She probably has. There are enough people who will be watching because the past hoopla. Trust me if it happens again in her publishing I'm sure all hell will break loose on the Internet. She probably wishes everyone would just forget about Draco Veritas and all that it involves.

She used to spell her name "Claire" not "Clare" which I find an odd change.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Catie wrote: "Ha! That's interesting. Maybe she was trying to avoid people identifying her past on google??"

But why wouldn't she just go straight up pen name? It's like she's trying to keep fans and get rid of haters. Does she think we fool that easily?

Daria (dariadeptula) Catie wrote: "Ha! That's interesting. Maybe she was trying to avoid people identifying her past on google??"

I never thought of that, but that's probably the reason she changed it. Makes sense.

Zoltaire | 11 comments Well, I just finished The Conch Bearer by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. It took me a week but it's a really entertaining read set in India and the beautiful Himalayas (YA with twelve year old male protagonist). I wrote a book review on it in my blog.

message 7255: by Traci (new)

Traci Cassandra Clare is a pen name itself. It's strange that she would change it from Claire to Clare, but a pen name nonetheless. I have no idea what her real name is.

message 7256: by Daria (last edited Mar 20, 2011 08:26PM) (new)

Daria (dariadeptula) I don't think anyone knows what her real name is, except of course her family and close friends.

message 7257: by Sara (new)

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I put aside River Marked (Mercedes Thompson #6) by Patricia Briggs because I'm a little werewolfed out right now, and picked up I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies, #1) by Pittacus Lore .

There are even ethics in fandom.

Yes there are ethics in fanfiction and if you are to write one, it should contain an idea that links to a real author story that you love but you can't plagurize anything from the original story or its not a fanficton. To pass a fanfiction off as such, by plagurizing the main story, is pointless and so for once I totally agree with Cassi about what she has commented about The Mortal Instruments' author!

message 7259: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) I haven't read the MI series, or fanfic so I never knew any of this stuff about Cassandra Clare how horrible. I have read her other series The Clockwork Prince and I liked it, but I didn't buy it..LOL :O)

message 7260: by Monique (new)

Monique (moniqueurbanisedgeek) Currently rereading MI and I really do think credit should be given for a lot of what she has created. Yes, her style smacks of fanfic, but the plot is decent and the book an overall fun read!

Direct plagiarism is not cool, but MI certainly stands on it's own. Unlike the dreadful spawn of Twilight copies flooding the market these days.

message 7261: by Linda (new)

Linda Klinedinst (linda_klinedinst) I finished reading Nurse Matilday by Christianna Brand. This is a very good book to read and it is easy to read.

I am going to my Library and pick out some books to read this afternoon. I have a list of books that I want to read. They get new books in all of the time so I have been keeping up with their new books.

I'm definitely going to go see it, the trailer looks great, would love to know what you think of the book Cheryl!"

I'll let you know. I'm about 30 pages into it so far and enjoying it.

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 325 comments I finished In the Arms of Stone Angels by Jordan Dane and it was very good. I am still working on Shadow Souls (The Vampire Diaries The Return, #2) by L.J. Smith in ebook and am going to finally start Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3) by J.K. Rowling as my paper book. :)

Zoltaire | 11 comments Carmel wrote: "Sounds like an interesting book Zoltaire, I'm going to follow your blog too:) Can I suggest that your b/ground on the blog perhaps needs adjusting as it's a little difficult to read the type of you..."

Thanks Carmel. I love books that's why I only review the good ones to give my blog followers a tip, small in number as they are. Of course, it's all about preference. BTW, I was worried about the background too. I'll change it right now. Next, I'll review The Alchemist which I'm reading right now or some other YA novel.

message 7268: by Jamie (new)

Jamie (bookworm20) | 67 comments I finished The Piper's Son by Melina Marchetta , To Catch a Pirate by Jade Parker , Trigger by Susan Vaught , and Master of None (Gavyn Donatti, #1) by Sonya Bateman this weekend! Now I am reading The Wind Blows Backward by Mary Downing Hahn ! :)

Julie S. I just finished The Roar The Roar by Emma Clayton and The Witches The Witches by Roald Dahl .

The Witches was a reread, and it was still great.

I'm currently reading Tunnels Tunnels (Tunnels, #1) by Roderick Gordon . It's pretty good so far.

Gini (camp80) | 88 comments I am reading Artemis Fowl The Arctic Incident (Artemis Fowl, #2) by Eoin Colfer

It's not grabbing me as much as the first one was, I am hoping that it gets better.

message 7274: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 415 comments I'm still re-reading A Storm of Swords (A Song of Ice and Fire, #3) by George R.R. Martin and sometimes working on Young Samurai The Way of the Sword (Young Samurai, #2) by Chris Bradford (the sword theme isn't on purpose) -- BUT...I am reading them on my brand new Kindle!!! :)

I just charged it up. Haven't really started using it yet, but lunch time draws near...

I'm sure I will. I've been reading mostly all ebooks on my iPod for months now. I'm sure this will be a welcome change. (Especially now that the sun actually comes out once in awhile with spring approaching)

message 7277: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) And significantly smaller for taking with you...

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Guys I'm kind of loving Ball Don't Lie by Matt de la Pena just wanted to update you. I'm only like 20% into it so we'll see how this continues.

message 7279: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Yay Lloyd!

message 7280: by Bethany (new)

Bethany (b_shively) Right now I am reading Life As We Knew It (Last Survivors, #1) by Susan Beth Pfeffer
I'm not sure what I was expecting with this book...it's really been kinda a depressing read...with the end of the world...so much loss and uncertianty...but I'm not finished with it yet! I'm hoping for a glimmer of happiness in the midst of all the despair!! What did others think about this book...and the series?!?

message 7281: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Bethany that book was REALLY depressing. I skipped the other books.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) The diary style of that one threw me off. I didn't get past the halfway point in the book. I agree that it was a downer from what I managed to read, but I didn't have a problem with Forest of Hands and Teeth being a downer.

It seems like the book is well-liked though, so the problem could have just been with me.

Jennifer (jsills3) | 159 comments Heidi I wrote: "Bethany that book was REALLY depressing. I skipped the other books."

There are glimmers in there. I enjoyed the series and it's been really popular at the school I work at.

message 7284: by Bethany (new)

Bethany (b_shively) thanks for the input...I'm going to finish this one for now and maybe hold off on the others in the series!!

I loved the first book but hated the next two. I read the first book when my youngest was only a few weeks/months old, so I loved it even more - scared the crap out of me.

message 7293: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Mayer (ashleymayer) | 125 comments Right now I am reading Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer , and I am pretty disappointed in it. I was soooo excited to get my hands on this one because I've heard so many good reviews, but I'm half way through and I have no desire to finish. This seldom happens to me. I usually push through a book no matter how much it frustrates me, but Shay is such an annoying character! I'm really pulling for Ren here, but I have a feeling that's not how it's going to end! Has anyone read this book? Should I bother finishing it?

message 7294: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 2 comments I'm reading Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, #3) by Richelle Mead .

Ashley, how disappointing on Nightshade I was looking forward to reading that book also. I have also heard nothing but great reviews on that book.

Maybe I'll read it also soon.

message 7298: by Arphaxad (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments Yikes, 250 unread posts!! I've missed a lot! Fun reading back through though :)

I, sadly, finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7) by J.K. Rowling last week (I'm now watching all the films to hold off the post-series depression!)

Now I'm reading The Hero of Ages (Mistborn, #3) by Brandon Sanderson (yay), and then I have Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters, #1) by Juliet Marillier , The Ask and the Answer (Chaos Walking, #2) by Patrick Ness and Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer waiting for me.
Very excited about the first, not such high hopes for the last, but I'll try and give it a chance at least!

Nightshade is extremely slow moving. For me, it didn't pick up until the last 3rd of the book.
