Hmmm, most of the ones that I found inspirational also were a bit sad. Like Crazy by Han Nolan .

Oh! How about Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion . Even though it's about a zombie, the story itself is about growth and healing. Very inspirational, I think. And EXCELLENT.

message 10512: by Gwennie (last edited Aug 08, 2011 07:08AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Okay, in my Warm Bodies reminiscing that I was just doing i stumbled on the news that this will be a movie! I'm not sure how I feel about this... that is a lot of nuance and emotion to captivate for a movie.

It's being made by Jonathon Levine, who did The Wackness which I loved. So I think I'm going to be hopeful.

message 10513: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melissa_wy) | 112 comments Hey all...I just started Vampire Love Story (Tribulation Series #1) by H.T. Night yesterday. Was a little slowgoing at first, but is now picking up a bit more =)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Hey Lloyd I'm sorry you're so down :( We're here for you! And I'm pretty sure that some of us can be uplifting and inspiring!

You can read only good news here: http://www.happynews.com/

I also go to the Onion for a good laugh, like this:

Bodybuilder Can’t Believe He Forgot To Develop Right Arm

description

Not books but one is uplifting and the other is good for a laugh. :)

message 10518: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments Thanks for the cheerful thoughts everyone. Guess it's mid-life crisis time for me. (Without the affair and red sports car though). :P

Might give Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion a try. I have that on my Kindle. (Starting and partially reading too blamed many books)

message 10519: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I hope you like it. I help it makes you feel good. Books are the best kind of medicine.

message 10520: by Holly (new)

Holly | 108 comments Just finished Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken and Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie . Brightly woven was a good read. It had some action at the beginning, was slow going for a little bit, and then picked up again halfway through. The plot was great, didn't want to put it down til I was done. Matched on the other hand I was disappointed with. It had potential but the book never really had a good climax to it. It just felt flat the whole way through for me.

message 10521: by Tina ♥ Bookaholic (new)

Tina ♥ Bookaholic (martinabookaholic) I haven't read brightly woven, but matched and I felt the same. At first this distopia was interesting and the idea good, but the story kind of dragged the whole book... there wasn't really extem emotion or something...

message 10522: by Jill (new)

Jill | 68 comments Finished Insatiable Insatiable (Insatiable, #1) by Meg Cabot which I really enjoyed and starting Heresy (Giordano Bruno, #1) by S. J. Parris Heresy.

message 10527: by Amy (new)

Amy | 14 comments I am almost finished with Matched, Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie and I am kind of frustrated with it...still so many questions and so few pages left. So far a good book but could have been great.... at least that is what I am feeling about it right now. I will read the second book to see what happens :).

message 10528: by Melissa (new)

The very end is where most of the emotions come to the surface...I even teared up a little! I enjoyed it and plan on reading the second one.

Did you ever read Delerium....very good book, kinda similar but I liked Delerium better =)

message 10529: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Aug 11, 2011 12:40AM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I grabbed Graffiti Moon, but have to get through group reads and challenges first before I can get to it.

Amy, Matched was pretty mediocre and boring up until the end. The ending was the only thing that made me halfway interested in checking out book 2.

Finished Jellicoe Road and working on Vixen (Flappers, #1) by Jillian Larkin

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Boo I posted already and goodreads ate it. CURSE YOU GOODREADS. Okay not really because you are necessary to my book life, but grrr.

Anyways, attempt 2.

I started Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning but Mac was so angry and dark at the beginning I didn't know if I was actually in the mood for it. So after 16 pages I put it down for a few days. I started The Iron Knight (Iron Fey, #4) by Julie Kagawa thanks to Netgalley. I know Ash isn't exactly Suzy Sunshine but he's also not quite manic Mac. And I always love a good faerie quest plus Puck is good for a chuckle. It just seemed like a better choice for the moment.

Thanks. I'm just starting it and so far so good. I don't read a lot of mystery, so it's a nice change of pace, and seems like it will go quickly.
