Ashley Mayer (ashleymayer) | 125 comments I have a question for fans of
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins !
I read this book a while back and I loved it! I hope I am not giving anything away by asking this question so IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK IGNORE MY POST!
Recently I took a class that has peaked my interest in poetry, so I'm wondering if anyone remembers what book of poetry Etienne gave Anna?
The book I read was a library copy so I can't check for myself. If you own a copy can you please let me know? I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I started Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters, #1) by Juliet Marillier for our monthly author challenge. Starting kind of slow after the fast paced books I've read lately.

message 7608: by Heidi (new)

Heidi It takes a little bit Cassi. Stick with it!

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Heidi I wrote: "It takes a little bit Cassi. Stick with it!"

I read her other series (because I won signed copies free off of Writer Unboxed). But I just read an excellent urban fantasy with a smart-ass attitude so the transition is hard.

message 7610: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) The poem he highlighted for her was was Pablo Neruda, (I love you as certain dark things are loved, secretly, between the shadow and the soul)... I can't find the name of the book though.

Sigh... love Anna and Etienne!

message 7612: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I know! I loved reading the little snipets of that book just now. I love that book!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments too bad I got it from the library. Can't go back to read those fun scenes.

Ali | 106 comments Next up .. Warprize, The Dark Mirror, Outside In and Storm Glass ... Oh and probably the next Cassandra Clare book City of Fallen Angels (Think it's released tomorrow.. wooot!).

Oh and been reading a lot about that Alanna book by Pierce.. everyone is talking about it. Thinking of picking it up but can anyone tell me if there is any sort of romance (no matter how big or small?)... I'm a sucker for romance and have a hard time reading stuff without at least something in it..

Cassi - loved that book.. definitely stay with it!

message 7615: by Sara (new)

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I finished Some Practical Magic by Laurie C. Kuna and will be starting Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver , then going to go back to Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins .

I got my Nook about a week ago and have enjoyed not having to sit in front of my computer for hours reading on a desk top e-reader so I've tried limiting my time on the computer :).

Thanks! I found a Neruda poetry book at the library and I going to stop by today and get it. Hopefully it's in there. Thanks for finding the poet for me!!

So... I finished Anna and the French Kiss on Sunday and absolutely loved it... but I couldn't remember the poem to help you... then, by complete accident, I came across this video of a poet doing Love Sonnet #17 by Neruda and recognized the line that Etienne stars for Anna. I about died! Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKjzEH...

Heidi, I know what you mean! I put a hold on Anna at my library today so I can re-read it. I really should buy a copy!!

Keep going! It's so worth it. It is slower paced, but beautiful, and the romance (although not the main part of the story) is incredible. Sorcha is such a stong character. I want her to be my best friend, or sister, or something. Just incredible.

I still haven't read Clockwork Angel. I bought it when it came out, but still haven't gotten around to reading it (should have waited for the paperback).

Tina ♥ Bookaholic (martinabookaholic) Yesterday I've finished Dreamfever (Fever, #4) by Karen Marie Moning and today I'll start with the last book in the series Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning

and afterwards I guess I'll also start with Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) by Cassandra Clare and then go on with the Mortal Instruments again :)

message 7631: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm reading Sweet Valley Confidential Ten Years Later by Francine Pascal , but I'm very tempted to put it down and start Plague (Gone, #4) by Michael Grant , which I picked up yesterday.

message 7635: by Monique (new)

Monique (moniqueurbanisedgeek) I am rereading The Dead Girls' Dance (The Morganville Vampires, #2) by Rachel Caine and will probably work my through the whole series again.

Just wrapped up Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins and am also reading Angel (Angel Trilogy, #1) by L.A. Weatherly .

message 7636: by Julie (new)

Julie I'm about 3/4 done with Raised by Wolves (Raised by Wolves, #1) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes I'm really disappointed. It's a good story line and has good characters but it doesn't really flow at all. There have been points where I've had to stop reading and go back just to figure out what happened. Also the "wolf thoughts" that the main character has go like this....Pack. Safe. Mine. They are interjected into the story and mess up the flow..and they're everywhere.

I am looking forward to reading this one--it looks like it might be similar to Eragon, which I enjoyed!

message 7638: by Monique (new)

Monique (moniqueurbanisedgeek) I enjoyed Raised by Wolves (Raised by Wolves, #1) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes a whole lot more than I enjoyed Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater .

I think Shiver has to be one of the worst YA books I have read in a long, long time.

Oh, wait. No. That would be Swoon (Swoon, #1) by Nina Malkin .

message 7639: by Julie (new)

Julie I like the story line and characters of Raised by Wolves (Raised by Wolves, #1) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes alot better than Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater but unfortunately I'm just not able to get into it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Rosabelle wrote: "I'm currently reading Eon Dragoneye Reborn (Eon, #1) by Alison Goodman by Alison Goodman... Starts out very slow and just wondering if it's worth it to keep reading"

I've been working on this one for a couple of weeks, and have been reading a chapter or two a day in between other books. It reads like an epic/traditional fantasy, and my mind hasn't been in the mood to focus on details the way EF sometimes requires in order to fully absorb what's going on. I'm just blaming it on my mood as of lately. Books that I would normally love have not been holding my interest and I've been craving lite or smutty reads instead of heavier ones.

One of my friends who is another fellow fan of fantasy swears I will love it once I get to a certain part, so I'm willing to stick it out, that's why I'm trying to read a little bit at a time in between other stuff until it picks up.

I also got that Angel book too! Sounds interesting.

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I'm putting Delirium aside for the time being, because it just reminds me of Matched which was a good book, but I'm not ready to read another one like it. So, I'm going to read Angel (Angel Trilogy, #1) by L.A. Weatherly

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I am starting to get into Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters, #1) by Juliet Marillier . My previous comment was less an insult to a book but a commentary on how hard it is to switch between writing styles sometimes (I went from an October Daye urban fantasy novel by Seanan McGuire to this book).

Though I have to say Saving Ceecee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman despite the excellent narrator is frustrating me some. The author overuses similes, metaphors and imagery. Give me a red pen and I'll improve this book with some basic editing. I almost shouted at the CD player when it said one particular character "Was sitting on blahblahblah bathing in the golden glow of the sunlight" or something like that. Really all she's doing is sitting there talking. And nobody really bathes in sunlight. It's not horrible but I find the descriptors to be a tad purple and distracting at times.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) a commentary on how hard it is to switch between writing styles sometimes

Sometimes this happens to me if I switch back and forth between male and female authors. Usually I can push past it, but every once in a while I'm stuck having to put the book down and come back to it later.

I think part of my problem with the current book with poetic language is that the narrator is suppose to be 12. Then she says the "wisps of clouds look like a veil on a runaway bride" and I'm like she's 12 she doesn't know anything about runaway bridges. And waaaaay too many are similes. I also almost yelled when she compared herself to a dog excited over a bone. I can't remember why she said it but I thought people don't compare themselves to DOGS.
