Young Adult Fiction for Adults discussion
What are you reading now?
Heidi (the original) wrote: "Just when I got rid of Edward now all I hear about is Jace. Blurg!"Well, I'm not sure it's fair to compare a man in a book with explicit sex with a teenage boy in a YA series--and as far as I know, Jace wasn't mentioned in that part of the thread except in passing. We should all probably just stick with whoever floats our boats instead of ranking them, otherwise there will be a lot of catfights...
Stacia, I really love Jem too! And I think so far CC has done a great job of showing us why Tessa is drawn to both boys.
Cassi, I keep hearing you rave about the Jacky books so now I'm very curious about them.
Jaime wrote: "I've just started reading Inkheart. It's good so far, about a little girl who loves to read books and her father who is a bookbinder. Starts off with great intrigue." Inkheart is not too bad I do not recommend inkspell and inkdeath. Huge disappointments!
Xerxes Break(Vivian Ephona) wrote: "I'm reading the Uglies Series and am currently on Specials. Also, I'm going to be having a summer reading fest so any books you want to recommend would be great! Just in a different topic!" The Uglies series is fantastic! I half wish he would write more about Tally and am half glad that it's finished and thats when I know (for me anyway) that it is a fantastic series, because even though I read them a couple of years ago they are still fresh on my mind! I hope you are enjoying it as much as I did.
Wendy if you do audiobooks the Jacky books are a must. It's about a street girl who disguises herself as a boy & joins the Royal Navy. Of course she doesn't keep her femaleness under wraps for forever. She's a bit of a fun-loving free spirt who always finds trouble (and usually its somehow her fault)
They're not the deep literature that will solve the worlds problem, but their a rollicking good time. They're fun and flirtatious, which is perfect for a long drive.
Heidi (the original) wrote: "Wendy everything I post is all in good fun. I was not trying to offend you. Sorry if I did. :("No worries. I just don't want anyone who does love Jace to have her feelings hurt and feel she can't join the discussion, etc.

I love female-in-disguise stories. We have a road trip coming up next month, I may have to see whether the Jacky audiobooks are available from our library!
They should be at your library if it has a reasonable audiobook collection. Mine has the first 3 or 4. But I love them so much that I've just bought the others outright.
Oh Wendy I hope by now everyone knows not to listen to my rantings! What do I know? Anywho I love love love the Jacky series on audio and even got a Philly Free Library card just so I could download the mp3 audiobooks as my library only had book one on audio.
Wendy I'm glad to hear someone else loves female in disguise stories. I actually wrote a blog about that last week, declaring Jacky my favorite, but alas blogger is down so I won't link to it.
Hm, looks like my library system only has the first one as an audiobook--but at least that's enough to get started! I think I might try books like Eon or Graceling on audio sometime as well. I'm not a big traditional fantasy person (although I like the movies just fine), since I get impatient with keeping track of all the new names and rules and such! But it might be fun to have them read aloud. People seem to like them so much.

And thanks Heidi, I have the feeling audio's probably the way to go with that one for me.
Oh. I didn't even think about there being a place to link it (I used goodreads more profusely than I used my blog for awhile.). Here it is for the meanwhile. Its kinda sporadic at times (gardening, pictures, books, lol) but that's me!

AND YAY FOR BLOGGER BEING BACK UP!!!!
Okay even though I'm commenting right after myself. Just finished
. Really good but I don't love it as much as Ball Don't Lie (but as a bball fan I'm surprised by this preference) Had told myself that I was going to start
from Netgalley. But honestly not sure if I want to.I have 3 library books that seem more appealing right now.
Cassi (Is out of glitter *sadness*) wrote: "Who said anything about leaving the island of hot boys?"Girl, I'm still on that Island. ;)
I just recently finished Nobody's Princess. It was a light, easy read. It was really different from what I usually read. I am used to darker, heavier books, so this book was a really different change. I think I prefer the darker stuff but I still like this book
Jennifer I'll be curious to see how you feel at that end of the book. Just get back to us an use spoiler tags.Spoiler tags are <.spoiler.>
Only without the dots and you type spoilers in the middle.
Do not read the below if you have not read this book. DO NOT.

I always love hearing other people's take on the books I've read. And I also love spoiler tags. Because well let's be honest, they're awesome.
I was catching up on the comments and I was surprised to see so much Jace love. I only read City of Bones, so my opinion is probably not very educated.But... I found Jace kind of annoying with his "witty" sayings and "bad boy" type actions. He felt cliched to me.
To get back on topic, I'm currently reading The Geek Girl's Guide to Cheerleading
I like Jace, but honestly I wouldn't be too sad if he got killed off. I care much more about Magnus (my favorite character).
Magnus is my favorite too, but I may be biased in that decision because the gay characters are always my favorites....
I voted! I voted! I voted! Can you tell it's the most exciting thing I've done today? I had a pretty shitty friday the 13th. Bah, I'm glad it's over!!!!!
Annnnndddd....to get back on track I am currently reading
and re-reading the Kate Daniels series in preparation for the next book..which comes out soon!!!
I couldn't find it at my library. I can get it from ILL but it takes FOREVER! If I get into the book I might just get it on audio anyways.
Becca wrote: "Starting
today. It's a bit bigger than Leviathan from what I can remember."I love the Leviathan series! Behemoth is great and Goliath comes out in September.
Neil Shusterman's: Unwind ( just saw him at book signing) and now into R.Riordan's Percy Jackson series
Rgbullet wrote: "Neil Shusterman's: Unwind ( just saw him at book signing) and now into R.Riordan's Percy Jackson series"I really enjoyed the Percy Jackson series!! Happy reading!!

Thanks, Bethany. He's got a great voice. (I'm new here. Is there an introduction page for newbies?)

Amanda wrote: "I couldn't find it at my library. I can get it from ILL but it takes FOREVER! If I get into the book I might just get it on audio anyways."It's well worth the wait!
I read Hex Hall yesterday and I am sad that I don't have Demonglass here. I started Wither this morning and I am cranking through it. I have had a heinous cold for four days but man, have I gotten some serious reading done!
I'm reading The Amber Spyglass by Phillip Pullman. This is the 3rd book in His Dark Materials and I just love these books! It's really great where it's been taking me and how I could not have imagined some of the creatures and things he's come up with for the book, or guessed where the story would lead!

Sometimes I react really loudly to the Jacky books when driving. To the point where I throw up my hands, laugh, temporarily stop the CD because I'm like "I don't think" I can listen to this and continue to listen.
I know they're not naughty, but you know how the Jacky books will move all the pieces into place for a big collision of melodrama.
Yesterday I did this and my co-worker was driving behind me, including throwing my arms up in the air in excitement. Who knows what she thought.
