to start reading. :)

message 3027: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Amazon was great with my pre-order. (sorry, totally not rubbing it in). I think I saw that some people got theirs early. Mine came on the release day.

Did you guys pre-order from Borders (note to avoid ordering from them in the future).

Heard there was 1.5 million print run on MJ, which is pretty huge. But nothing compared to the Wimpy kid book - 5 million!

message 3028: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I just finished Mockingjay and it was awesome. I cried happy and sad tears.
Next I am starting the Fever series wiht darkfever by Karen Marie Moning

message 3029: by Eimy (new)

Eimy (eimysaurus) I'm so jealous everyone's already got (or is getting) their copy of MockingJay!!! I have to wait a couple more weeks because I live in Tokyo. Books and movies take longer to get over here!

In the meantime I've decided to re-read Hunger Games and Catching Fire so everything will be fresh in my mind for MockingJay.

I've also started reading Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Mariller. Great stuff so far!!

message 3030: by Linda (new)

Linda (lindajoysingleton) | 41 comments I ordered from Amazon, combining MOCKINGJAY with an order so it went the free shipping, which is why I think my book (it's Friday) still hasn't arrived. I bought a 2nd copy at an independent store (got to support independents when possible!) and finished it last night. Wow! Still recovering...happy with ending.

message 3031: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lissarbry) | 16 comments I totally agree with supporting the independent bookstores, Linda. They seem to be the bookstores that work so hard to get authors in for signings and such. I try to buy from them periodically as well.

message 3032: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Peep- I pre-ordered with Barnes and Noble. I got a membership as a gift for christmas so I get free shipping and express shipping(1-3 days). Otherwise I think I would go with Amazon, they have never failed me. B&N shipped it on the 23rd and I got it yesterday. It would be lovely to get it on day 1 of the 1-3 days but that probably will never happen! Oh well! I have it now.

Heidi Peep wrote: "Amazon was great with my pre-order. (sorry, totally not rubbing it in). I think I saw that some people got theirs early. Mine came on the release day.

Peep I pre-ordered mine from Borders for store pick up. I must point out that I should have waited until the release date to do so instead of ordering earlier, as normally Borders is wonderful to deal with. I generally check my local store stock online and if they have a copy I buy it online and pick it up at the front desk, but since it was so cheap to pre-order that is what I did. Next time I will just wait until the release date online and order my normal way. Per my latest email, my copy will not be at the store until 08/31. Oh well, I have to finish the 5th BDB book anyway!

message 3034: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Oh wow Heidi, the 31st? That just sucks! Boo! Hiss!

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments That's horrid! I just called Books-A-Million and asked if they were going to have them on the release day. They said they ALREADY had them in the back and would hold a copy for me at the front of the store. I was surprised how simple that was.

message 3036: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Heidi I preordered from Borders too because of the price - normally they have more than enough in stock but how can you pass up %53 off? But thenI go to the store and they are like well we haven't picked up our mail yet but there are lots of copies overthere. I got my stank eye going because there was no way I was letting them sell me the book for their regular 20% off and then the lady finally got why I was upset and was like "oh didn't you see we sent out a 50% off coupon for Mockingjay this morning?" So in the end I got screwed out of 3% but I was okay with that.

message 3037: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I'm sorry ladies! Heidi, if I thought you'd get it sooner I would mail you my copy!

That's rally annoying how they're doing that. Do they realize what the point of a pre-order is? Ummm, you want to be the first to get to something (and save some dough, too). Amazon's was $8.45 but it sounds like if you didn't have premium shipping, you didn't get it on the release day.

message 3038: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I pre-ordered mine from the Barnes and Noble store locally and picked it up. I've been burned before from ordering it online.

message 3039: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Live and learn ladies. Live and learn. I am cool with waiting. I have other books to read :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I want to get my copy in the mail just so I don't have to fight as hard not to click on spoiler threads. I tend to click on threads that have the word (new) next to them out of habit.

B&N will never get pre-order business from me again, unless I'm choosing to get something for my Nook instead of in hardback. At least then you can download the book right away.

message 3041: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments well I had put myself on buying restriction since I am waiting on my kindle so I just about lost it. The ladies in Borders will never look at me the same way. I don't get why there inventories are not connected. To me it would seem that borders.com would just say "oh why don't you just put aside one of the 50 books we sent you under this name because they already paid for it." Wouldn't it save in shipping costs?

I love love love that whole series and everything else written by that author Eimy! I hope you enjoy it.

message 3043: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments And just finished Charmed Thirds (Jessica Darling, #3) by Megan McCafferty which I didn't like as much as the second one, but it was interesting. Enough so that I'll continue the series, but not right now. I think I'm going to try The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson .

message 3044: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Becca I loved the Jessica Darling series - Marcus Flutie sigh. I also loved loved The sky is everywhere so happy reading! Oh and Perfect Fifths is totally awesome enough to make up for any dissapointment in charmed thirds.

message 3045: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments lol! thanks for the heads up. I think thirds just had me depressed because she was so on a "death is inevitable" roll through like half the book. And she was depressed. And Marcus wasn't there even though she was still obsessing with him. I think I need to read about something other than angst to really appreciate it when I come back to it, cause I love her snarky, honest, blind self.

message 3046: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lissarbry) | 16 comments I just finished up Personal Demons, great book!! i am now starting Shiver. I keep saying I am going to read an "adult" mystery but I keep coming back to YA lit. It is far more entertaining!!

Stick with it after you take a break. There are only five books, and they are all worth reading. The problem is she peaked at book two. Everyone LOVES book two. You. Yes, you.

Borders.com should contact local stores and just have them hold the copies in the store. That is what I thought they would do, but I guess I was wrong.

message 3049: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments I just finished up The Hunger Games (Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins and am going to start Catching Fire (Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins . It's a busy weekend, however (my son has his 4th birthday party!), so I probably won't get much reading done. But I'm making progress!

message 3050: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Have fun with the party! Four is a fun age (and much better than the "terrible 3's" :)
