I just read the second book in that series! I don't think the cover on that one is good, it doesn't do a good job at showing how the books are. I love her Psy/Changling books more.

Try the Immortals After Dark series, or the Psy/Changeling Series. My ratings for the individual books run the gamut, but I loved them both, more than BDB (it's been a while since I've read BDB admittedly).

Nikki (aka Quinn) | 69 comments Good, I thought I was a weirdo for not getting into Incarceron... I feel validated :)

Nikki (aka Quinn) | 69 comments And did anyone else keep wanting to call it Incarceration lol

message 7755: by Sara (new)

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I finished Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh and really enjoyed it, will probably start the second one tomorrow.

message 7756: by Holly (new)

Holly | 108 comments just finished Ink Exchange (Wicked Lovely, #2) by Melissa Marr , reading Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins now, and waiting for City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare from the library.

message 7757: by Cambria (new)

Cambria (cambria409) | 264 comments I just started reading Afterlife the #4 in the Evernight series. So far it is a good read!

message 7758: by Daria (new)

Daria (dariadeptula) I'm reading Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis right now, and it's great! I really hope to see more space opera in YA literature.

message 7759: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments I recently joined another YA group and I have to say...I definitely like this one the best. I'm well beyond such exciting topics as "Vampire or Werewolf?" I don't think my membership is going to last long there.

message 7760: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments Will all this talk of "cheesy goodness" and the BDB make me someday try it out?

Perhaps...since I'm secretly reading other cheese at the moment.

message 7761: by Bethany (new)

Bethany (b_shively) I've got a shelf full of books but I think I'll read Darkest Mercy (Wicked Lovely, #5) by Melissa Marr next...then i may go with either I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore or Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie and then I'll start in with Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) by Cassandra Clare followed by City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare ...oh yeah and I've got If I Stay (If I Stay, #1) by Gayle Forman ...I better get started...got a lot of good books to read!!!

Depends on what kind of cheese you're looking for...it's vampire romance/borderline erotica with a bunch of guys who have identity issues. I sound like I'm bashing the thing, but I'm not (it's not my favorite adult series by a long shot, but I'm a fan). I just figured you'd want a warning, and that it wouldn't hurt to disclaimer that it's very tailored to women being a romance.

As for the other YA groups, have you considered something a bit more genre specific? If you pick one with a more sci-fi type bent for example, you often get more of a cross gender mix, so the conversations tend to stay a bit more neutral and less immature.

Oh please check it out Lloyd! I would love to hear your thought on BDB! You could go where few men have gone before - at least straight men. Who knows, you may even like it. :)

message 7765: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments Hmm...that might not be my kind of thing, for sure. I know it's such a guy thing to say, but stories that hinge on "romance" instead of an actual plot/story don't tend to hold my interest for long.

Thanks for the warning. :P

As for groups...I don't really have much time to explore boards and reply, etc. Which is why I'm so off-topic here. :)

Same here. I'll post in a discussion and by the time I come back everyone's talking about something else entirely.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Hope to finally get Eon by Alison Goodman finished in the next day or two, then plan on starting The Girl in the Steel Corset (The Steampunk Chronicles, #1) by Kady Cross .

This group is my goodreads home. Can't imagine goodreads without it!

Plus...I haven't read enough of either book to call them cheesy OR good. Yet. One is QUITE popular (or was) the other probably not so much. I'd never even heard of it until I stumbled on it via a recommendation.

message 7774: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments Catie wrote: "Really? It's that big a secret, huh? Wow...this must be a really good one. I can't wait!

Okay, one more guess...Twilight (Twilight, #1) by Stephenie Meyer??

P.S. Hope you don't mind my razzing you Lloyd...."

Ding ding ding!!!

(sulks into the background)

message 7775: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments And since my shame is revealed, the other book is Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder .

Nice guess Catie. It was the "popular" comment that gave it away, huh? :P

I'm going to go draw in my notebook now. Maybe I'll start using hearts to dot my "i's" now too. Right after my pedicure.

message 7776: by Victoria (new)

Victoria (closer2coma86) | 83 comments Finally am getting to Bumped Bumped by Megan McCafferty . I got this from NetGalley months ago, but could never read it because they took away the Kindle option and it would never download to my comp.

Poison Study is actually pretty good. Another one of the things I LOVE about the Kindle is not having to be embarrassed by book covers. :)

As for an official review of Twilight...we'll see. I'm still not admitting "officially" that I'm reading it. It will be our secret here on this group. (though I did admit it to my wife too) :)

message 7778: by Arphaxad (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments Haha! No need to feel girly, Lloyd - my (very manly) brother has read both and loved both! He's even given up trying to avoid admitting it in public. Extra man-points, I say, for being open-minded enough to try it in the first place :D

message 7779: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Hear hear! I agree with Arphaxad. My husband has read the first one, couldn't finish the second one just because it wasn't his style, but he didn't loose any manliness for trying.

message 7780: by Arphaxad (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments Even my kickboxing instructor had a go, actually! Ha

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments My brother read them. I was concerned. But then again he's totally whipped and more likely to be the Bella than the Edward in his relationship situation.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments PS his girlfriend is not a crazy vampire. She's just smart enough to know that she'll get her way.

message 7783: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments *sob* Thanks everyone. It's nice to feel accepted no matter what I'm reading. :P

hahaha! Loved Poison Study and the author is a member of our little group here (just to prove again how great our group is). Lloyd I can't believe you are reading Twilight, but then again I can't believe I read it myself. The sad thing is I hated it and then went on to read the whole series. How silly was that?

Heidi Victoria wrote: "Finally am getting to Bumped Bumped by Megan McCafferty. I got this from NetGalley months ago, but could never read it because they took away the Kindle option and it would never do..."

I am very concerned about this one. Can an author go from chick lit to dystopia? Hmmmm....

message 7786: by Ali (new)

Ali | 106 comments I adored the Poison Study series.. good pick!

message 7787: by Heidi (new)

Heidi You ladies who have hubby's who read your books make me jealous!

message 7788: by Heidi (new)

Heidi That is so nice you can share books Catie. My hubby and I will have to stick with tv shows (and only certain ones as he is a snob!)

LOL. Sophie Mercer is worth being jealous of. She's awesome-sauce.

message 7792: by Sam (new)

Sam (odetobeokay) Just started Looking for Alaska by John Green on Friday. I heard so many good things about it, I thought I'd read it myself. I like it so far :)

If you notice on my currently reading list, I have a bunch of books: Timequake by Kurt Vonnegut but I'm just finding it so repetitive, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7) by J.K. Rowling ...so big and overwhelming so I'm having a hard time getting through it since it's hard to take with me everywhere. Frustrating. I need to finish the damn book already! I want to see the movie and I refuse to see it until I read the book since they always leave SO much out. Meh :/ But I'm really liking Looking For Alaska so far.

message 7793: by Brandi (new)

Brandi I'm working on finishing A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy #1) by Deborah Harkness and just started Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis . I'm taking a break from Fire (The Seven Kingdoms Trilogy, #2) by Kristin Cashore because the other two are due back to the library first.

message 7796: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I love that my husband reads, but he's like Catie's hubby in that he only does one, maybe two books a month if they're short, and they're usually audio books because he is on the road constantly. He loved Hunger Games and Ender's Game though, so a good start.

I bought this book, I had a hard time getting a hold of a copy of it. I thought the book was very good. It definately pulled at my heartstrings, you just feel for the kids in the story. I think I gave it 5 stars.
