Caryn (carynreads) Reading Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer right now. It took a while for me to get into the story since science fiction isn't usually my "thing," but now I can't get enough of this book!

Wow Donna, we're on the same track. I just finished both books and I agree with you about Ashes, Ashes, the ending was a let down. And really, I think if the author had dropped the gratuitous sexual references that her book when have made a solid read for middle-graders.

-------

Just finished The Giver, which has been on The List forever and Bitterblue. Trying Rotters while waiting for my first choices to become available at the library. It's not at all what I was expecting.

The Giver (The Giver, #1) by Lois Lowry Bitterblue (Graceling Realm, #3) by Kristin Cashore Rotters by Daniel Kraus

If you "do audio" on the Harry Potter series, you will be "doing audio" from now on. The reader, Jim Dale, turns it into gateway audio.

☼Bookish in Virginia☼ (ren_t) I'm bumming. I was really looking forward to Under the Never Sky and I'm really getting turned off. I even read the sample -- which was great -- but the rest of the story isn't living up :(

My aversion to audio comes from working in a middle school. I have listened to so many audio books that I am numb. I really like reading a book for myself,I absorb it so much better. I think I'm a visual person, lol.

Was it just me or was the writing 'babyish'. Short sentences. Staccato style. And strange descriptions... like, 'he moved when the fire inhaled.'

message 12948: by Theo (new)

Theo Theo wrote: "The Earth, My Butt and Other Big Round Things by Carolyn Mackler"

So, I'm listening to this on audio and the narrator is the same woman who does the Sookie Stackhouse books. I'm completely distracted waiting for Eric to show up...

message 12949: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Theo I listened to the first 3 Sookie books on audio as well as The Earth... on audio. I listen to 2-3 audiobooks at a time so I have had some challenging times switching from book to book with certain narrators!
