They're urban fantasy. Harry's a wizard in Chicago. The first one, STORM FRONT, is actually not very good. If a friend had not insisted I try the second book I would have missed SO much good reading!! But when James Marsters is reading it, he even makes STORM FRONT good. I know because I got it when it finally became available on audio and listened to it.

You might like these, Heidi. Keep in mind that unless you're going to do it on audio you might want to skip the first one, STORM FRONT, as it isn't really very good. On audio it's different. Starting with the second one, FOOL MOON, the series takes off. CHANCES, which I think is like the 13th book or something, comes out next week. It promises to be a REALLY good read!

OK, I put aside Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev. I gave it 100 pages and couldn't get into it, which is a shame because I thought the author wrote beautifully. Now I'm reading The Luxe by Anna Godbersen. A little wary because of the historical setting (which I don't like) but so far it seems OK.

Okay, update on my The Book Thief experience, I'm more than half way through it. (I know I'm being slow, but it is what it is and I'm swamped at work!!)

1) Everyone was right, it took a while to get used to Death as the narrator.
2) It was good from the beginning, but yesterday I really got into it. The catalyst you ask? Max showed up! That helps. It adds more urgency to the story
3) What is up with Death and all the spoilers? He keeps getting ahead of himself and tells me things I don't want to know about yet. Why Death Why?? (yes, I realize how weird that sounds)

Overall, really enjoying it though. Good recommendation! No tears yet. We'll see if I can finish without them.

I LOVED the study books. The glass books that follow take a bit longer to get into but are pretty good too.

Really liked the "Percy Jackson" series so far, but I'm on the waiting list at the library for 3-5. I'm also on the list for most of the books in the "Ender" series by Orson Scott Card. I usually don't go for sci-fi, but OMG "Ender's Game" is one of my favorite books ever now that I've read it.

I think I am going to reread the Jessica Darling series this weekend. I need a little Marcus Flutie in my life right now. Nanny Returns is slow going (well for me, I'm on pg143) and I feel like I know everything thats going to happen in the rest of the book.

If you want a good reader for audio books, try the "Bartimaeus Trilogy" written by Jonathan Stroud. I loved the books, but listening to it was an awesome experience. I don't remember who the voice is, but he makes Bartimaes come alive for me.

I love Ender's Game too! I have read Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide and Children of the Mind. I am still wanting to read some of the parallel series like Ender's Shadow, ect.

I'm starting to get hesitant though. I'm in the Fall of 1942 and I'm afraid it's going to be getting intense soon.

Damn the fact that I have to work so much right now! I was at the office until 11:30 last night finishing stuff up, but when I got home I still had to read at least a little bit (50 pages or so) because I want to know what happens. But I can tell it's going to get bad soon... sad day!

I'm reading it. I enjoy audiobooks, when I get the chance to listen to them, but I have an addiction to podcasts so they tend to take up the majority of my audiobook time. So I usually stick with the old school books.

I've heard "Ender's Shadow" is just as good as "Ender's Game" but I haven't been able to get it from the library yet. It's at the top of my list. I loved Bean so I can hardly wait to read from his perspective.

Yes, what Jamie said, and they tend to be topical. So, for example I listen to a Harry Potter podcast called Mugglecast which I download for free from itunes, and they give me all the lastest info I could ever need to know about what's going on in the Harry Potter world. This one in particular has chapter-by chapter discussions and all kinds of fun segments like quote quiz, make the music connection, and LovePotion, Imperio, Avarda Kadavra (a HP version of screw, marry, kill), among other things.

I think it's higly entertaining and love to listen to them while I'm working out at the gym. (That and I think Micah has a super sexy voice)

But you can find one for almost any topic and they are usually attached to websites.

She has two novellas posted online for the study books. the one I am reading right now while I am supposed to be working is Assassin Study and it is from Valeks pov and takes place right after poison study. I love Valek.
