I am reading whilst I write, just not as intensively as I would normally. Not at the same time, obviously, but yeah. I don't find it confusing; I find it help it keeps my imagination fresh. :) Particularly reading manga and that kinda thing, because what I'm writing has, to me, a sort of anime-ish feel to it.

But I also write year round so it's not like this is just a month-and-out deal. I can't choose either reading or writing. Both are necessary.

okay, sounds good- to keep the creativitiy going. Maybe I'll try that as well, to read while I'm making a break for eating and so on and then I can put more freshly things in my story. *Great*
What's your name on nanowrimo? Want to be writing buddies?

yeah, thats true, but before nano I thought it would be better for me just to write this one month and then read again afterwards. So I don't think about other characters or plots while I'm creating my story with my characters. you see?
But I guess if I don't read a very good and thrilling book while nano, than I won't have the problem that I want to read instead of to write.
Do you also want to be writing buddies? How's your name on nanowrimo?

message 11458: by Cassi aka Snow White (new)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Veela-valoom (or it could be Veela_valoom sometimes I forget where has a dash and where has an underscore).

As long as the book isn't too similar to what you're writing you shouldn't have a problem. If you're writing a contemporary read a fantasy or vice versus if you're worried about them getting mingled.

Very much enjoyed both books

Tina ♥ Bookaholic (martinabookaholic) I've found and add you, great. Then I can keep my motivation going :) thanks

yeah, for now I've decided to read HoN 7 along the nano - because I don't like it so much so I won't hook up with reading and I also won't have vampires in my story :)

How is Hallowed? I love the cover and am really wanting to read it!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) It took me a while to get into this one. For as much as I liked the first book, I wasn't feeling the magic this time around. But, I'm liking the direction the second half is going in, so I think I'm going to have positive words by the time I'm done with it.

Most everyone else who's read Hallowed seemed to like it better than me from the start, so I'm guessing my head was probably just in a distracted place at the time.

message 11471: by Tessa Gallahan (new)

Tessa Gallahan Ok! thanks! I didn't know there was a first one.. what is the name of it?

Bethany | 578 comments Ditto that! I'm super jealous that you're reading Hallowed already :( Unearthly is a favorite of mine.

I started The Son of Neptune (Heroes of Olympus, #2) by Rick Riordan and I'm loving it and so ridiculously excited to be reading it!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Hallowed was up on Netgalley. It might still be, I don't know. But yes, the first book was Unearthly.

rameau I finished with Every Other Day by Jennifer Lynn Barnes yesterday and started Theft of Swords (The Riyria Revelations, #1-2) by Michael J. Sullivan today.

What are you thinking of Hallowed? I didn't like Unearthly enough to try the second book without some additional convincing.

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Rameau,

Did you like Every Other Day? I have that one from netgalley but haven't read it yet.

I liked it just fine. At first I thought it would be better, but the middle part dragged a little and there were some annoying illogical things. Details are in the three star review.

Do you have the epub or the mobi version? I'm asking because I read the mobi galley and although I don't normally pay attention to the formatting issues the neverending chapters in the beginning and in the end made it a little challenging for me to pick my reading breaks.

Mine is going. This is my 4th NanoWriMo & I've "won" the past 3 times. The trick is to move forward without looking back. So no editing or rethinking or if you rethink just leave the crap and come back to cull it out during December.

Did you read Erin Morgotenson Erin Morgenstern's pep talk about where Night Circus came from? I liked that one.

message 11496: by Tina ♥ Bookaholic (new)

Tina ♥ Bookaholic (martinabookaholic) yeah, I know but i guess I think too much while writing because often I just sit before my computer and can't write anything because I think about the best phrases or the best dialogs. But I can't turn it off and just write and then edit it afterwards... exhausting :)

No - never heard of it before. Where can I find it - on her website?

I know, right! He became one of my dream boys. I LOVE him!! I love that book. That's one that I'd actually buy and read a lot. I love Anna too, and the whole story. It was a great from begining to end. And S.P. is such a funny author. That book made me laugh a lot :)
