I have a question for fans of
!I read this book a while back and I loved it! I hope I am not giving anything away by asking this question so IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK IGNORE MY POST!
Recently I took a class that has peaked my interest in poetry, so I'm wondering if anyone remembers what book of poetry Etienne gave Anna?
The book I read was a library copy so I can't check for myself. If you own a copy can you please let me know? I would really appreciate it! Thanks!
I started
for our monthly author challenge. Starting kind of slow after the fast paced books I've read lately.
Heidi I wrote: "It takes a little bit Cassi. Stick with it!"I read her other series (because I won signed copies free off of Writer Unboxed). But I just read an excellent urban fantasy with a smart-ass attitude so the transition is hard.
The poem he highlighted for her was was Pablo Neruda, (I love you as certain dark things are loved, secretly, between the shadow and the soul)... I can't find the name of the book though.

Next up .. Warprize, The Dark Mirror, Outside In and Storm Glass ... Oh and probably the next Cassandra Clare book City of Fallen Angels (Think it's released tomorrow.. wooot!). Oh and been reading a lot about that Alanna book by Pierce.. everyone is talking about it. Thinking of picking it up but can anyone tell me if there is any sort of romance (no matter how big or small?)... I'm a sucker for romance and have a hard time reading stuff without at least something in it..
Cassi - loved that book.. definitely stay with it!
I finished
and will be starting
, then going to go back to
.I got my Nook about a week ago and have enjoyed not having to sit in front of my computer for hours reading on a desk top e-reader so I've tried limiting my time on the computer :).
Wendy F wrote: "The poem he highlighted for her was was Pablo Neruda, (I love you as certain dark things are loved, secretly, between the shadow and the soul)... I can't find the name of the book though."I love that quote and how it connects with Etienne's relationship with Anna! *sigh* :)

I love that quote too, it's so romantic and... *BIG doe eyed sigh*. I love Etienne!Ashley, you're welcome.

So... I finished Anna and the French Kiss on Sunday and absolutely loved it... but I couldn't remember the poem to help you... then, by complete accident, I came across this video of a poet doing Love Sonnet #17 by Neruda and recognized the line that Etienne stars for Anna. I about died! Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKjzEH...
Thanks for sharing the link Jen! I like the way the poem sounds in spanish, makes me wish I could speak it or at least understand it. Heidi, I know what you mean! I put a hold on Anna at my library today so I can re-read it. I really should buy a copy!!
Cassi wrote: "I started

Keep going! It's so worth it. It is slower paced, but beautiful, and the romance (although not the main part of the story) is incredible. Sorcha is such a stong character. I want her to be my best friend, or sister, or something. Just incredible.
Heidi I wrote: "I can't wait to re-read Anna after all this Anna love lately :)"I want to re-read it already too! My TBR pile is glaring at me...
Morgan wrote: "I've started reading Cassandra Clare's new book!
It's great so far."
I still haven't read Clockwork Angel. I bought it when it came out, but still haven't gotten around to reading it (should have waited for the paperback).
I am starting the blue bloods series. I just finished thirteen days to midnight. That book was definitely different from what I expected.
Yesterday I've finished
and today I'll start with the last book in the series
and afterwards I guess I'll also start with
and then go on with the Mortal Instruments again :)
I'm currently reading
by Alison Goodman... Starts out very slow and just wondering if it's worth it to keep reading
I am rereading
and will probably work my through the whole series again.Just wrapped up
and am also reading
.
I'm about 3/4 done with
I'm really disappointed. It's a good story line and has good characters but it doesn't really flow at all. There have been points where I've had to stop reading and go back just to figure out what happened. Also the "wolf thoughts" that the main character has go like this....Pack. Safe. Mine. They are interjected into the story and mess up the flow..and they're everywhere.
Rosabelle wrote: "I'm currently reading

I enjoyed
a whole lot more than I enjoyed
.I think Shiver has to be one of the worst YA books I have read in a long, long time.
Oh, wait. No. That would be
.
I like the story line and characters of
alot better than
but unfortunately I'm just not able to get into it.
Rosabelle wrote: "I'm currently reading

Starts out very slow and just wondering if it's worth it to keep reading"I've been working on this one for a couple of weeks, and have been reading a chapter or two a day in between other books. It reads like an epic/traditional fantasy, and my mind hasn't been in the mood to focus on details the way EF sometimes requires in order to fully absorb what's going on. I'm just blaming it on my mood as of lately. Books that I would normally love have not been holding my interest and I've been craving lite or smutty reads instead of heavier ones.
One of my friends who is another fellow fan of fantasy swears I will love it once I get to a certain part, so I'm willing to stick it out, that's why I'm trying to read a little bit at a time in between other stuff until it picks up.
Monique wrote: "I am rereading

I'm putting Delirium aside for the time being, because it just reminds me of Matched which was a good book, but I'm not ready to read another one like it. So, I'm going to read
I am starting to get into
. My previous comment was less an insult to a book but a commentary on how hard it is to switch between writing styles sometimes (I went from an October Daye urban fantasy novel by Seanan McGuire to this book).Though I have to say
despite the excellent narrator is frustrating me some. The author overuses similes, metaphors and imagery. Give me a red pen and I'll improve this book with some basic editing. I almost shouted at the CD player when it said one particular character "Was sitting on blahblahblah bathing in the golden glow of the sunlight" or something like that. Really all she's doing is sitting there talking. And nobody really bathes in sunlight. It's not horrible but I find the descriptors to be a tad purple and distracting at times.
a commentary on how hard it is to switch between writing styles sometimesSometimes this happens to me if I switch back and forth between male and female authors. Usually I can push past it, but every once in a while I'm stuck having to put the book down and come back to it later.

I know a lot of people like Shiver. But I'm always reassured to know that I'm not the only one who really didn't like it.
Catie wrote: "I hate that too Cassi - I mean, don't get me wrong...I LOVE poetic, lyrical, meaningful writing (even if there's very little plot), but I HATE it when authors try to be all poetic and descriptive b..."I think part of my problem with the current book with poetic language is that the narrator is suppose to be 12. Then she says the "wisps of clouds look like a veil on a runaway bride" and I'm like she's 12 she doesn't know anything about runaway bridges. And waaaaay too many are similes. I also almost yelled when she compared herself to a dog excited over a bone. I can't remember why she said it but I thought people don't compare themselves to DOGS.
