Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I haven't read that one yet Catie!

My TBR pile needs organizing. I really do want to read Eon.

You do need to read Jacky Faber Arphaxad. I love her so. Out of all the crossing-dressing girls I think she'd be the most fun to hang out with.

I just found an extra-cheap copy online, so I gave in and bought it! :)

Also, definitely bump Eon Dragoneye Reborn (Eon, #1) by Alison Goodman up the TBR! :)"

Ooooh I've been dying to read this. I read a review of the sequel that was glowing, so it looks like a good series to check out!

hmm,. I didn't read the dark hunter series before I read Infinity and I didn't have any trouble. so I think you should be good to go.

Lloyd | 415 comments Bloody Jack audio is currently being converted to MP3 and will soon be on my iPod to listen to while I slowly rot my brain with accounting and spreadsheets here at work.

Oy, buts me ears can 'ardly stands the wait! :P

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Three cheers for Jacky Faber, Lily of the West (and a thousand other nicknames I cannot remember)

message 8308: by Daria (new)

Daria (dariadeptula) *cheers for Jacky*

message 8309: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments I have to say that the narrator IS fantastic. But...I don't think my brain is wired for audio books. I can listen to music without difficulty while working, but I'm drifting on the audio book, missing entire passages, and that's just not how I like to read. I like to REALLY get into the story and the writing and I don't think I'm going to get that with audio. I'll still give it a try for a bit...but will probably just read the books.

For those who enjoy audiobooks though, I can vouch for the quality of these.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I don't work & do audibooks. I drive & do them. And for work I drive a lot so it works well. Sometimes I drift out but rarely.

But have you ever heard a more talented narrator?

On a Mississippi Jack Being an Account of the Further Waterborne Adventures of Jacky Faber, Midshipman, Fine Lady, and Lily of the West (Bloody Jack, #5) by L.A. Meyer note I'm SOOOO amazed at how she sings in different voices.

Audiobooks may not be for you. Jacky is the truest of tests.

Daria (dariadeptula) There's actual SINGING in the audiobooks?

She is certainly the best narrator I've heard on an audiobook.

Okay, then I'm definitely going to listen to In the Belly of the Bloodhound instead of reading it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I wasn't crazy about Iron King either.

Laura, I agree that VA and the Succubus/Georgina series were better. I like all of her series, but my favorite character is Georgie because she 's the opposite of most other typical females.

Lloyd, don't feel bad about the audiobook thing. I thought the Bloody Jack narrarator was fabulous, but my mind also wanders when I try to do audiobooks. I need the print versions for focus, or I check out.

As for Eona, I'm nervous to read it after finishing Eon. It seems like people either love or hate that one.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments The singing is one of my favorite parts of the audiobooks. Its so great to hear the tunes rather than just read the words.

I didn't hate it, but def. didn't love it - I read the 1st two, but not interested in the 3rd...

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Yeah I think there's at least 2 more. It's cute and fun. Not brilliant literature but very enjoyable.

Same here, I read the first book and it was just okay. Maybe I will give the 2nd book a try one of these days but not sure.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Laura wrote: "def NOT YA! lol check it out! Succubus Blues"

Lmao, definitely not YA. She's a soul stealing succubus who uses sex to get her own powers back. I like the books because it sort of flips gender roles. The main male love interest is a shy, awkward author who doesn't know how to talk to women. Georgina can't actually be physical with the man she loves because she'll steal part of his life/soul, so they have a more emotional connection.

The first book has the same "info dump" that I talked about with all of Mead's series, but each book gets better and better. Sort of like the Fever series if you've read those, where the first book throws a lot of info at you, but by about book 3 you're addicted.

message 8330: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Lloyd I hope you are not trying to listen to Jacky while working? There is NO WAY I could do that. I can't even listen to audiobooks while on the internet at home. It must have my full attention so I listen while driving, walking, cooking, cleaning -- but never while at work or on the computer. My brain can't do it!

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Maybe Lloyd has been doing audiobooks the wrong way lol.

I can't read and listen at the same time. To an extreme. People will try to talk to me and I won't hear them at all if I'm reading something.

message 8332: by Arphaxad (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments Same here. To the constant exasperation of my family members..

message 8333: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I am easily distracted and can't even read with the tv on in the room - I must have peace and quiet. Good thing I don't have kids huh?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I tune out the world when I'm reading. It bugs my husband to no end.

I'm like that too! Which is why I do most of my reading at night.

message 8337: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I can easily tune people out when I read a book. In a weird way I tune them out and still hear what they're saying.

But with an audio book I have to do it when I'm doing a mindless task, like cooking, driving, or cleaning.

message 8338: by Jennifer (new)

Same with me! haha...

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments It even happens to me reading news articles on the Internet. People will be talking and talking and talking then ask me a question, stare at me and eventually I get the picture. My answer is always "I was reading I didn't hear you." And people have come to expect that lol

message 8347: by Daria (new)

Daria (dariadeptula) Finished Tempest Rising by Tracy Deebs (which was so-so) and I'm deciding whether to start Assassin by Anna Myers or As You Wish by Jackson Pearce

Cambria (cambria409) | 264 comments Wendy F wrote: "I bought Unearthly too, I just haven't had a chance to read it yet."

I am really liking it so far. It is different from a lot of other things I have read. I really like the setting and the characters. When I am not reading it I think about when I will have time to read it next so I can see what is going to happen.

message 8349: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Finished Alice in Zombieland by Lewis Carroll which was okay but not really my thing, I think if you like those sort of mash ups you might like it, but if not then you really care for it. I am not really into the mash ups but I thought I would try one..lol It was laughable at best but really just not my thing.

I really want to read it. I've heard good things about it. And what sold me was taht alot of my friends who have very different taste in books all tend to say it was really good.

Too many books and too little time.
