Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I HATE that word - it is so lame. I told him that I hope that he is not offended that I don't really use it and he was like thank God because I hate it too!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments haha... that's great Jaimie. At least you agree about it.

Heidi Jaimie wrote: "I HATE that word - it is so lame. I told him that I hope that he is not offended that I don't really use it and he was like thank God because I hate it too!"

Ha! I think I skipped it too. I think I said future husband and boyfriend.

message 1454: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Yeah I guess that could have been a pretty awkward conversation if he didn't agree. But hey I wear the ring and do the jazz hands when someone asks about it.

message 1455: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Jazz hands. Classic.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments One of my old roommates hated the word too. She pronounced it Fee-a-Shay. She said it took the formality of out the whole situation but people still got the point. Of course the problem is I still say it her way 3 years after her wedding and people look at me like I'm weird.

Alan (coachmt) | 72 comments Well I just searched and the paperback is available on Amazon already! I'm excited because I didn't think the listing would go up this soon. A Measure of Disorder hopefully that link works if anyone's interested. Please tag it if you have a look since that helps the searchability.

message 1458: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments maybe I will just call him HTB - that i could handle. He has been my boyfriend for 7 years so it is just weird to call him anything else.

message 1459: by Heidi (new)

Heidi It works Alan. Congrats!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments I like it Jaimie. Everyone should add their own personal style.

P.S. I just went and picked up a certain book, Heidi!

message 1461: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Oh good Brittany. I hope you love it too :)

message 1462: by [deleted user] (new)

Which one, Brittany? The Help?

message 1463: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I am fairly sure it is The Help Shannen as she said she was picking it up from the library today.

message 1464: by [deleted user] (new)

Woohoo!

message 1465: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Currently reading the last Fablehaven book. It has been excellent so far. I've really liked this series. This last book feels more mature as I read it than some of the others have, but in a good way.

message 1466: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments P.S. I'm also more than half way done listening to the second book in the Ranger's Apprentice series The Burning Bridge (Ranger's Apprentice, #2) by John Flanagan and liking it very much. It's been a little predictable or maybe just more elementary in how it was written, but I like the story.

message 1467: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I have gone back and forth about Fablehaven Becca. It seems a little young for me, I can't decide!

message 1468: by Laura (new)

Laura | 114 comments Just got Enchantress from the Stars and Darkfever from the library. I've started both of them and like them so far!

message 1469: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Oh Laura. Hope you like Darkfever. It is weird, but sooooo good.

message 1470: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Fablehaven is definitely written for the younger side of YA but they are such a good idea I couldn't resist reading them and I actually really like the series. It's held a lot of surprises and if you know me, you know most books don't surprise me at all. I'm very good at predicting endings and plot twists. I avoid book reviews and jackets and book discussions at all costs otherwise I know what's going to happen before I even start the book, so this series has been an excellent breath of fresh air. Young? yes, but aren't we all young at heart? I don't think we'd be a part of this group is that weren't the case.

message 1471: by Christina (new)

Christina | 9 comments I just finished The Vampire Academy and really really liked it. Cant wait to read the rest in the series. Now I am reading The Forest of Hand and Teeth and so far (only a few pages into it) I am liking it.

message 1472: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Beaumont (sheilabeaumont) | 18 comments The Fablehaven series isn't too young for me. I'm in my 60s, and I love it!

message 1473: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Ok Sheila and Becca. Thanks!

message 1474: by Traci (new)

Traci still on Lies (it's finals week.. no time to read!) I'm about half way through and it's finally picking up. The beginning was a little slow, but at least this one is shorter than Hunger!

message 1475: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I saw it was shorter Traci. Thank goodness!

message 1476: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Where's Peep?

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Heidi wrote: "Where's Peep?"

Slacking. Why were you guys talking trash about me while I was gone?

message 1478: by ReeCee (new)

ReeCee | 17 comments Just finished Incarceon - Catherine Fisher

message 1479: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I was just wondering where you were Peep - no trash talking :)

message 1480: by Heidi (new)

Heidi ReeCee - I am on disk 4 out of 10 of Incarceron. How did you like it? I had to listen to the first disk 2-3 times, but now it is getting better.

message 1481: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Just started Charmed Thirds (Jessica Darling, #3) by Megan McCafferty .

message 1482: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I read Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, #10) by Charlaine Harris yesterday and it was good - okay because Eric is in it a lot it could have been crap and I would have enjoyed it but it was still pretty good. I am still trying to muster enough interest to finish Burned (House of Night, #7) by P.C. Cast but I know Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, #5) by Richelle Mead comes out today and well I kind of want to go and buy that instead.

message 1483: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Heidi wrote: "I was just wondering where you were Peep - no trash talking :)"

Thanks! Hey, I had the punctuation all wrong in that one anyway. Why was supposed to have a question mark after it. Anyway, I really have been slacking. I don't know when I last finished a book :( But I do have a bunch here to finish.

message 1484: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Jaimie- anything you have to muster energy for is not worth your time!

Peep - lets get going! (jk:)

message 1485: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I know but I bought the dang thing even after I was annoyed to the point of screaming with the last one. I just like Aphrodite - that girl is so funny. I used to like Zoey but now she is too ridiculous.

message 1486: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I'm working on it. It's taking me forever to finish Ruins of Gorlan. It's a good book, but I get way too distracted reading it (I think I said that before).

And someone else just finished it, and said what I was thinking, it just comes off as more juvenile, than YA. Like I said, it's still good but I guess it's written so that younger audiences won't have a hard time reading it. I could see myself continuing the series though.

message 1487: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (roses7184) So I just finished Catching Fire for the second time. That book is still soooo good! Now I am even more anxiously awaiting Mockingjay darnit!

I started reading Season of Eden by J.M. Warwick today. Teacher/student taboo...sounds good.

message 1488: by ReeCee (new)

ReeCee | 17 comments Heidi wrote: "ReeCee - I am on disk 4 out of 10 of Incarceron. How did you like it? I had to listen to the first disk 2-3 times, but now it is getting better."

I actually did not care much for this book at all. I was disoriented because there is almost no detail of what this prison looks like or how the prisoners survive. I kept re-reading pages to get a sense of "direction". I've enjoyed other books by this author, but this one didn't do it for me.

message 1489: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I get what you are saying ReeCee. I too am having some issues wrapping my brain around both worlds in the book. I have decided just to focus on the characters at this point. I'll give you an update when I finish - hopefully this weekend sometime.

message 1490: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) So Heidi would you still recommend it so far?

message 1491: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Not sure yet Peep! I can't decide, but it is def. worth continuing with. I will tell you in a few days.

message 1492: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Thanks, because I really am curious about this one so far.

message 1493: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (roses7184) Incaeron is in my library pile but I haven't tackled it yet. I haven't tackled Iron King yet either lol.

message 1494: by Roshini (new)

Roshini Just started Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac by Gabrielle Zevin

message 1495: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Which should I read first? [image error] Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater or Fire Study (Study, #3) by Maria V. Snyder ?

message 1496: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) Becca that is so funny because I just read & finished Shiver for the first time a few days ago & am getting ready to read Fire Study right now. I'd say start with Shiver. It's a surprisingly good novel.

message 1497: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (roses7184) I haven't read the other two...lol. So I vote Shiver too!

message 1499: by Lani (new)

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments I just finished Love You Hate You Miss You and Radiant Shadows. I've been sick for a couple days so I was able to catch up on some reading! I liked both books, but neither were spectacular. I was really disapointed with the last chapter (not the epilogue) of Radiant Shadows. Marr had me all wrapped up in the relationship until then. Has anyone else read it? I'm wondering if anyone feels the same?

I'm now moving on to The Reformed Vampire Support Group. It's on the ALA's best YA books list, which I'm slowly but surely trying to read through.

My vote is for Fire Study (Study, #3) by Maria V. Snyder !! I haven't read it yet, but I loved Magic Study :-)
