Oh I want to read the Uglies series! I am waiting for them to stop being waitlisted at the library...lol.
Traci wrote: "reading Breathe My Name and it's weird, but good so far."Traci, let me know how this book turns out! I've been trying to get a copy but no luck so far.
Becca wrote: "I'm reading The Warrior Heir which is a book I picked out by the cover when I was at the bookstore. I hope it lives up to my expectations."Love this series!!
I just finished Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen and loved it! I throughly enjoy all the references she makes to characters in her other books.

This one sounds awesome! I'm going to see if our library system has any copies available!!
Becca wrote: "I'm reading The Warrior Heir which is a book I picked out by the cover when I was at the bookstore. Warrior took a little to get into for me since its pretty anti-wizard but still enjoyed it a lot! My favorite in the series is Wizard Heir (second in the trilogy) and she has a new series out, the first and only so far is Demon King also wonderful and more love story than the Heir series :)
Heidi wrote: "Ok - thanks for the update Jaimie. I still plan to read Incarceron , but took Iron King off my tbr list!"I was more able to get into it when I realized it was a series, that way you're not sitting there thinking how is this gonna be wrapped up and what about that...I really enjoyed it and cant wait for Sappique.

Oh I cannot wait to get The Demon King !!
Michelle wrote: I'm new to this group and ..."Thanks Michelle! I'm really liking it so far and I'd be interested to see what else she's written besides this series. Welcome to the group!
Becca wrote: "I'm reading The Warrior Heir which is a book I picked out by the cover when I was at the bookstore. I hope it lives up to my expectations."I have a copy of The Warrior Heir, which I bought on impulse when I was at the bookstore recently. I'll make a point of reading it soon!
I just finished Matilda, can't believe I had never read it before. I also just finished an N. Marsh I hadn't read. She was really a fine author and wrote good who done its.
I think next it'll be Asa Briggs "Victorian People: A reassessment of persons and themes 1851-67".
I have Howard's End but it's too intimidating right now for my allergy clogged eyes.
For something light--"Where Did All the Weirdness Go?"

Matilda is my favorite Roald Dahl book! And the movie's really good too.
I agree that Ngaio Marsh was a fine author. I've read all her books, which I've kept, since they're among the mysteries I enjoy rereading.
I got The Dark Divine from the library a couple of weeks ago, but I got caught up in other books and hadn't read it yet. Now I realized it's due back on Wednesday, so I'm going to put my other books on hold and get cracking on this one.I've heard good things, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Just finished reading it.. and I really liked it. My boyfriend's little sister gave it to me for Christmas and I'd never heard of it before (probably why I waited so long to read it) but it was really good. I wouldn't call it a 'psychological thriller' like the goodreads description does, but it definitely kept my interest the entire time. I would recommend it if you can get your hands on a copy.
I think I'm going to look into Nelson's first book, Teach Me, because I liked this one a lot.
On a random other note: I'm writing a paper on The Giver for a college English class, and I'm pretty excited about it. So that will probably be my literary focus for the next couple of days. :]

I absolutely loved the entire trilogy and I can not wait for the gathering by Kelly Armstrong I loved the characters and the story between cholie and Derek.

Matilda is one of my favourites too! It never gets old! Or maybe I never get too old for it:-) Have you read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? I remember it being mouth-watering.
Bluemoon wrote: "OMG! It was the first of the Roald Dahl books I read and it was really good! I also read James and the Giant Peach. I really want to read almost all his books. I just bough The Witches ..."It's been years since I have read those books. I think it's time for re-reads.
Graceling by Kristen Cashore :)my third time reading it; an amazing book :DD
Also reading Hush, Hush by Becca Fitpatrick, good read
I love the Fablehaven series! I just recently finished the fifth and final book, Keys to the Demon Prison. It's the best one of all!
I'm still on the wait list for that one at the library, but I've really enjoyed the series as well. The whole Garret twist in one of the earlier books took me completely by surprise. Not many books can do that.
Ok, Fablehaven is everywhere this week. All you temptresses! I have been trying not to add it to my tbr pile, but think I have to. I have no control.
For anyone who's read The Dark Divine, I've got a question. Here's the situation: I was trying to finish this book by today because it's due back in the library, but I only had time to get halfway through. It's currently got a bunch of holds on it, so I probably won't be seeing it again for another month at least. Is the book worth buying? I've enjoyed the first half, but I'm not completely loving it. Probably about 3.5 stars at this point. Is the second half really good? I wouldn't want to wait over a month to see what happens, but $17.99 is rather steep for a book that I don't love at this point.
Any guidance would be appreciated!
I'm about 1/3 of the way through Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging: Confessions of Georgia Nicolson by Louise Rennison. I'm not really into it. So many people tell me that the book is hilarious, but I just don't see it. Anyone else tried this series?

It is hard to think like a 14 year old sometimes, so I could see how her boy crazy thoughts and the language barrier could cause some people not to like it.
Susan wrote: "I'm reading Captivate by Carrie Jones. Its the second book in the NEED series!"thanks for mentioning this : ) I NEED to get it : )

Not the right thing to do, what you finish it and return late how much would the late fee be?

The fee wouldn't be too much at all--I think 0.25 a day, lol. But I always feel sort of bad about returning library books late when people are waiting for them!
Right now I'm reading Knightley Academy, by Violet Haberdasher, on Tamora Pierce's recommendation. It's a tale of adventure and mystery, set in an alternate-history Victorian England, just before 1900. Really enjoying it so far!
Heidi wrote: "I am finally going to start

I just finished Graceling last night and loved it. I have yet to find a book I haven't liked that was recommended in this group! I'm going to start The Fellowship of the Ring today.
Ooooo! Kourtni, that is one of my favorite series of all time. Have you read The Hobbit yet? My hubby read LOTR before The Hobbit (which he is reading right now) and he said he wished he had read the Hobbit first. It gives you a little bit more clarity into how Bilbo got The Ring and Gandalf's character (whom I love). Anyway, good choice!!!
Becca: I know, I am super excited to start these books! I wanted to read The Hobbit first but I never got around to picking it up and the LOTR books have been sitting on my bookshelf since I got them for christmas. I couldn't let them sit there any longer! Do you think I should be patient and read The Hobbit first?

I'd recommend reading The Hobbit first. I was glad that I did. I read them about 8 years ago after seeing the first movie. Oh my gosh, was it that long ago?? Yikes. Anyway, I ended up enjoying LOTR a lot more, but The Hobbit is good, too, and it contains some important background. Plus, it's a good way to get acquainted with Middle Earth. I'm looking forward to letting us know what you think of them!
Laura wrote: "Kourtni wrote: "Becca: I know, I am super excited to start these books! That's always fun. I know I will be mad at myself if I don't wait, so I will try to be strong and not start LOTR yet, even though it is in my purse waiting for me to go to lunch so i can read it!I will definately let y'all know what I think!
The Hobbit is really great background information like Laura said and its written differently than LOTR. I loved both stories, and would recommend the Hobbit first, but if you don't have it, don't worry. The LOTR series is awesome by itself.
Yea i love the hobbit and LOTR aswell. My favorite books =). Youre gonna love them Kourtni
Just finished The Book Thief(audio) and Shutter Island. Will finish Bone Crossed tonight.
Then I will read The Traveler's Gift: Seven Decisions that Determine Personal Success, Years, The Thief and Jane Eyre.

so do I , and it makes me mad when I am waiting on the book : 0
I just started Alice's Adventures in Wonderland / Through the Looking-Glass and I'm super excited to read it! I was told that the new version of the movie with Johnny Depp is a lot closer to the original than the Disney which is sweet. I'm going to read it then go see the movie and see what I think.
Bluemoon wrote: "LAURA: how did you like Shutter Island?"Hey Bluemoon - it was okay. Definitely not my normal choice but I finished it. :-)
I just finished Sloppy Firsts and will start Second Helpings today. I like the series so far. I like how the main character is unapologetic about who she is.
Susan wrote: "I'm reading Captivate by Carrie Jones. Its the second book in the NEED series!"I was a little disapointed with how Captivate ended. I know there's a third book on the way and intend to read it, I just thought it ended to lightly for the situation. Let me know what you think when you finish.
